Why don't you consider YBR 110? I think it'd be a good option.

      Slight correction above:
Pulsar 220, 3.5 years(exactly), 49k km. Parts changed apart from accidents and regular maintenance: Nil

It has been a reliable workhorse for me and I don't have any plans to let it go anytime soon. Also, some other people on this forum are much closer to 6 digits on their P220 odometers than Krish and I are.

Coming back to the original query, a bike will last you as long as you can take care of it. If you let go of the bike at the first sign of trouble, then, I am afraid that the only one who benefits from this strategy is the secondhand buyer. The actual maintenance cost of most bikes in the 100-110cc space will be similar. It may be lower for some as compared to others, but the difference won't be high enough to sway purchase decisions based on maintenance costs alone. The important requirement here is that you should *like* whatever you eventually *choose*. Nothing else can ensure that your bike lasts more than 2-3 years regardless of make.

The following thread can be used as a ready reckoner for all kinds of commuter motorcycle purchases. It doesn't include Discover 100T into the mix but most of the rest have been covered so do go through it in case you need other options.

If however you want to stick to your initial shortlist, the following thread has them compared head to head.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Yamaha seriously needs to up their game in 100 cc -125 cc bikes. This is where all the money is..... right now they seem too busy in 150cc segment.

Yamaha SS125 is one of the best bikes in the 125cc segment. Them you also get the YBR125, a slightly downsized version of the SS. What more do you want?

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Yes I fully agree. It's only due to the lack of advertising with big stars, not much of commuter level Yamaha bikes are seen. I own a SS125 and know what it is as compared to its rivals.

Precisely. I have used a Gladiator RS for over a year, and it never felt like a 125. It was big, comfortable and had adequate power to cruise at 90kph and touch 110kph if I pushed her hard.

Back to topic: I guess the OP can consider the YBR110 as well. Its just as well refined as a yuga and feels very comfortable in city.

I would suggest you to go for Discover 100T, Coz technically speaking, its a very advanced motorcycle.
The Dtsi technology is great from Bajaj as always. Power & mileage combi is great.
                  Low on maintenance.
First bike in 100cc to have a 4 valve engine, which helps in better power output & improved mileage. Gas filled shocks at the rear. The bike has good stability than the Dream yuga. The quality of Discover 100 isnt the best, but not that bad though.
The Styling of Discover too is much better than the Dream Yuga.
Overall its a better package than the Dream yuga.

RE350 is a 40-year old design which sells like hotcakes as a "classic remake" marque.. Jokes apart, when Hero can keep selling its 20-year-old CD100 designs with just a change in stickers and headlamp bikinis, yet people buy them in hordes, what's wrong with a five-year old design? It's the performance and reliability that counts.

Went thru the link and the subsequent comments and was pissed off. For all I wonder - Why do non-RE owners hate Bulleteers and why do bulleteers hate the rest of the bikers?

If biking is a religion, then these 'cults' of bikers are the various subcastes who keep fighting for no valid reason at all.

Well.....TS never had any inclination to buy motorcycle having classic looks . Though its offtopic, BUT still it is relevant to say here that now even HERO Splendor is getting counted into bikes having classic british looks. Read it in one of bike's review. There is real life proof for it too, People in Punjab are buying either Bullet or Hero Splendor now!! So here also , YBR gets out of race in front of Splendor. On serious note, you are correct bro, people are buying CD deluxe as if it is coming in monthly ration .

Had noticed that always. The hate between other bikers & bulleteers
Thats coz of the attitude of them towards its Legacy, saying BULLET IS GUN, Others are Plastic crap.
Shouldnt do that though. Need to respect other bikers.

Ask me what I hate about my RE 350.... when it refuses to start and I have to search for Mechanics that CAN repair Enfield. I remember day or two when I have to pull it for good 4-5 KMs to find bullet mechanic. Now who says I need to go to GYM ??

Why I still have Enfield... the list is too long for things I love in my RE.

While all this bullet discussion is heartening, its Off Topic on a thread meant to discuss 100cc Commuters.

Members are requested to stick to topic henceforth.
