  • Which bike should be my 1st one?

Hi guys ... Iam gonna buy my first bike pretty soon but the perdurable confusion surfaces again...Which one should I opt for?

Personally I was very impressed with Yamaha FZ16 but I felt the bike was a bit short for me.I am 6'1" btw...

I would prefer a bike which is newly launched...There are too many Pulsars and Karizmas on the road so that totally garbages the 'exclusivity' and thus I wouldn't prefer them...

And exclusivity doesn't mean I can go for the likes of Hayabusas coz money is kinda constraint...

So please suggest a bike for me.....

I guess .. R15 if you are really into power and style. O.w. GS150R if you just want to commute. That's my opinion.

R15, FZ16, Apache will be too small for your stature.

Thunderbird, Avenger, P200 (I know you don't want it but still..), Gladiator can be considered. Btw, what will be your primary use of your bike?
        Enna Rascalla. Mind it !!!

It would surely help us in helping you if you will provide few more informations like intended usasge, your personal liking, budget etc etc.?

By the way as you are a begginer you better start with a 125, an dif you are fine with the idea, i will suggest Honda CBF stunner.

Yep I agree ... GS150R will not only bring exclusivity as u wish but also a healthy biking experience in all probability.

                I agree ... A +1 to GSR 150 from my side too ...

Often I ride bikes and feel - Yaar, ek aur gear hota to kya baat hoti! No more with the GSR, it's most unique asset being it's 6 gears, which will add up either Top or Low or balanced, depending on ratios...

Personally, I am also exact 6'1" and I would like to add that although FZ was a bit uncomfortable after getting habitual with Pulsar, R15 was just fine!!

umm... Sure? Your Source of info?

Last time I checked, Honda said only a 125+ is confirmed, which maybe anything!

Suzuki GS150R - as far as a normal bike is concerned. this will be exclusive and should be low on maintainance. Six Cogs, Big bike feel. DO not ignore this bike.

RE Thunderbird TS - Exclusive and macho and shouldn't be a pain to maintain. (not sure on this point , someone clarify) and should match with your height

Yamaha R15 - I myself am around 5'11 so i dont think you being 2 inches more than me would cause you great pain on the R15. Its comfortable for tall riders as well. and we do have tall R15 owners

My main purpose is to commute to the college...apart from that the weekend trips with friends...
The budget is about 1.2 lacs but can be stretched easily

My personal liking as i mentioned earlier is fz16...I wish there was someway of incresing the seat height []

Are there any new launches in the pipeline which my intrest me???

And YES style is also a concern!!!

As per the requirements from current bikes GS150R is made for you. Though 1.2lac for a commuter bike is way more than enough in India. Sad but, there is no super commuter bike in that range. Above 1 lac -- you'll mostly find sport bikes.

As per recents news and rumours, there are a couple of bikes lined up:
                            1) TVS Apache Menace -- RTR with 180CC
                            2) Honda CBR125/150 -- not enough evidence
                            3) Bajaj Sprint -- may not interest you -- may be pretty commuterish
                            4) Kawasaki Ninja 250CC -- may be in the range of 2lacs-3lacs -- not sure though
                            5) Bajaj Pulsar upgrades -- may not interest you.

I think, only Honda CBR125/150 may really interest or fit to your requirements.

U sure abt this piece of info ??? Any pointers about this would be helpful... As per my interaction with Honda showroom guys, Honda is concentrating more on scooters in 2009... They might change the head-light doom for the Unicorn maybe sometime during the year (Not sure, this is pure speculation)... After all why would they kill Unicorn which is just doing great even after 5+ years of launch ??? CBR 150R, i really doubt so
