  • What to buy?

    Hi All,

I have been using Hero ZMR from last 2yrs and now am looking for a change. ZMR is a beauty with power, I like the pickup and ride. I do not like the aerodynamics of the bike and handling.

Well, I have tried few bikes in recent days,

    Pulsar 220 : don't like it, toocommon
    Pulsar 200ns : didn't impress me
R15 : short for my height
CBR 250 : didn't drive but got ok feedback for qbuild quality and good abs
    KTM duke : don't like
Enfield classic 350 : not a fan, but would like to try thunderbird 500

Which bike to buy as an upgrade? Not too costly, good build, awesome handling, powerful engine, ok resale value. I drive approx 35km per day approx. Kindly help.

    Regards,
    ShreySri

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

LOL! u've ruled out about 90% of the options already.
duke 390 [even if u dont like - u will fall in love with her, once u test ride it ;-)]
      ninja 300
      ninja 650
      hd superlow / iron 883
avengers & bullets - i wud not advise - basically old-wine-in-new-bottle kind of machines, those two...

You want to upgrade?? With all the options sidelined, how can you upgrade?

Check out the RE Desert Storm, Ninja 300, HD Iron 883 (costs 7+)

        Cheerz!!

          Re: What to buy?

Well, most of the options you've listed aren't an 'upgrade'. The Ninja 300 will be more of a real upgrade, though, if your pockets permit, the N650 is a much better machine to own. Regarding RE - don't own one if you aren't mad about one. On a lower budget, you have the 375cc twins from HTM/BAL. Since the Duke doesn't appeal to you, you can wait for the P375, which will be a blast-for-the-buck

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

            Thanks for the reply.

My little bro just got P220, seriously don't like the cheap plastic feel of dashboard and other parts.

I will test drive duke, but its naked and street bike, which won't favor me.

Would love to get Feedback from CBR owners about in city ride in traffic, build quality and performance and maintenance costs.

N300 &N650 is a dream, my budget is up to 2lacs.

Any idea about P375 launch? It will be hard to wait for long.

CBR is a good bike to ride, but if you compare with ZMR, you will not notice any drastic 'upgrade' in performance, since the ZMR and CBR are barely 25cc apart. And of course the goodies - fat rubber, liquid cooling etc. The CBR is slightly more refined than ZMR, but heavier, though both bikes will do 80kph at 5000 RPM on top gear. Maintenance will be slightly higher compared to a ZMR, but less than a Pulsar.

P375 is expected 2-3 months after the D390...so that's quite some time.

Heard of the RE Continental GT cafe racer? A new-wine-in-new bottle kinda Enfield
And it's gonna be here by year-end

There are others like Suzuki GW 250 that might be within your budget and the forever-upcoming Yamaha 250 cc, supposed to be unveiled to Indonesian media "soon"

Thanks DeVille saw that didn't like it much, and I am too impatient to wait for that long.

@bbsrailfan, yea I think I will wait for D390, will see if I can get cowl mod like the one in D1190. Not a big fan of Bajaj products though, no offence.

The N300 will give you both, the 'wow' factor and the boost in performance that you're looking for. If you can push your budget, nothing like it!

That's true...but if the keyword here is "upgrading" and not "switching to something different", then none of the bikes under 2 lacs are an ideal choice, just for the simple fact that they won't offer anything substantial over his current ride.

@Shrey, You could consider a used GT250R or Ninja 250 - they would definitely fit your budget and are more 'performance oriented' than a CBR or the likes.

@DeVille yup it will be way over my budget, but wish budget was not a concern, would have owned almost all monsters out there. :Bling: :Bling:

@bbsrailfan, I am now willing to wait for D390. If i dont like street look, will get the modded cowl like D1190. I think under 2lacs, D390 will give an upgrade i am looking for. Too eager to see if it comes with ABS or not, that will help me decide if i want it or not.

                            Regards,
