      Proud Owner Of The BULL.... ROYAL ENFIELD Classic 350...!!

      Hi All,

      @
      The Monk.

      @sparky

      @Rakesh Rok

      @gyan_recl350

      @Vykier

      @somen1984

      @petrolhead_chn

      @rohithraghav

      First of all a big SORRY for the late reply...!!

      I got the BULL delivered on 5th Feb 2014, Wednesday..

      The delivery process took almost 6 Hours.. I got a call from the showroom to reach there by 1pm and the process started for me around 2pm.
      All the checks and PDI was done. Finally the Payment time.
      After all this stuff, i again have to wait for another 2 hours for the insurance, bill, and TR.
      Mirrors were not available and there was no owners manual.
      He asked me to come the next day, as the mirrors and manual are there in the workshop.
      1 lit of petrol was provided by the showroom..

      Finally at around 7pm i started my BULL..!! Dugg.. Duggg.. Duggggg...!!!
      What a fell, that was.... Awesome....!!!
      At that moment, i forgot about the 6 long hours of waiting..

      Took the bike very slowly and carefully to my flat. Puja was not done, as after evening we temples don't perform puja.
      1st day of my BULL at Parking place. This is the 1st Bull in my appartment.
      In between all the bikes my BULL was the DOMINATING one....!!!

      Day 2:
      Wake up early in the morning, took bath and came down to see my BULL..
      A thin layer of dust was there on the top , but still it can't cover the shiny face of my BULL..
      Took a new chamois cloth and cleaned all the dust from my BULL..

      Here comes the painful thing... KICK START....!!!
      It almost took 10 Kicks to start the BULL.. My legs were paining..!!
      But again the same thing happened with me... I forgot everything once i heard the engine sound..

      Now i move towards the Hanuman temple, did all the puja and tilak of my BULL was done..
      Now the next stop was at a Sweet Stall as i'll be going to my office..

      The best thing happened to me on that day was the attention and the reaction of colleauges..
      They just said Wowww.... ROYAL ENFIELD...!!! BULLET...!!! Wowwwww.....!!
      My complete team a group of 20 went to have a look of my BULL.. And again the same reaction Wowwww.....!!
      They took pics with my BULL, i was really feeling happy.. Seriously here i am unable to express my happiness..

      Day 2(Evening): Problem.. While returning from the office, today i have to go to the workshop to collect my Owners Manual, and the mirrors.
      But during the ride, i can fell the tuning of the BULL is too high, when i stopped at a Traffic Signal..
      My BULL was roaring like anything, Still in the Neutral..

      I said the same problem to the Mechanic in the workshop, and the problem was solved..
      He asked me to drive below 40km/hr Speed, till 500kms i.e. the first Service.

      Today i have completed 1 Week with my BULL. No problem So far , But have few questions for you experts:

      Questions:

      1) While driving below 40km/hr its really very difficult to switch to 4th gear also. Any Suggestion..??

      I am driving with 2nd and 3rd gear only, whenever i switch to 4th gear speed reaches almost 50km/hr.. What to do..??

      2) Is it good to use the Choke for the Morining Start (Kick)..??

      3) Handel is bit jammed.. I can feel that while turning.. Is it with all new BULLs...??

      4) What is the Oil Tank Reserve Capacity..??

      5) More Questions Coming Soon.......!!!

      Expecting the reply of you all EXPERTS...!!

      Thank You...!!!

        Anyways now to your questions, I ain't a pro in Bullet as I just ride my cousin's rarely, so let me just put my points here, others can correct it if am wrong here. . .

        1. My bro said that it's not 40 kph for the first 500 kms, it's 55 kph that was said to him by the SVC, so increase your speed a bit more and don't ever go above the 55/60 kph mark until first service, just to be on the safer side. . . Never ride only in those gears at first, please increase the gear and also learn to ride at medium speeds with less throttle and don't go as much so that the bike starts to choke. . . Ride in all gears, . . In short, good speed with little throttle and not making the bike feel like it's choking. . .
        2. If you have very cold climate and you are facing problem then definitely YES, that's what it is there for . . .
        3. Initially yes that's the case with all bullets, but you will get used to it, you can't expect the freeness you get while turning our bikes. . .
        4. 2.25 liters for the engine. 420ml for the clutch and fuel capacity is 14.5 L, guess these are mentioned in the owner's manual. . Again correction required here, if am wrong. . .
        5. Yup keep 'em coming. . .

        PS: Please make sure you mention our names proper way and that you type our names in normal regular font, cos I didn't receive a notification now. . .

        Lastly, come on MANN, share us the pics at least if not the sweets here, put some pics with your next comment . . .

        Cheers!!!

          Congrats once again Shaswat and we are eagerly waiting for the pics . Now my 2 cents before answering your questions:

          First, please use only electric start for the cold starts and do not use kick start (though it appear macho ). Now when kick starting use the following procedure:

          If using kick start on cold starts:

          1.Depress the clutch completely and give 1-2 gentle full kicks. You would observe, even if the clutch is disengaged completely still the kick would offer some resistance which means the clutch is completely not disengaged even in neutral (on cold starts). So, depressing the clutch and giving 1-2 gentle kick disengages it completely

          2. Now everything off (ignition, petrol knob) give another 2-3 gentle kicks. This is to circulate some engine oil and make sure the mating parts of the engine are all well lubricated. Well if you don't follow this step still your bike would pretty much start easily but following this simple procedure would ensure a better and longer engine life.

