    2. Come to Chennai, hunt for a good used motorcycle & I'm sure we can find
    3. Ride happy & when the time comes to go back to Kolkatta, sell the used bike

Since (purely an assumption) you've 2-3 months till you come down from KOL to CHN, I guess you'll get a buyer in these 75 odd days.
You can maybe quote somewhere around 50-55k for your ride.
I know its a 30 month old ride and you've clocked 33k on it.
    BUT
    1. Very well maintained ride with regular services.
    2. Great headlights (you poured a good amount while searching and experimenting with the headlights)
    3. Leech type PHAAT (read FAT) tires.
    4. Virtually a brand new FI assembly. It has hardly run 6-7k after the change IIRC.
    5. And I guess your ZMR has the least vibes amongst us. (padding and stuff)
    6. Remote lock system.
    and blah blah.....

Please sell it to a person who's a little into the biking scenario and not some tom, dick or harry who simply doesn't know how a bike is meant to be ridden/maintained.

But then, if you still insist...
    1. Get a NOC from the Police Station
    2. Get the bike to Chennai
    3. Visit a nearest RTO where you'll be staying to get the rest of the formalities done
    4. Keep the challan/receipt from the RTO that you've submitted all the papers for reregistration & keep riding happily
    5. After a new number is obtained, enjoy
You get the NOC from KOL. A visit to police station will do. Its best to contact the SVC as they do these things daily and you don't have to wait in line at the police station.
In CHN, deposit your original NOC, form nos 28 and 33 along with e copy of the RC, you apply for a re-registration.
Within 4-5 hours, you'll get a challan. Within 21 days, you get a new number.

P.S - Don't go through a agent. I was quoted ~17k for changing my JH ride to TN. You save 7k if you stand in the queue at the RTOs.
    Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
Because everyone who passes, isn't a martyr!

      Thanks AARGEE & DIVYA,

Precisely I am keeping all my options open.
Might happen that I might not go at all in a worst case scenario.

Have handed the Bike day before yesterday in SVC for major changes and so on.
Just I am thinking in case I need to take to Chennai.

However AARGEE's points are well noted.
BTW is the price around 10000 INR for Reregistration legally, DIVYA?
Before that can we not ride the vehicle for SIX Months?
34567 kms and ZMR sold :(

Its 8.xx% of the bike's invoice price. I was said so. That came around 8300/-
Rest 1.5k was for the re-registration formalities.

Well, yes I rode my bike for a year and a half with just the NOC and challan. Did not even pay road tax to TN govt. I know I'm bad.
But, you can legally ride for 6 months without spending a dime from your wallet!
