• Need urgent help: Buying Pulsar 200NS

Hi guys!! Rodus here, apparently this is my first post here.

From Chennai and to be honest I was not much interested in bikes but last month I decided to buy a bike of my requirement and I am really confused guys, which bike to buy. I started googling for bikes and my love for bike started.

I love pulsar and tvs apache. I am a avid reader of this forum and I love people helping out novice guy like me.

Let me say my requirement

1. My height 6.1 ft and well built (85kgs) and I need a very comfortable bike ( that include pillion rider too) that suits my height and weight
2. Good stylish bike as I am just 24
3. Decent mileage is okay but I wont compromise on performance.
4. Reliability. Not that I won't take care of my bike but I would prefer low maintenance bike. Low maintenance in the sense I don't like parts getting replaced often. I can spend how much ever I want for upgrading stuffs. I hope I am clear

I have shortlisted Pulsar 200NS. Anyother suggestions? Any other information you need to know?
Anyother Pulsar series can I go for?

I am stressing on pillion comfort again is I have a girlfriend and we love travelling. Own a car but we need a change.

Hope I was clear on my part.

Thanks in advance guys. hope to get suggestion as soon as possible.

Re: Need urgent help: Buying Pulsar 200NS

ur query is subjective & u will have loads of responses from folks around here that span from 100cc to 1Kcc range.
i am assuming that u want a bike that will suit the daily commute & the weekend touring w/ pillion with equal elan.
ns200 is a good bike - handling wise a revolution as in comparison to the earlier versions - i personally dont take to the 'plasticky' overkill on it... but that is my opinion... the beauty is in the eye of the beholder & the ns200 excels in the dynamics, refinement, handling front.
you may also kindly consider ZMA / ZMR - my personal favorite for the tasks listed out by u above.
in case u have deeper pockets, a kwanja300 or in case u r more opulent, a kwanja650 perhaps can do justice to ur needs.
last but not the least... test ride all the bikes that fall in ur budget / requirements & let the decision of buying be a combined decision of ur intellect & ur heart... do not compromise one on account of the other!
best wishes! :-)

I would personally recommend the R15 if you are not going to go with a pillion every time.
The handling of the r15 is crazy good and it fits most of your criteria. I myself am of decent height and build and i feel very comfortable riding it.

Pulsar ns is also a great choice but i have not ridden it extensively.

that's a bad idea as R15 won't be soo good for his height and also his requirements, the ZMA would be a better option considering all these and also @mr.rodus if you can say us your budget, I have plenty other options for you. . .

Rakesh.. My budget comes max of 1.2L not more than that. Mostly I will travel with pillion or else I will opt for R15.

Will pillion feel comfortable in P200NS ?

I felt when i rode the v2 that yamaha has made some adjusments to make tall riders comfortable. Not that i am not comfortable on a v1.
Saying that zma is a good bike but i wont really prefer it. The 2 k kms i have ridden on a zma have been relaxed but you just don't fill the "zing" which you do on an R15.

@Op test drive both the bikes and you will know what i mean. You just wont go back to the zma after riding the R15.

then within that budget, you can see bikes like karizma ZMA, Unicorn/Dazzler as they are comfortable and good for pillion as well. . . 200 NS pillion seat isn't so comfortable like that of ZMA's and as said by vantheman5211, if you opt for a r15, initially or may be for some time you'll experience back and wrist pain and pillion seat is not suitable as I personal had experience two times from it, one in the ringroad wherein my friend was riding and I was sitting at the back, a small pothole or small don't remember exactly came and we were around 80kmph, I was virtually thrown up and if I had not caught hold of my friend's shoulder, I would had ended up badly and second incident was when we were in a traffic with the lowest speed, around 5-10 kmph and suddenly he applied the brakes little hard as it was little traffic there, suddenly I was pushed from the rear seat to the front seat and he went still more front and hit the tank but no injury was made. . . So, I think it's good but not the best. . . I would personally suggest Karizma, it may be a old design or looks same but it's one reliable machine. . . Choose wisely. . .

Cheers!!!

I am not saying R15 is a bad bike, definitely not, it's one of the best bikes I have ridden. . . I am 5ft 8" and I personally feel the bike is too good and also really enjoy riding. . . I have been riding that bike since first the V2 has been launched, that's when my friend brought it and I ride more than the rider himself and he also pretty much likes my riding. . . What I am trying to say is it does not look good for people who are tall. . . For short height people, it looks excellent but for tall people it looks sought of not good and also not from the cosmetic point of view but also considering his budget and also his requirements I said ZMA is a good bike. . . Even if I am also given a test ride of both R15 and ZMA and my requirement is just show off and I have extra greens to spend then I would definitely go for ZMA but if I want an overall performance bike and also want to take pillion regularly and also if I want more comfort then the ZMA feels better than R15. . .

Cheers!!!

Don't agree mate. sorry.
My father is 6.1 and he looks decent on the v1. The proportions are the same as me heavy build and all that.
I do agree that the karizma is reliable, but it just doesn't hold a candle on the R15 in terms of performance. Since you say you ride your friend's R15 yourself, I see that you agree that it is one of the best bikes you have ridden.

Then you contradict yourself in terms of the following statement

"Even if I am also given a test ride of both R15 and ZMA and my requirement is just show off and I have extra greens to spend then I would definitely go for ZMA (i guess you meant the R15)but if I want an overall performance bike and also want to take pillion regularly and also if I want more comfort then the ZMA feels better than R15. . ."

Infact if i was dead on for pillion comfort, then i do look for something better which still has the current tech.
Recommending the Karizma, you are basically recommending him a machine which has older tech and the main basis of your point is pillion comfort.

Zmr is the perfect choice. Why zma?? Zmr fits your budget and requirements. Got good tech and more fuel efficient than zma. And bro R15 v2 is not comfortable with pillion. As a rider,i hate pillion in R15

@Rakesh.. My budget comes max of 1.2L not more than that. Mostly I will travel with pillion or else I will opt for R15. ok this is condition and this is his budget, and tell me what better reliable bike you get in this budget. . ? You won't get a CBR250R or at least a 150R to fit into his budget. . . That's what I said when my budget is low and I have more requirements I will opt for Karizma sacrificing the best bike R15 in that list. . . . The thing is simple, if he can extend his budget more, then he can surely go for a CBR150R, I know it's not as good when it comes to outer cosmetic appearance and some minor tweaks but overall, it's a good bike and beats R15 in almost many stages in performance and it's quite more comfortable too. . . Even more if he can extend his budget, he might be able to get a 250R, best bike but again he has to sacrifice FE and if he can wait for some more time, he can get to know about the new upcoming pulsar 375 which is rumored to be released in this year end. . . In R15 the pillion seat is not comfortable and not easily accessible and you can't make your parents sit on it. . . So from thinking from all the point of view, I suggested him the ZMA and I even mentioned in the above comments that it's an old bike with pretty old technology but definitely a reliable machine. . . And at the end of the day, he's the one who is going to choose and we can just guide him with our opinions. . .

Cheers!!!

-Sofa like seats for both, rider and pillion.
-Comfortable riding position for tall people.
-Bullet proof reliability.
-Good performance.
Simple. Get the Karizma. Do look at the ZMR, man. That PGM-FIed engine is a gem.
