hey riders please help me choose a bike..........
i'm not looking for mileage and budget is not a problem
i'm looking for a bike with performance and looks...

Initially, i liked the YAMAHA YZF R15... and was planning to take one......
but then one of my friends told me that the bike was good for posers and that the bike was actually a crap... and the bike can't even match with the p200
he told me that the bike's engine is not powerful enough and u shouldn't pay 1lakh for just the looks of the bike....
I came to know from the web that the TVS guys are coming up with a 180cc Menace....
i know that the rtr is an outright performer.... so i think the new menace would also be worth waiting for...

and also the new fuel injected p200.... don't know much details on that too... i guess even that would be a good option

so what do you guys say????

I say "pls go & check the R15 ownership thread"

Menace is some time away and P200 Fi too is not announced.

Take all these bikes onto an open road&you'll know clearly who the winner is. Check the shootouts on Bike India etc.also.

When it comes to outright performance, there isnt much to choose between the R15, Karizma and the Pulsar 220. It will eventually boil down to the rider.
On the track, or twisties, the R15 will outshine the others, but for daily commuting, the others will have an edge.
The new TVS 180 is still months away. Why dont u find a good second hand deal on a R15 / Pulsar 220 or the Karizma?
Yes, the FI P200 is just around the corner

PS: why not wait till May 2009 and get the Ninja 250R? A sub 6 second 0-100km/h dash with a top end of 150+ sounds tempting

i am seriously checking the r15 thread, hydbiker........ but then going through all the posts seem difficult buddy...

i think the shootouts give a bit biased result as the 220 & zma are powerful in drags...

BTW thanks for theinfo skipper, but i'm not hardcore enough to go for the baby ninja... i don't like the looks of p220 and its a bit too bulky for me & the zma is a bit outdated

do anyone know if the yamaha guys are planning for any upgrades or even new launches????

no upgrades. new launches will currently be in the commuter segment. the fz / r15 are doing quite good, so now they want to concentrate on the commuter segment for a while for playing some good numbers / revenue

                    PLease ...

Posting here can't get you a bike, perhaps there are many things that we need to know.. Then one can suggest you what bike..??
you just told That mileage and budget ..
taking as an example if you are Giant like Suhail and sitting on an R-1-5,perhaps you'll be a fool,in that case Karizma would suit..
However if you are like aseem, then R-1-5 seems to be like an R-1.. Superb!!

if like me.. perhaps buy a discover,or if planning something high,200...

heard that the alloys of r15 are not upto the mark.... is it true???

are there any other problems of r15 ????

                            ^^^

                            I don't think technically R15 is 2nd to anyone.
                            It has got:
                            - really good engine
                            - really good handling
                            - good looks
                            - relatively ok mileage

But I had read somewhere about the paint quality of alloy rims(it's same for FZ too) and some rusting problem. So checkout ownership thread for R15. For me, I just feel it overpriced. Had it been @85-90k(OTR instead of 110k), I would have bought it long back.
