Re: A bike for both me and my dad??? Need help.
You are good in considering the SZ-R. You and your dad both would love it. (At least my dad & my bro both find it good! And my dad never rode a bike before the SZR, only a '80 Bajaj scooter).
Shine...your dad will love it Not sure about u though

Re: A bike for both me and my dad??? Need help.
When there is a question of dads so it has to be mileage and comfort. But when at the same time it is son then it has to be advance, faster, kool etc.Originally posted by skm.soumya View PostHello fellow riders. Feeling delighted penning down my first post here at xbhp.
1. Budget - 60,000
2. Age -54/21 ( Dad / Me )
3. Height -5'3"/5'4"
4. Weight - 60/65
5. Intended usage - City commuting, College use.
6. Fuel Efficiency requirement - 55 kmpl
7. City & Highway percentage usage - city - 80%/ highway 20 %
8. Approximate Daily running - 10 to 20 km
9. Town - Bargarh , Odisha
10. Special Preference - Youthful enough for me but sober enough for my dad to ride it.
Did i left any other requirements feel free to ask me.
SO to compromise both needs we have to come down to middle line.
Check out Dazzler/CBZX/Hunk these bikes comes with Dual Disc and are still good in market with their performance and mileage/looks etc.
P150 still holds the less maintenance, good average bike but you need to think with Dual Disc or without Dual Disc ??
The other one is GS150, but I think you both won't enjoy that, it's a taller bike.
SZR won't give you 50-55kmpl in city. Though it is best to ride and handle in traffic. If you are not looking at mileage then nothing beats FZ in comfort and handling. Else go with better spec and features.
So From me Test Ride Dazzler/CBZX/Hunk. Don't worry on the Hero part, It will still compete with any brand in india for ages.Last edited by Guest; 05-08-2013, 10:55 AM.

Re: A bike for both me and my dad??? Need help.
if you need a mileage of 55+ in city you should better go with bikes less than 135cc...
if you want a higher cc bike the mileage will be reduced by 5-10 kmpl i.e. you will get 45-50 kmpl in city...
High mileage bike which suit your requirement is bajaj 135ls> Ignitor > Stunner"Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever"

Don't go for GS150R as it is a tall bike, you will find it difficult to climb it. I don't think any 150 cc bike comes for 70k around.Originally posted by skm.soumya View PostHello fellow riders. Feeling delighted penning down my first post here at xbhp.
Recommending a bike for a person is let alone difficult. But here I am asking all of you guys to recommend a bike which could suit both me and my dads need.
.First let me explain how this decision of buying a new bike came up.My dad is using the mighty "cosmo blaster" since last 6 years.
Till now the bike runs good all though it has problems.(like no spares are available,Dangling side body panels, etc). Generally speaking i hate that bike a lot .I hate that name. I hate how it looks . I hate it
.I have been bugging my dad to buy a new bike since last 3 years. But my dad kept saying that this bike full fills my need so no need to change it.When I return home on my holidays (By the way i am pursuing my mechanical engineering at Bhubaneswar) I get totally bored riding pillion on my friends bikes (All are Apache Rtr 160 ). But now I have my industrial training at y home town it self for one month. So i would be traveling for around 20 km daily to the nearby industry. So dad agreed to buy a new bike which both of us can use.As after my training this bike will be mostly used by my dad hence narrowing down on a bike is becoming a head ache.I thought pulsar 135 ls would be good for both of us but today i went to the show room to inquire about the bike. But I got shocked to hear that it has been discontinued
.The sales guy said it has been discontinued since 8 months( I was like What the F**K .The company website still shows the bike and I didn't came across this news here at xbhp also). Now here I am in dilemma choosing a bike youthful enough for me but sober enough for my dad.

Also 150+cc bikes didn't give more mileage so looking at your budget 70k and preferences, I would suggest to stick with 125cc or 100 cc bikes..
You can look at the following bikes. All bikes look stylish except Shine. Both you and your Dad could ride..
Honda CB Shine, Suzuki Slingshot, Yamaha SS125, Hero Ignitor/Glamour.
There is also a newly launched phoenix 125 in the market.
P.S. If your dad doesn't agree with your choice then try to convince him

Re: A bike for both me and my dad??? Need help.
Why not the SS125(Gladiator)? Big bike feel, far superior engine quality(Yamaha engine-kind of legend), very smooth ride quality and stylish as well. Both you and your dad will get the distinctness while on road due to it's low visibility. Very relaxed riding due to the ergonomics and seating posture. Go for a test ride and decide.A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

I would suggest Discover 125ST. Good looking bike for both aged and yound guys.
Has good amount of power. Handling is also good.
I presented it to my brother recently (65K on road in Chennai). I took it to 105KMPh. though , after 95+ speeds you cant see anything in the side mirror becaus of the vibration. i didnt mean it vibrates like hell. but you cant get a clear picture through the side mirror.
