  • Need help on buying a bike

    Hi,

One of my friend who is 5'8" tall & of 75 kg wants to buy a bike in 150 cc segment by considering following things.

    1. Budget is 100 K.
    2. Daily usage is 50 kms & around 100 kms on Sundays.
    3. Bike will be ridden on city roads only.

Please suggest him a good bike.

    Query Approved
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

what's the FE he needs. . ? If he doesn't matter with it and just performance and looks, he can consider
      1. Fz (awesome bike if you ask me)
      2. Fazer (good looking bike and also a great tourer, he can consider this for his daily )
      3. Unicorn (which I am using currently and I am also 5'8")
      4. Trigger (new bike in the market with India's first CBS technology)
      5. Karizma (all time favorite bike)
      6. Pulsar 220/200NS. . .

      Cheers!!!
      Yamaha Rx135 - 2005 - 2007 (stolen )
      Scooty Pep - 2008 - 2012 (sold)
      Honda Unicorn - 2012 - 2015 (crashed)
Hero Honda Splendor+ 2015 - present (temporary ride)

Re: Need help on buying a bike

With a budget of 100k buying anything other than 200 NS is strictly against my VFM theory...
But know that my ride is RTR 180!

Bike here willing to be bought is 150cc, so A better one for him will be Apache Rtr 160 (never mind its displacement its 10cc higher), A bike which suits a person of Height 5'8.
Moreover its Powerful, Quite fuel efficient too & maintenance on the other hand too is Inexpensive.
If apache is not liked by him, Look out for Cbz X-treme. Im sure you are going to love its Raw power, Decent mileage & afterall its a Hero moto corp's motorcycle. Dhak dhak go.
Coming to other 150cc segment machine, Last in the list look for Fz-s/Fz16. Coming to Fz16, 2 things which a practical buyer needs to compromise - Mileage & Power. Remember Fz isnt as powerful as Cbz X-treme or Apache & Mileage too isnt never more than 41-43 kmph in city. But the poing where Fz wins is Styling, Its unmatched.
I would personally suggest you to go for Apache Rtr 160 or even 180. These bikes are really good & powerful.

Re: Need help on buying a bike

            Apache 160

Pros : Riding posture is forward based , i.e more sporty
The exhaust is pure melody ( Personal opinion)
            Lightweight and revvy engine
            Indicated FE : 50-55 kmpl

Cons : Due to TVS tyres the braking is lower than others

            Yamaha FZ/Fazer

Pros : It has superb mid end torque i.e zip zap cutting in traffic isn`t a problem
Seating posture is bit relaxed than Apache
            Looks (its the best )
            Indicated FE : 40-45kmpl

Cons : Mileage is a letdown for such a good bike
Pillion seat is bit high and small for long journey ( for pillion )

            Hero Xtreme/Hunk

            Pros : Relaxed seating posture
            Hero`s service network and quality
            Power and fuel economy
            Indicated FE : 50-55kmpl

            Cons : Weight ( 150kg)

            Pulsar 150

            Pros : Bajaj`s Technology (DTS-i , Exhaustec )
            Looks
            Service network and support
            Indicated FE : 55-60 kmpl

Cons : lower engine life than others ( one of my friend keeps wailing about it) , ofcourse maintenance decides the longevity of engine

            Honda Unicorn / Trigger

Trigger is new in market with newer features such as CBS and digi console , You might want to take a look in it . Rest assured its a Honda product .
