• Bike for new biker.

Hello Xbhpians,

This is Eesh from Bangalore. I am pretty new for riding even though learned to ride few years back. But, now time has come to buy one. As I am very new for biking bit confused in selecting the right bike.

I am lean guy (5' 7'', 61Kg), my budget up to 1 lac. Mileage requirement is not less than 35kmpl. Monthly mile crunch will not be more than 500Kms, other than occasional long rides.

Based on input from some of from friends and from internet I finalized below list.

1. Pulsar 200ns: Looks wise I like very much, when I see ownership thread felt lot of issues with bike.

2. Yamaha Fz: Had a chance to ride my friend's Fz. It is really good! happy riding! I felt riding is as easier as Activa. But nowadays it is very common in roads..

3. Honda Trigger: I don't know anything about this bike other than specifications on website.

Please suggest me! Thanks!

Why don't you wait for the upcoming P200 SS.. if you can't wait then the P200 NS is the best for that cost.. go for it eyes closed..

Always go for the most powerful bike in your budget if mileage is not a concern. 'nuff said!

rreneav1987: already I have regret that I didn't thought about bike atleast a year . P200SS good but I guess price will be atleast 10-15K more?? I already stretched my budget, as per one of my friend P200ns in bangalore costs almost 1.8 lac on-road after recent price hike (89K ex.showroom in bangalore).

Correction. Not 1.8L OTR, but 1.08L OTR.

I think you meant 1.08 Lacs.. by the way.. in those 20,000/- you will hopefully be getting more features.. going by the pics moving around.. it looks like the P200SS is going to sport ABS.. Projector Lamps.. and a full faired machine..

I mean.. If I were you, I would definitely give it a thought.. again.. its upto you if you can't wait.. then better go for the P200 NS.. did you think about the RTR 180 ABS?? it is a wonderful package as well.. except there will be little vibrations here and there.. but again.. thats there in all the bikes in the market..

@Divya Sharan: Thanks buddy! it is a typo, yes 1.08L

@rreneav1987: yes it is a typo it should be 1.08L. Still I guess P200SS will only P200NS + fairing, because by adding ABS and project lamp, fairing etc they may exceed the Duke's price tag? I am just guessing.. What I thought was if it is naked bike maneuvering will easy for new bee .

Never thought of Apaches. Is that hassle free machine? How much costs in Bangalore (with/without ABS)?

Mate why don't you think about the RTR 180 ABS as Reneav said. . ? It's a beautiful machine except if you ignore the vibs. . . Also try to get the tires changed to a stickier rubber and the bike's a beauty. . . I love riding my cousin's RTR now and often I get it for a day to ride it . . . Also considering that you are in Bangalore and also your height and weight, it seems a good option, it handles beautifully in the city, highways initially might be a pain but once you get hang of it, there's nothing stop you both. . . Think about it, . . 200NS is also a good option but for your height and also mine (being 5'8") we can't plant our foot completely, it's a trouble there. . . Have a test ride of both and do let us know. . .

Cheers!!!

Exceed the Price Tag of D200?? bro.. the P200 SS will be advantageous over the D200 because of the ABS.. more safer to ride a bike with ABS than a bike without ABS..
Once you get used to a faired bike (say in a week or 2) you will find it too easy to ride in traffic.. but you have to be safe.. even it is a naked bike..

now coming to the RTR180.. it is one of the best bikes in India.. though the engine is pretty old.. it has proved itself.. except for the vibs here and there.. the bike is hastle free.. I mean.. just give it a thought.. take it for a test ride.. and make sure you test both the ABS version and the non ABS version to find the difference.. am sure you will like it.. and it will be more easy to ride the RTR in traffic than the P200 NS as it is a little shorter

Even I was a beginner when I bought the zmr. Bulky with a fairing.
So being a newbie must not effect the bike you buy. You'll get adjusted to it within a week or two. Wait for the next pulsar. Else go for the NS.

5'8 trouble. .? My 5'2 brother rides my ns in DELHI TRAFFIC ( baap of all India traffic) and I haven't seen him struggling or getting scared once
And seriously don't go for tvs rtr, before buying ns, I spent 4 hours in a tvs showroom, bajaj May not be comparable to Hondas or Suzukis but tvs IMHO is way out of line ,my first bike I was thinking about was rtr 180(abs took me there) ,but after 30 min ride of a brand new rtr 180 up to speeds of 120kmph, I immediately shifted my mind to pulsar 180( and later ns)
If your budget implies, buy r15(best for your height) or buy ns, even go for karizma, but don't go for tvs mate, you will regret later

Dude what I feel, that's what I said. . . Everyone ain't a genius like you. . . About RTR180, I snatch my cousin RTR's keys when I feel like riding it, it's soooooo good to ride, even though his isn't a ABS and his tires are the same old, I just love riding it, it's one awesome machine. . . May be you didn't ride it properly to feel it's power. . . Top end performance isn't the only thing needed for a bike, sometimes it's how quick matters not how fast cos you can't keep touching 130, 140kph every time everywhere, sometimes how quick it behaves is more important and in that matters after riding both RTR180 as well as 200NS, I found the RTR to be lighter in handling department and we can change directions better with that compared to that of 200NS at slow speeds. . . RTR has a heart of a true racing machine and that's what makes it stand for it, quick throttle response, stupendous brakes and excellent handling, that's what describes it. . . Pulsar 200NS offers more than that but at the end of the day as I said my opinion and not an order. . .

Ride the Beast and Tame the Beast, you'll know what it is. . .

PS: If RTR was so outdated, then they wouldn't be using it for racing till today. . .
