How about thinking about the all new karizma ZMR. . ? It seems to be very comfortable. . .

Else in your budget, you can try for a CBR which is also very comfortable bike, Bullets on the other hand are as always well known for their comfortableness, but bumper to bumper traffic it sure is a bit problem, you just got to adjust it. . . Duke ain't that comfortable for short distances like these you can adjust but please go through ownership thread of Duke 390 before you decide as there seems to be problem with it. . .

Thanks Rakesh for your reply.. In past I owned Splendor, Ambition from Hero.. Currently I own Pulsar180.. so now I want to try a international brand.

I suggest you take a TR of the above mentioned bikes first and then decide.
Or else go for the CBR. It fits both of your requirements

Get a duke 200 eyes closed, your commuting will be plasted with a wide grin on your face

. Its a blast to ride inside city and mileage is excellent for the power it offers.
Duke 390 is good too but mileage is lower for city commuting, gears are very tall and also the suspensions and seat is harder compared to a 200.
Duke 200 for city commuting makes more sense

I own a Duke 200. Live in Pune. And commute 27 kms to Hinjewadi daily too. So I guess we both are the same on requirements. I am satisfied with the Duke except for the problems it gives in the rains. Road conditions of Hinjewadi will give a hard time to your duke in the rains. I have experienced this! Also you may/may not find the hard seat uncomfortable. For me it is ok now, but sometimes i wish it had a softer seat.

However, the duke will make your everyday commute a joyride!

If you want more comfort then the CBR fits in the budget.

Take a test ride of both these bikes. you will have your answer

I too live in Pune and commute to Hinjewadi via the Mumbai - Pune - Banglore highway. I used to own Karimza, then the Classic 500 and got a Duke 390 recently.
The bullet is definitely comfortable but maintenance is an issue. That is what made me sell it.
I would suggest Duke 200 as it can be ripped on the highway and is easier to drive at slower speeds in hinjewadi traffic than the 390. However the upgrade you get in 390 for just 50K more is too hard to ignore

The seat is a bit hard but for 50km it is no problem.
If you are willing to wait, you can check out the Pulsars which will be launched soon.

I would not recommend R15 - the seating is not upright as the duke and I dont find it comfortable for daily commuting especially in traffic.
Also do test ride the Karizma. If you are more sedate rider, it is a good choice.

Hey Avinash, I am from Pune as well and I used to commute around 60 odd kilometres at times from Viman nagar to Hinjewadi and back. I own a Karizma ZMR and find it very comfortable - both in the city and highways. Now that your budget is between Rs 1.5L to 2L, I too would give my vote to CBR250R as that bike has got ample power to cruise on highways, very nimble to ride in the city and gives a decent fuel economy as well. Being a Honda, you would also have a peace of mind when it comes to maintenance when comapred to other bikes in the same budget bracket.

If time is not an issue, I would suggest you to wait for Hero to launch HX250 to check how it fares with the competition.

I ride a duke 200 daily to my college in akurdi 26kms from my home in viman nagar . The seats are not comfortable as everyone says but they aren't that bad either for these kind of distances. If you can wait then do check out the ktm rc's .
390 is amazing for its shear power but it's a pain in the traffic. One sure gets tandoori legs in traffic.
I would advice you to take test rides of all the bikes in your mind and only then decide.
For comfort you can also try out the thunderbird 500 apart from the cbr 250 .

I use tb350 daily and travel close to 45mms daily in heavy traffic- Aundh to Kharadi. Have absolutely no issues in bumper to bumper traffic. Its quite nimble surprisingly in the traffic and most comfortable on straight roads as well. Get an average of 45 in city conditions. But yes, it demands a bit of love every alternate weekend or so. If you insist on international brand, cbr and ktm200 makes more sense. Well you should be happy that you have good options to choose from. Hope you will reach decision soon.

Hi, i am kuldeep from ludhiana and i have purchased pulsar 200ns.i would like to say that in u r budget upto 2lakh there are plenty of options in the market.pulsar 200ns,ktm duke 200,390,cbr250,karizma zmr.

karizma zmr old(short on power but no.1 in comfort if u r not interesred in top speed best cruiser bike in india till date under 225cc category gives mileage of 40-45under speed 60kmph.top speed 128 kmph.very comfortable and smooth).

Pulsar 200ns is best all rounder under 1 lakh.excellent power and pickup,great handling,great light and ktm engine except the combustion area this is the reason i opt for it but strong windblast after 100kmph speed.mileage 40-45kmph speed.stress free engine and very less noise from the exhaust and smooth engine.top speed 136 but lighter person even get 140 kmph speed actualspeed not speedo mention.

Honda cbr 250r is excellent bike with good fuel economy top speed 150kmph and mileage 35 in highway.smooth engine.good comfort after karizma.

Duke 200 excellent power and performance but not good for the highway after 100kmph speed same as pulsar due to heavy wind blast u can solve this issue by installing a windscreen.same as duke 390 but 390 gives u twice performance than the 5 lakh bike is capable off. top speed 170 kmph.0-100comes in 5.5 seconds.

There are 4-5 bikes coming within the 5-6 months period.
1.pulsar 200ss.fully faired.around 1.3lakh.
2.karizma with 20bhp.
3.karizma r.
4.hyosung gd250n around 1.5 lakh.
5.kawasaku z250.

Most important that u shoud test ride every bike before purchase.
