    pls help me out.......

I have recently passed college and i want to buy a bike in the range of 90,000 to 1.5 lac max OTR. The bike would mainly be used for daily commute but i also want to take it to long rides on weekends.

I have selected a few bikes in this range which are:-
    1. Honda CBR 150R
    2. Yamaha R-15 v2
    3. KTM Duke 200
    4. Pulsar 200 NS
    5. Hero Karizma ZMR

I currently have a 2011 Hero Passion Pro.

I personally like the cbr 150r but having done some googling, I found out that it has low quality switch gear and the torque is low. Yamaha r-15 v2 I feel is a bit of more sporty and it cannot be taken on long rides. About P 200NS I found that its tyres are of a hard compound and it skiddes on wet roads easily.
So i need to find which would be the perfect ride for me.

How long will your weekend rides be?

And since you want a bike for city slicking, Go in for the Duke 200 with your eyes closed. And if you decide to save some money, go for the 200 NS.

The CBR150 and the R15 will make your life hell in the city.

And the ZMR makes no sense unless you eat drink and sleep and live on the Highway.

        For your needs
        Duke>200NS>>>>ZMR>>>>(R15=CBR150)

My weekend rides would be 100-200 kms.
About Duke 200, I heard somewhere that its not good in pillion comfort.

But anyway thanks for your opinion.

Pillion comfort's an whole new ball game altogether.

The Duke isn't too bad. But its one of the criteria, go for 200NS or ZMR.

If the pillion is going to be your girlfriend then you can go for the duke or 200ns, its comfortable enough but low on room. So, with a girlfriend who needs a lot of space.
Otherwise if you want pillion comfort and seating space go for zmr but know that the duke and 200ns do almost everything better than zmr, better brakes, better power, acceleration, top speed, handling, fun etc.

The zmr would give you better mileage, more relaxed ride as low end torque is good and also comfortable (for both rider and pillion).
Now yours is the final call.

ZMR is total VFM in your price bracket. Its the most comfortable and oldest bike of your choice.

Pillion comfort is worst in rest of the bikes, Pulsar 200 NS and Duke showcase latest technology.

Practically speaking, Pulsar 200 NS & R15 should be best choice and most suited for you. R15 is awesome tourer but as said worst city behavior. Pulsar 200 NS will suit both on highways and city efficiently. Tyres can be changed anytime. Skidding is the very reason I am always avoiding touring in rainy season. Post monsoon is the best season for me.

You can not get all things in one machine under right price...

If it was just the cities in mind, Duke200 or P200 would have taken it all away.

Now since touring comes into the scene and also pillion comfort is there, Duke200 is not what you are looking at.

                  I will suggest Karizma ZMR.

                  Why?

                  Reasons:

                  1. Among the list, its the most comfortable bike you can buy. Mind it, CBR150R has a sportier stance when compared to CBR250R, its not as optimized for touring as its elder brother. Also, lesser torque will keep you back.

                  2. It has a relaxed engine which is definitely made for touring at higher speeds without killing the engine.

                  3. It will not be a bummer in city too. I mean I have CBR250R and I can steer in the traffic pretty comfortably. Yes it will not be as flickable as Duke200 in traffic, but thats not the only thing you want.

As you said about R15, it has a hell bent sports posture.... not for touring.

If you still wanna skip ZMR, go with P200 and maybe get the tyres replaced during delivery. P200 is better than Duke200 for touring with a pillion, but note this that both are not cut for touring.

Before someone gives you an idea about Enfields, DO NOT!

with riders giving their best replies forward.. i would like to add one more to the list.. why not test FZ..?
its a good bike city wise and also not bad on the highways..
also with the newer bikes, the rear seat is wider and would be much comfortable than before..
and it would cost you around 80k..

                    Ride safe and have fun.

                      Hi shrey,

I must say that when I was looking for buying a bike, I had almost the same expectations as yours. I wanted a bike that is an all-rounder. It had to be good on power, comfortable in long rides and comfortable for pillion. Mileage was not a big concern for me. After several test rides, opinions, suggestions.. i finally settled down for a P220. It's been 6 months, and the midnight black beast has never given me a chance to complain.

I understand that most of the bikes you've listed are fresher and use modern advanced technologies, maybe that's why the P220 hasn't made it to your list. But, worst case, if you finally decide to get a ZMR, don't go for it. Get a 220 instead and you'll be a happier man.

                      Hope it helps.

                      Regards,
                      Munmay

If you seriously seek pillion comfort, then it should be the ZMR. Please note that 200ns pillion seat, although wide, is very uncomfortable (for me atleast). Rear seat height is also comparatively very high and the cushioning is also really firm. But the rider's seat is a soft one. My brother has got a ns and i hate it as a pillion..(but love it as a rider. So if pillion comfort is your prime concern, then r15 v2,(don't know about duke and cbr) and ns would not be a wise choice for you.
These are just my observations and anyone is welcome for correction if I'm wrong.

                        Cheers..

I like the duke 200 as a good street bike with very good styling and engine power. But its a 200cc engine which has low mileage and it requires high octane fuel which is a bit more costly than the already high fuel prices.
But i would go & take a test ride of it for my final decision.

Yes i agree with you that fz is a good bike, with a very reliable engine from Yamaha. Even my brother has an fz16 for the past 5 years and the machine has never disappointed him and i have also riden his bike many times.

But i think that when i can afford a bigger bike like Duke 200 or Cbr 150 or r15 why not go for them.

High octane fuel is not required.. Riders are using normal fuel in D390 also wothout any problem.. So this is not a worry..

since you are willing to shed till 1.5L, try and get some more and get cbr250.. It would truly be an upgrade for you.. Just my opinion..
