[[Help/Suggest]] Used KTM Duke 200 (first batch) Worth buying or not?

    Hi all!

There is a used KTM Duke 200 for sale and I am interested in it.

The thing is, it is the Feb'12 model, the first batch of Duke 200.

I have learned that there were some problems with the chain in the first batch of Duke 200. Also, can somebody tell me about the problems fixed in the second batch so that I can know about the problems NOT fixed in this one :P

Is it worth buying? Can the chain problem be fixed, if its there? How much will be the cost and are there any other major flaw(s)?

The quoted price is 1.15 lakh. I have offered 80k.. will go to check the bike today... :P

How much is it worth? Feb 2012 Orange colour KTM Duke 200?

    Thank you for the help!
    -Valkyrie

No point starting thread for a bike when one already exists of yours. Thanks.

I don't know about the first batch of bikes being defective or anything like that. But considering he must have bought it for around 1.25. I think if you can get it for around a lakh, provided bike is in good condition, it would be a good deal.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

        Sorry for that!
Actually I thought I had already requested to the mods to close the thread then I should not post any further..
anyways thanks for the correction and suggestion .

I have cancelled that deal after a look at the bike.
The bike had evidence of being used for stunts, like scratched tail light, broken reg. no. plate light... the rear grab rails were removed, the handlebar had evident scratch..
the guy was not accepting that it was used for stunts... then he accepted... anyways, I ain't gonna buy that... its in pretty bad shape.....

I had one more question in my mind.

How much should I pay for a Red Honda CBR250R (non ABS) Nov. 2012 Model with lots of scratches on the silencer guard (he tells me its because of shoes of the pillion , no signs of a fall though), 8,800kms done?
I have quoted 1,00,000, he is at 1,15,000..

        Thanks again!!!

How are the scratches? IMHO shoes can't easily scratch the silencer guard. I guess the bike had a fall and the guy replaced the broken parts but didn't replace the silencer guard. Can you post a picture of the scratches?

My stupid bad... didn't click any photo.. :banghead:

The scratches have no dents...... and if he replaced the costly parts then how much does a silencer guard cost...

But, a suspicion rises in my mind as he told me that the silencer guard is prone to get scratched by shoes impact and that every time he goes for a service he has to get it repainted....costs around 200 bugs... :what: :what:

            I don't think that's possible...
He may be saying that to justify the scratches.... but something can be fishy.....

I will try to contact him and click a snap of the scratches...

I have seen bikes which has been in brutal accidents with just scratches on the silencer. No dents, other parts like fairings, throttle lever, grip, headlight assembly were totaled. Again, shoes can't scratch the silence guard unless the pillion wears hobnailed WWII era combat boots. He may not have replaced the silencer guard because of non availability of parts or maybe he could not find just the guard without the silencer. Since it's non ABS version, I guess he had a few crashes on it Anyway seems fishy to me, proceed with caution.

The Silencer guard gets scratched v easily in traffic and parking lots. It's a scratch magnet. 700 Bucks to replace. I repainted mine once then changed it during the 2 years I had my cbr 250r non abs
