Ok, don't kill me for this, but I'd suggest ZMA.
Why? ZMR has 0.6hp extra, but weights 10 kg more. Hence power:weight ratio goes off. Moreover, the engine is air cooled. Hence, the ZMA is a better choice.

Mileage figures will be in higher 30s for a ZMA in city and around 40-45 on highways at max. Add 7-10 kmpl over it for ZMR.

Even though the TS opts for a ZMR, I'll be happy. I own one!
        Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

I used to own a ZMA too... and I am really happy with the ride quality of ZMR more than the ZMA but yes.. ZMA weighs less and its a good choice too.. again.. its the choice and opinion of each rider that differs

Easy-peasy. Want a big-looking, faired bike with better FE? ZMR. No fairing, more nimble? ZMA.

              Guys,
I have some questions on ZMA and ZMR

Apart from looks what exactly Difference between two

1] ZMR - FI , ECU along with diffrent sensors
              R - Carb based

              2] ZMR - Tubeless Tires
R - Does it comes with Tubeless Tires ?

3] ZMR - Suspensions IGRS gas charged
R - Suspension are not gas charged only hydrolic ?

Yes, Apart from FI and it's related ECU, the ZMR comes with a lot of sensors including a bank angle sensor which cuts off the engine when it feels that the bike has tilted too much to be safe. Tyres on the HH-ZMA were tubed ones, not sure if HMC has upgraded them to TL. And yes, rear shocks on the ZMA are the regular, hydraulic ones and not the gas charged shocks. Among other differences, most important is the ~10kg gain in weight and the change in dynamics due to the weight.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

I guess the new ZMAs are coming with TL tires...

I forgot to mention the handle bars.. They are completely cool and sexy in the ZMR..

And you will find the Choke missing in the ZMR as its a FI engine which doesn't give you trouble during cold starts.. I have left my ZMR stranded in my parking for almost 2 weeks during the winter in Delhi (January).. after I returned, i took the key and turned on the ignition and the bike started in single self..

well, one negative rather a con of ZMR is the absence of a kick start.. if your battery is dead.. you will have no other choice but to push start the bike.. and in ZMA it is not an issue as you have a kicker.. and As for as I remember, the ZMA doesn't need a battery to start it.. but the ZMR requires a battery to be fitted to start it..

like if you have given your bike battery for charge, in this case, you can still ride the ZMA.. but the ZMR cannot be ridden..

Not sure about the new ZMAs but the old ones were like that..

and how could i forget.. the absence of Fuel Main Reserve knob in ZMR.. I miss it a lot but being a FI.. you won't find it in ZMR

otherwise everything is as bbsrailfan said..

                    1) Riding position should be comfortable
                    2) Decent fuel economy ( around 35 +)
                    3) Should be comfortable for pillion
                    4) my budget is around 1.2 lacks

on a research i found out some options:

                    1) Bajaj Avenger 220 - it is comfortable bike but pillion seat is very narrow and rear suspensions are stiffer
Does it make seance to overrule latest pulsar 200ns (Bigger in power, torque and latest tech like 3 sparks, Dual disks, tubeless tires
over old tech avenger lacking rear disk and tubeless tires ?)

                    2) Bajaj Pulsar 200ns - Latest tech bike from bajaj but is it suitable for long rides with pillion ? riding position ,also the stiffer mono suspension and pillion comfort

                    3) Karizma r or Karizma ZMR - no idea abut these

                    Please guys suggest meee
If you want a tourer with pillion comfort than just add some more 40ks and go for CBR 250.
This will do everything you need. City as well as tour whether it's 200kms or 2000kms.
This has better power, stability, speed and performance with good pillion comfort.
The 250cc gives you best power and speed with excellent mileage. Many of my friends are using it as daily ride to office as well.

Note: CBR 250 is not for cornering...

If you can't increase your budget or wait to save then go for following INMO:

P220: Good on highways, Dual Disc, projectors, good stability on highspeeds if mileage is not a concern,
                    else ZMR.

Test ride with wife and check which one suits you and your wife better.

Out of all the Pulsar220 or KarizmaR or ZMA suits your preferences for long touring with a pillion. Avenger220 is also good but not for high speed cruising.

Who said P220 cannot do 100+ speeds all day long for fast cruising. I have done speeds above the same and it remains rocksteady !

No one said it.. it wont be as smooth as a zmr or a zma.. and reliability comes into picture here.. many know how reliable zma engine and zmr engines are.. a pulsar engine will start making horrible noise when at high speed and if taken for a long tour.. now pls dont say it wont. Cos thats why every prefers zma or zmr... if u still feel so.. take the p220 for a 1400km trip in 2days and notice the beat of the engine.. u ll know..

You maybe right in what you say. I am right in my own context since I have done pretty long distances on P220 at phenomenal speeds and the bike remained calm. There are a lot of members who would vouch with what I say ! ZMA and ZMR are definately good tourers . The thread poster has a choice with both of them !
