  • Bike <90k Delhi for 5ft9 with bad back

    Hi All,

    About me :
physical structure : 5'9, 73 kgs and average build
daily usage: around 10kms ( home-office-home, have to ride worst traffic conditions of NH-24 while going to Noida 62 sector )
previous bike : splendor plus ( using my uncle's )
any other information : suffering from back pain issue (due to nature of my work) from a quite a while now but still would prefer bike then using office shuttle or shared autos

    What i'm looking for :
    budget : 70 - 90 k
atmost requirement : Best Comfort Riding Quality specially specially with straight back and very little jerks
this would be my first and i'm sure the last bike and hence looking for that special one. Touring once in every 2-3 months [or even more frequently ]would also be in store as i've noticed car trips can never make you feel what you can really feel on 2 wheels.
Now i've sort-of made up my mind for Bajaj Avenger 220 but frankly not getting that confidence to buy it after hearing all the if's and but's about it. that it's rear seat is an issue, it's rear brake are lousy, front brakes gets locked, not that much power, tough to navigate in traffic, vibrations etc etc which is making me think to go for opinions from the people who know it better, whether it would be a right choice or not Or if any other bike is there which can provide me what all i want.

please suggest the best suitable bike for me.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

      Thanks Moderator for approval

      Just to add :
I haven't explored any location on bike except for a 200kms ride in GOA (obv. in Avenger only ) and in this last year of my single-hood (most certainly last year) want to live something more. and despite having a bad back i just want to have some fun instead of buying the 4 wheels and losing out on this dream [ i know, this is getting too dramatic hence closing it now ]

I understand i'm already biased towards Avenger 220 and would be more than happy to any-other option fitting into my requirement

waiting for your suggestions / responses ..

      Cheers,
      Rahul

        Consider pulsar 220.
Soft suspension, great torque, perfect posture makes it good for you!

You can look into Karizma as well, low end torque make it a breeze in city, upright position...good touring ,machine.

First of all, Test ride a Honda Unicorn. If not satisfied with its simple looks, test Yam FZ 16. if not satisfied with the power, then test the Hero ZMA. These three bikes are the most comfortable bikes in india, available now.

Everybody forgot the most comfortable bike of them all, regardless of what the road conditions have to offer you. The Hero Impulse!!

Wow, thanx to all for taking out their time and valuable suggestions. All are appreciated and most certainly i will look into all these choices but just one question which is coming into my mind is : were all these suggestion will be valid for a person with bad back (i mean ride comfort as well as keeping the back as straight as possible) and how much they will be of my help in long rides in highways (on long rides ) ?

Thanks Again to all for their valuable comments

                    Cheers ..

Although everyone have shared their options, would like to share mine too
                      ZMA>Fazer150>FZ>Impulse>Unicorn/Dazzler

Now coming to the back problem, even I have serious problem in my lower back and it requires surgery, but still I don't feel that much of pain on my RTR on daily commutes.
Yes on long rides/tours, I prefer taking short breaks to straighten my back

P.S : Welcome to Delhi Chapter, would like to see in G2Gs and yes by any chance you see a white RTR in Noida/Vaishali/Vasundhra/Anand Vihar/Sahibabad area, with front alloy as white and projector setup, do stop me for a chit chat

Thanks prateek for the comments ... i was hoping that i'll have my query answered by some one having the same problem and hence can relate better. It's good to know RTR is comfortable for you and answers few of my doubts.

we all know about ZMA being one of the good tourers but how about Fazer 150 / FZ ... and any specific reason why all these are mentioned while in comparison with Avenger ?

PS : Thanks for delhi chapter invite and i would look forward to be a part of any meet-ups but not before i fulfill my that little dream.

thanks Tejas for the informed and taking out some imp. moments from your time to suggest the best possible solution to my problem. have asked for the test-drive of impulse ( personally i don't like {that much} it's design but yes would not let this thing to bias my decision ) and will decide after that for that final choice

                            thanks again Tejas ...

the softest ride for a rider under 120 kg weight is the impulse. i have ridden the bike to god forsaken areas the bike is good as it gets under 80k. yes i have a bad back.
