    10. Riding Comfort needs special attention

    Hi Friends
I need your help to decide which bike to choose, Currently I have Splendor for 4 years and no problem so ever, I want to buy another bike a bit more powerful for occasional trip to hills. Based on above requirements Please suggest the correct bike. I have some options in mind if possible please suggest one which best suits. I had almost made my mind on Hero Xtreme, then I looked at Honda Unicorn Dazzler and read in forums that it has better suspension now my mind is struck on TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS. Please suggest better option from these and please give reason for the choice( apart from power ).
One more query on sidelines : if I buy any one of these will it be possible to make trip to Leh with a pillion along with luggage ( I mean if select certain bike will it carry all this load: mine : 98 kg, Pillion rider: 70 KG plus some luggage and climb all the passes and bad roads ) Please suggest. If bike cannot take that much load We can ride solo on different bikes. I have one concern about Apache RTR 180 ABS that as rad in forums its stock tires are not good for grip if I have to change the tyres to CEAT or MRF what will be the extra cost I have to bear.

I want to get Leh'd next year.

Honda has stopped production of Dazzler it seems as they have launched CB Trigger.
This is what I read many places, also heard from a Honda sales rep.
So you can look for CB Trigger now, if you like the looks. There is not much difference between Dazzler and Trigger, Trigger has conventional chains with a closed chain case, fully digital console, LED tail lights, above all has Combined braking system as an option if you are ready to shell out some extra money.

XTreme is a nice bike with slightly better power compared to Trigger, but has conventional dual rear shock-absorber set-up. They will be on par with Trigger in terms of comfort if not better, but Trigger would win in handling department.

Apache 180 will give you better power and added advantage of ABS, but won't be as comfortable as above two due to its seating position and a bit more vibey engine.

Re: help required to select between Apache RTR 180 ABS, Unicorn Dazzler and Hero Xtre

          Hi,

I would recommend you RTR 180 mainly because of its ABS. Its comfortable in city rides and short highway runs. I doubt on long highway rides.

Doing Leh and similar terrains are not possible on city performance bikes, they are not build that way to comply such conditions, I doubt even Pulsar 200 NS can do that.

If these are your only choices, go for RTR as its the most capable among the three.

First you are at heavier side with good height. I don't think Dazzler/RTR / or Xtreme fits the bill. It won't be that comfortable INMO.
But NS200/ZMR/CBR 250 does. Due to money constraints CBR is out of equation.
So as per your hright and list of req NS200 and ZMR fits.

Go with NS200. As per your weight caculations I think RE or P220 or CBR 250 only fits here.
Do consider for CBR 250 if possible, by delaying your purchase.

If ride solo can Apache RTR 180 ABS make it. I am ok with a bit sporty ride position. as ABS makes me go for it. RE is out of question for me as the are out of budget and are not economical for daily usage. Leh is once in a while thing for me ( I am not hard core rider)

5'11" and 98 KG??? well, RTR might feel cramped. Test ride first, then decide. I always say, RTR is best suited for riders < = 5'10".
Now coming to Leh trip, I wont recommend taking a pillion on our puny Indian bikes(even considering CBR 250 and Ninja). Pillion would stress the engine, and tire the rider. All the above bikes have done Leh quite comfortably.
Yes, RTR has the advantage of high power and better top end, but I would still say, check if you are comfortable with its compact dimensions and sporty riding position.

If going for a trip to leh I would choose the dazzler over the apache. First and foremost is upright seating would be always more comfortable compared to apaches, then the seat is broad and there is more space to move freely making this a second advantage for a long ride, the monoshock on the dazzler would give you a plusher ride and last but not the least, the apache is too vibey and would tire you out quicker, the dazzler on the other hand is as smooth as it gets.

I for one would choose dazzler if long rides is what I want to do. I left out the xtreme because I am not a fan of the way it looks, otherwise its an equally good machine.

hai friend, please dont consider dazzler, its no more available in showrooms and its beed replaced with trigger, i took a test ride and its butter smooth engine but lacks power for your requirments , hero xtreme is awesome but again i dont think it can take you to leh with 2 people and luggage.... and as all others have suggested in this thread about apache i too feel the same, its a sporty bike so you may not be comfortable long distance, i had a 160 apache for 5 years... compared to the other 2 bikes apache has vibration too which may be bothersome in long distance, if u change the tyres it may cost you around 3000 for back and another 2000 front.. so u speant 5k for tyre upgrade.. for your requerments i suggest you please consider karizma zmr, pulsar 200ns ... and the best would be avenger 220..its a old bike but most comfortable and you can take it just anywhere with any kinds of load...

                              Hey!
Your Budget is 95K. Why are'nt you considering Pulsar 200NS, KARIZMA R? Maybe stretch a bit and get KARIZMA ZMR?

All these are more powerful and will certainly help in climbing up those hikly roads.....

                              In your list,
DAZZLER →Replaced /to be replaced by Trigger.
Hero Xtreme →Not sufficient power for your req. & weight.
RTR 180 ABS → Better & safer than other two. still will look Small when you sit on it.

Think about Pulsar 200NS, Karizma R, ZMR.
