Re: Apache 180 or Pulsar 200ns or Pulsar 220

Thank you guys for your advice.
The Pulsar 200ns seems the general consensus but i like rtr a little more.
I will test ride both and and hopefully I will make a right decision as I have enough time to think (will be buying after 2 months)

Apache 180 or Pulsar 200ns or Pulsar 220
      • It will be my first bike, I will be riding mostly in city sometimes on highways.
      • Mileage not an issue.
      • Not very keen to get a fared bike.
      • My height is 5'10

Also some tips on convincing parents to get a bike
I always get the usual reply " Four Wheeler hai na toh bike kyun chahiye " and a big lecture on how dangerous bikes are
If you ask me, it will be A180 ABS simply because of ABS.And also if you get ABS, it will be easier for you to convince your parents since you choose safety.

Re: Apache 180 or Pulsar 200ns or Pulsar 220

Hey guys, I too am in a similar dilemma. I am an engineering student currently in his 3rd year. I was looking to purchase my first bike for my daily commute. I am a novice in the riding world having ridden for only 4 years. Hijacking this thread as my query is also quite similar.

-The bike will be used for about 35Km commute daily. 70:30 highway to city. Occasional joy rides. Do not see myself touring, offroading, track riding in the near future.
-I would like it to be something that keeps me entertained and hopefully flame my passing for motorcycling.
-It should facilitate me in learning the fine nuances of motorcycle riding. I am willing to trade smoothness, outright top speed, comfort to some extent for something that is good for learning how to corner, has good control weights etc. eg. in car terms will choose a punto over say i20.
-Servicing and general A.S.S should be a smooth affair.
-The F.E should not vary much. Anything around 40 in all sorts of riding conditions is desirable.
        -I am 172 cm(5.7 i think) and weigh 68kg.
        -Avoid buying second-hand bike.
-Ooh and i hate taking a pillion along
        -budget 90k.

Having looked around I have narrowed the choice to apache 180, 180abs , 200ns. Also confused seeing the yet to be launched 180/150ns, new fz(will it have higher bhp?), gixxer. Any other bike worth looking into?

-Will i be able to handle the ns w.r.t to its seat height? Guys with similar height please comment. Of course i will be testing the same.
-will the ns deliver consistent 40kmpl?
        - Is the rtr still the darling of the track guys along with r15? Or has the game moved on wrt haddling, suspension etc?
-at about the same price, is the abs of rtr able to offset the modern tech difference between it and the ns?
-will a Goan service center be able to handle the abs module?
-Is it worth waiting for the recently spied bikes according to my needs?

For a Punto over i20 feeling, I'm sad to say we don't have tracks (in abundance) in India (there are only 3). So, you can't test the engine/bike without worrying.

For your budget, NS all the way. But keep one thing in mind. NS has a very optimistic speedo, people start getting 150+ kmph top end, hence keep a check on that wrist.
Also ensure that none of your "joyrides" are unsafe for anyone on the road, including you!

            Thanks for the reply.

By joy rides i mean a ride besides my daily commute. Wont be creating any nuisance.

No I am not interested in redlining the engine or scrapping my knees at every corner. What I mean by that example is I want something that is more enthusiast oriented. Like i find 135ls to be more fun than gs150r, though the latter is faster, more powerful and comfortable, if you know what i mean.

Get a Pulsar 200NS or a used, but well maintained D200 within 90k-1.1L range.

Hey' I had the same problem with my parents telling 2 wheelers are forbidden to ride.! I was like aaah. Then came up with a good idea , as I loved the RTR i decided to convince parents by showing the videos and written reviews about the A.B.S Version and i told this is the only bike in tens os hundreds to have such a safety feature(under 1.lakh) they are now in circles and have stopped saying the word NO which brings great relief.Pulsar has a common name in our area as street racing wala bike.!(sorry pulsar owners my villagers are crazy) Also convine them by saying it has speed recorder so that papa can relieve on seeing you not crossing the limit(IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO

nope. Duke 200 is faster. It has 25 bhp against NS's 23.5 and Duke is lighter in weight too. In Kolkata Duke costs 1.4 lakh almost.
