p220 vs the R15

If you are looking for a bike for mainly commuting in and around the city which can overtake easily and is comfortable to ride then the 220 is a good option for your dad. The bike has good low and mid range torque coupled with a wide power band which are ideal for tackling traffic and overtaking without breaking a sweat. Moreover the riding position of the 220 in my opinion will be more comfortable than the R15 for your dad because of its high clip-ons and well cushioned and slightly slanted front seat.Originally posted by augusta View PostAfter loads of pleading and three consecutive hunger strikes, dad has finally agreed to sell off the mighty honda and buy 'himself' a bike!..to my surprise hes not happy with the ongoing conditions of motorcycling in India so couldnt have anything in mind except the p220 and the R15!..but now we are confused??
He would be riding it most of the times and his top priorities include comfortability and the bike's ability to move around easily in traffic and also should be able to overtake traffic with ease.
He doesent tour much(and i cant!!) so the basically it would be in and around the city.!!.FE isnt a problem until and unless he is happy with the bike!
What say guys??
ps-the 15 grand price difference isnt a problem though.Watch my Baby R1 clock 148kmph at http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=cAHbYl...e=channel_page.

In between 220 or r15,220 is perfect for ur dad,r15 is more inclined towards youth like u. if possible also consider zma for peace of mind cos this bike is mostly ridden by ur dad.NOTHING FOREVER,EXCEPT CHANGE.
Without opportunity,TALENT is nothing.

My recommendation would be the Suzuki GS150R. Excellent for a middle aged person commuting in city. Refinement, maneouverability, good enough power for city, latest gizmos-Can't really think of anything better than that!Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Dude, you are saying the other way.. The 220 has a better seating position than teh R15. R15 has a sporty seating position (as u said) which is not suitable for long rides or rides in city traffic as it will cause back pain. P220 scores more as its ergonomics is suitable for long rides.Originally posted by niranjanvaidya View PostThats a very tricky question. Had it been a bike intended for you, I could have easily asked you to go in for anyone that suits your taste and comfort. Since the bike is for your Dad, there are other things that are involved in this decision...so lets look at it this way
Yamaha R15: Great bike, nimble, powerful and very reliable. May not really present you with a lot of torque low down (as compared to the 220). The seating position is sporty but comfortable; this may or may not be to your dad's liking.
P220: Great bike, raw power and torque. On the maintenance front, it may need more care than an R15. Frequent visits to PBK may not really be enjoyable. Handling is nice and seating is fairly sporty. The 220s seating posture may place more weight on the wrists initially till you find the correct position for your height.
All in all, if YOU were choosing a bike for YOURSELF, you would not go wrong with either of these. But for your dad, I would recommend the Karizma. Have a look at what all the ZiMA offers
HH Karizma (ZiMA): powerful and decent handler, proven reliability, quality is top class and you may not really require frequent visits to the service center. Seating position is very nice and you can actually much miles without feeling any fatigue.
Finally, I would recommend the ZiMA.
And believe me, P220 needs less maintenance than an R15.One & Only,
