  • Confused: Need Serious help in deciding a bike among 200NS/FZ-S/FAZER/HUNK/GS150R

    Hello Experts,

Kindly help me in deciding a powerful bike with great handling, comfort and low maintenance. I will mostly ride in city & want to keep the bike for atleast 5 years.

    My Choices:-

    1) 200 NS - Gr8 VFM bike, i also liked its balancing but will it prove to be a hassle free bike for 5 years.
    2) FZ-S - Perfect bike for my needs with looks, power and handling but only concerns are pillion seat comfort and poor mileage.
    3) FAZER - Gr8 looks and lower fuel efficiency than FZS (Will it be a good bet over FZS ?)
    4) HUNK- i just love the looks of this muscular bike, only concern is a HERO product without HONDA.
    5) GS150R - A good package but heavy and old fashioned with poor network.

The above said comments about the bikes are my views. I know that my choices are widespread but please help me choose a bike among these according to my needs. Thanks in advance

Buy NS200 if you have the budget..
      or go for Fazer..
fazer has higher top-end speed compared to fz due t its faring..

well.. Firstly the NS200 should not be in this.. As it is a 200cc bike, while the rest are 150cc.. So go for the better option mate.. Get this one..

also hero is not 'dead' without honda.. Hunk is also a good bike and will give you a very comfortable saddle and also the aftersale services are really easy for hero products..
haven't ridden GS150, so can't comment on that..

if you want power, milege and long life.. I think bajaj has given you a very good product in the form of NS200.. The services of bajaj are well known..
NS200 wasn't there 2 years ago, else would have gone for it myself.

        1) P200 NS - Power, Handling, Style.
        2) FZ-S - Style, Reliable Yamaha, Build Quality, Power & handling less than P200 NS.
        3) FAZER - Company marketed it as a tourer, but with the kind of performance on offer, it is not. it is basically an FZ with slight modifications and a twin headlight half fairing (which in my opinion is just a cheaper alternative to those who like the looks of R15 but can't afford one)
        4) HUNK - an average 150 CC bike. nothing special.
        5) GS150R - again an average 150 CC bike with 6 gears, i guess.

i have not touched the comfort part in above comparison, so comfort wise (for both rider & pillion), in order of preference -

        GS150R/HUNK
        FAZER/FZ-S
        P200NS

Note (1) - Most ppl want a powerful bike with great handling, comfort and low maintenance, sadly such an ideal bike does not exists.

Note (2) - Kindly introduce yourself in relevant thread.

Note (3) - above are all my personal opinion.

Note (4) - powerful bike with great handling, seldom comes with low maintenance.

Note (5) - P200 NS is the most powerful and most technologically advanced bike with good handling, if you can comprise on comfort, go for P200 NS.

I would take a look at GS150R which is really good. Digital console, decent mileage, stylish looks, decent shock absorbers and much more. Since you mentioned you will keep the bike for 5yrs and riding within the city service points for maintenance should not be a major issue. Above all the price point is pretty decent mate.

However you might get some spark on a new bike as well. You never know ;-)

FZ-S/Fazer - you'll love the handling and torque once you ride it. But I felt the engine to be bit stressed on quick acceleration. The first generation FZ's had ridiculously low mileage for a 150cc. But the new FZ's have relatively better mileage, I heard. You may please check with your friends and probably in FZ ownership thread http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...fz-s-1788.html

Hunk - I own it, I bought it as a used bike and the previous owner seems to have abused it . The mileage will be around 45-50 in city. I felt it to be comfortable than or equal to FZ.
Smooth engine, relatively low maintenance costs, Hero service network, has all goodies. New Hunks have better braking with Bybre disc brakes.

                Hello Experts,

Thanks for your suggestions, I have finalised on P 200NS / FAZER / FZS. Kindly guide me on one according to my needs already explained above.

                @ Princesirohi,

As u said that for P200 NS one has to compromise on comfort, are the seating position or seats uncomfortable for a lone rider. I would mostly be riding alone in city.

Go for P200 even if it is slightly uncomfortable...it will compensate that with its superb performance

                      Mate,

Here is my advice as per my experience :

FZ-S - Best bike in the segment, blazes out of traffic, wider tyres means better braking strength. Reliabilty of Yamaha is a big plus.
HUNK- Though Honda is gone but not its engine. Its the same Honda engine, very reliable and economical. But the looks are conservative, typicaly Hondaish. Very reiable Hero network (Maruti of 2 wheelers).
GS150R - Suzuki's have not been able to establish themselves in India. So I would not recoommend you any product from them even though they are better.
200 NS - Jack of all trades, king of none. Great bike overall, nice sporty characters and very nimble in city traffic. Excellent packaging and latest technology. Seating is worst, Bajaj service is a gamble (atleast we have some good mechanics around) but spares availability is a boon !!!

My take would be 200 NS, best styling and best VFM.

Regarding maintainance, Sir Prince is 100% right, no maintainance would result in short bike life. I have invested more than the actual cost of bike in maintainance and in my running of approx 75,000 kms, the bond between me and my bike only goes strong. You should consider maintainance of complete bike, not just oil change.
