thanks to all of you guys for being so patient with me,as it was my first post ever anywhere and i had lots of query as it is my first bike.so the final verdict is to go for Suzuki GS150r as trigger is not out yet and nor does it look like something of unicorn's caliber.also because the moniker sounds plastic.unicorn seems little dated(honestly both look lame,just to my liking ) and feels like it need a makeover in terms of err..i don't know,but dazzler doesn't look like it.*sigh!now i get it how overshadowed abishek bachhan and tussar kapoor feels*

now the only woe that remains are a Suzuki showroom,a new phone and a minor fact that i have never ridden that Suzuki.
but as most of experienced guys here are so gaga and beiber over it and quality seems to be of unicorn's domain,i know it will click.

so Suzuki gs150r shall be my first bike.now to search and TD one

Congrats @hage bhai on your choice. The Suzuki GS was one of my 'wish-I-had-one' bikes, especially a white one!

What I loved about it?
* Six gears and great torque
* Lovely twin horn
* Lovely instrument console.

What I hated?
* Somewhat outdated looks
* Slightly hard seats (can be taken care of - can add extra foam at any local guy)
* If you plan to use the heel shifter, you'll find the shifter heel position a bit too far and tall for comfort. Will not be an issue if you use the toes only.

Would suggest you to head over to the ownership thread and know more about the stallion you are planning to ride soon!

Im extremely sorry for not mentioning the BELOVED suzuki Gs-150R as i have not read your choices of bikes properly as i was a bit sleepy Never mind.
I forgot to mention, I am a diehard fan of the suzuki Gs-150R. Trust me, im speaking frankly, The suzuki Gs-150 is the BEST 150cc motorcycle i have ever ridden. The moment i have ridden it, i told my friend to buy it.
As said above, The six speed gearbox is great to hit the highways with ease. Good horn & console.
The thing i extremely liked the most in the Suzuki Gs-150R is its ride quality & Engine Refinement that too with a very great fuel efficiency man (heard it gives 52-54 kmpl in city)
The engine is so refined that when you stop at a signal on a neutral, you never feel as if the engine is on start, no vibrations can be felt when riding, Honda unicorn being one of the most refined mills in 150cc segment, i never thought i would find a bike as refined as Unicorn, But the Suzuki Gs-150R is even more refined than a Honda Unicorn/Dazzler.
Finalize your buy, Gor for Gs-150R. You are going to enjoy every ride on it.

well he is only 55 kg that is too lean guy, it will not be an easy task to handle gs,hunk and xtreme...
its better to get td of the bikes making sure that he can handle them...

I would suggest the unicorn or the xtreme. Very comfortable. Ideal seating for a tourer. Relaxed, straight etc. The unicorn comes with a mono-shock so it'll be a tad bit more comfortable. The hunk is just a stylish version of the xtreme. I say the unicorn is the better vehicle. But none are as fun as an RTR. Alby got a second hand rtr180 recently. He just told you that the rtr is not a very capable tourer, given the vibes and the seating(viz clip-ons). I have a different opinion. I admit that I haven't actually done more than 700km in one day, but I have a gut feeling that I will still find my rtr comfortable.

The vehicle is a full 10kg lighter, has a shorter wheel base, generates more power and torque, has a full AC electrical set up, etc. Beats all other bikes you can look at. The FZ is probably the only bike that can match up. But mileage figures aren't that great. It really has nothing else against it except maybe the pricing. Its a good bike. All features of the RTR plus comfort. It even generates a little more torque. But with the 80k budget, pitch in another 5k and I think you'll even get the RTR180.

So there you go. Unicorn, Xtreme and Hunk. They've got comfort going for them. The RTR brothers. They've got fun and raw power. And the FZ. It's got fun+raw ability+comfort on its side. The most eligible bikes in the 150cc class. Bikes like the SZ are pure commuters. So I wont suggest them.

I completely forgot the GS-150r! So sorry! Its a good choice you made. 6 gears is the bomb! You will enjoy the bike.

i will be doing 700km+ back to back on consecutive days.can the engine or more importantly my buttocks handle the pain on a gs150r?
the ownership thread gives no clue on its touring capacities(i may have missed somethings as its 1.1k pages long) nor does the tourer section have any bike featuring it...any links??

also the bike seems to be generating two very common opinions-never heard of it(most of the answers from real people i asked) and good(on xbhp)
even Suzuki seems more concerned about PR of hayate than this bike..

well gs is the bikes which is much suitable but the cons are like their are not enough service centre in india only some cities have suzuki showrooms ...part availibility will be a mess...so its better to avoid gs untill their is showroom in your city.

I have personally toured on my friend's GS and can vouch for it's touring capabilities. Some points to note, as mentioned earlier: The seats are a bit too hard. You'd need to add some extra cushion to make it comfortable for 700km rides. And the heel-shifter. And better headlights, if you plan to ride after dark.

It's a sad fact that this gem of a bike is not as popular as the Unicorn or the Hunk or the Fazer - the primary reason being it's comparatively dull styling (parked next to a FZ/Hunk, the GS & Unicorn look rather outdated) and secondary reasons like it's poor marketing/PR and limited penetration of Suzuki's network in small towns. And if there are no travelogues by any GS150 owners, don't lose heart - you can be the first!!!

1. Pulsar 200 NS
2. Pulsar 220F
3. Fazer
4. GS150R
5. Gladiator (yes, I miss my Gladiator RS !)
6. RX100
7. Classic/TB 500 (I know this dream won't come true!)

And ofcourse the ZMR - but I frequently swap my CBR with my friends' ZMR - so it doesn't figure in the list!!!!

i made a rough inquiry and they quoted a price of 73k for GS150r on roads,still looking for one among friends for a td..
my cousin then told me how he paid 74k for Apache 180+3k on registration!!!

is it worth the premium i am asked for a difference of over 4 hp and 2.2 NM?

LOL...yes, why not!

Inspite of all the performance figures, the Apache has never been considered a touring bike and has the infamous vibrations above 80kph. So yes, even if it has better performance at the same budget, you'll miss the GS's smooth engine and the touring capabilities