          3. Now turn on the ignition and petrol and give a full kick. Bring back the kick to some 30-40 degrees above the silencer (like till the end of the air filter box) and give a good full kick and the Bull should kick into life. If it still doesn't start then repeat the same procedure.

          If using kick start on non cold starts: Follow just step number 3 from above.

          Well I would strongly suggest get your carburetor tuned from a good mechanic as you never know how it has been set (like you said your idling was way too high and you could feel engine racing a lot even in neutral) and you might be running very lean or very rich till your first service.
          Point is you should be running at correct carburetor setting so as to avoid any issues which might arise because of it, like starting (especially kick starting) can be really pain if the A/F mixture is too lean.

          Also till first service you can safely run your bull till 55 kmph, no harm. Just make sure you keep varying speed in that range and do not remain on the same speed and gear for long time. Also expose to speeds gradually, like till today you have been running only till lets say 25 kmph then don't suddenly expose to 60. Make it gradual.

          Now below is my answer to your questions:

          1. In Classic you would definitely find difficult to switch to 4th below 40 especially in new bike. All normal.
          2. Only if the temperature is below some degrees (check the manual for exact number) OR finding it really difficult to start without it.
          3. No it is not with all Bulls, may be it is too tight. Get it checked
          4. 1.5 liters is the reserve. Anyways check the manual

          5. Pour in the questions

And what you have mentioned is also very ture. Really getting confussed...!! The mechanic in the Royal Enfield Workshop told me that, if i use the self start in the morning then it will damage the engine because the oil will be settled at the bottom of the engine and the sudden start of engine can damage it. So kick is always preferred. And today morning i got the BULL started in only one kick.. Will it affect the BULL engine..?? So tell me dude.. What to do...??

              Anyways chuck it bro, the bike's a real beauty, looks good with this color. . .

              BTW I forgot that as said by @gyan above, the second one wherein you got to switch off and then give some two to three good kicks and then switch on and then with one kick, the vehicle will start without a hitch. . . Had done this with my previous, scooty pep , sometimes it used to give me trouble, I used to just switch off and kick two to three kicks and then wait a sec and in one kick, the vehicle used to start, . . I used to do this whenever I had rode it until the petrol was full empty and filled the petrol to an empty tank . . .
              @gyan_recl350 about the answers you made, ain't the bullets a bit stiffer while turning unlike our normal commuter bikes. . ? and I think the fourth question, he asked about oil capacity and not the fuel tank I guess and not to forget, how many kph speed should be maintained before first service. . ? My cousin stated that he was advised 55kph max and not to ride beyond it. . .

              Cheers!!!

                The bull looks gorgeous as always

                Whatever mechanic is saying is not illogical and whatever I am saying is correct too. Well if you read my reply again you would see in point #2 I have clearly mentioned how to lubricate the engine before using ES so following it would take care of the issue which mechanic has pointed out. Hence specifically I had written step by step procedure for both cold and non cold starts.

                Now using ES during cold engine would make sure life of your bike's sprag cluth is more apart from the other reasons behind it, to say the least.

                I hope I am clear now and you have any query do ask.

                  Buddy he did ask.about petrol reserve. See below

                  4)[/B] What is the Oil Tank Reserve Capacity..??

                  And about speeds I did mention him that 55 is safe till first service. Btw Bull being heavy is indeed stifer than other bikes on turns but if handle is too tight then offcourse one can have issues beyond that.

                    Don't you think that, using ES all the time can drain the battery a lot.. And by this the battery life will decrese..

                    I had one more query, i think u missed that..

                    Today in the morning, i didn't did any thing to warm the engine or any thing you have mentioned in the points for cold start..
                    I went for the kick start, and the BULL started.. In the very 1st kick the BULL started.. Is is good or bad..?? By this do the engine getting affected..??
                    Earlier it took atleast 3-4 Kicks for me to start in the morning.. But today it started in only 1 kick..

                    One more query...

                    What are the drawbacks of kick start.. Can you please explain in detail..
                    Its just my curiosity to know in detail....!!

                        @saswat I would recommend use your kicks only to start in morning.
                        RE is famous with some of it's niggles. So it's better not to welcome troubles for your Batteries at least.
                        Cause you rarely get any better mech for any vehicle.

                        I own now a TRIGGER after using R15, i start my bike with Choke on and Self start any morning. After 2-3 min I close the choke.
                        When i was in GOA last Nov it was good cold there as well, I use to use Choke + 2 -3 half kick +Self start.
                        I use to start in one Self Start. it was an Electra. But still as your bike is new So use kicks to start in morning, later on once you know about your bikes' pros and cons then you can make several ways to your any query!

                          I must say not so wise suggestion. When cold starting use ES. I have been doing that since last 15 months and my battery is absolutely doing great, no issues at all. Starts in first push of the button.

                          Always Kick starting in the morning can definitely invite trouble at sprag clutch and actually initial lot of UCEs did face this issue. Even in the manual it is mentioned to use ES in the morning, off-course not for nothing.

                          Cheers!

                            I dint face any issue... From past so many years... Using non self bike.
                            I give 2-3 half kick which helps
                            In lubrication inside as well but donit for RE alone, for other bike straight
                            Choke n ES.

                            Its better to use kick start in morning as said by many riders user and mech as well, but i feel when there is a ES then why kick it?
                            Still depends on individuals

                            Love and Life both are one and the same..... think !

                              Buddy when there is ES there is this sprag clutch and when there is this sprag clucth using kick can put load on it and might damage it over the period of time. So it is advised to use ES in cold starts before cranking the engine 3-4 times with everything switched off so that the lubrication thing is take care off.
