  • Need Suggestion for new bike after Avenger 220

    Hey Guys

I currently own Avenger220 and its been around an year cruising it. I use my daily for Home-Office-Home commutation and my office is 30 Km from home. Besides this i also go for touring/trips on the weekend.

Although Avenger is very comfortable bike to ride I m still thinking to replace it as the bike its bit difficult to handle it in heavy traffic and off-road.

So just want your suggestion which bike would be a good replacement as from the point of view of touring, comfort and my daily commutation.

    Thanks in Advance
    Rubal

Re: Need Suggestion for new bike after Avenger 220

since you are currently using above 200cc bike the next bike in my opinion should be above 200 only cuz otherwise you will feel the new bike underpowered.
since you asked for a touring bike the best bike would be a Honda CBR250. might not be as flickable as other street bikes such as ktm or ns200 but has excellent touring capabilites. with decent handling in the city.

            Thanks murlidhar

Even i am thinking of CBR250 or Thunderbird 300/500. But experience with cruiser offroads is bit hard and doesn't know much about CBR 250. Few reviews says that on CBR hand start paining. Is it true???

Yes, CBR 250R has a slight aggressive riding stance, not as aggressive as the R15 though. You'll get used it it in no time.

Buy a Bajaj Pulsar 220 or KTM DUKE 200. CBR 250R is only good in plain roads & Royal Enfield bikes are same as Avenger not comfortable in city traffic.

Is KTM good on Higways???... Pulsar 220 or Pulsar200 NS do the bikes have good handling ?? I heard that most of time you have to lean alot to take turns...

Do you own one? Do you know about it? Have you ridden one? Have you taken for offroading? Do you know how the ride is on bad roads? Worst case, have you ever read about the FAQ of CBR 250R to know about the bike?

Are you sure about the bold part?
Agreed that CBR is faired, its bulky and thus not as easily flickable in traffic as Duke/FZ. But its plush suspension helps a lot in potholes and off roads.

I dont own a CBR but our bike group has a CBR 250R & a 150R. When we go on highways its very good to ride but when we go on hill roads for long time its engine overheats & we have to take rest to let it cool down.

Cant say much about the KTM as we have not toured in this bikes. Yes Pulsar's are good in handling but since you are riding a Cruiser & these are like sports so you will feel you are leaning more

I think i should go for a pulsar test ride..
But as far as overheating is concerned isn't that same in case with pulsar ??
As CBR is 250 and pulsar is 220/200 cc and generally higher cc bikes have better performance on hills...Isn't it ???

test ride both CBR250 and pulsar 220. the riding stance of both the bikes are different. the foot pegs are at different positions. look for the one that is more comfortable. in off road conditions you will want to stand a little on the bike meaning putting the body weight on your legs but while cruising you will want to put very little to no weight on your legs. so find a prefect balance. comfort is really very important. so better to test drive both the bikes.
