  • Query whether Karizma is suitable for me

Friends, I plan to take a bike..I booked Hunk already but due to its long delay I am still not yet finished deciding which bike to rely on..

    My requirements are as follows

I daily ride my bike for around 70Kms and I am 27 years of age.
I was riding splendor for the past 7 years and now felt like its time for me to change my bike
Price of the bike I can afford upto 1 lakh or so.
I went for Hunk seeing its looks and being an 150cc engine mileage and so on.

Now my friends have told me that Karizma gives a mileage upto 45-47 on Highways. As a person who was riding Hero bike for the past 7 years , a Karizma bike is his dream and ultimate. So I chased my dream to Karizma and went upto a nearby showroom but when I sat on Karizma 2014 model I found that I had to lean on the handle bars. I didn't feel that much comfortable. I am a short guy around 158cms height. I wonder whether is it because of my height I had to lean on to the handlebars or whether its due to the sporty riding position as some motorsports enthusiasts say? I have heard that Karizma is comfortable for long rides. SO is Karizma a good option for me if I go for it? Friends please help me regarding this leaning and riding( sporty riding position ) rather than upright riding position.

    Approved!

Karizma is indeed comfortable, but the newer models (2014 models with vertically stacked head lamps) have shorter (in height) handlebars thus lending the bike a sportier stance. The pre 2014 models had commuter-ish stance. This and your height made you feel it not comfortable.

Advice - look for other bikes as well since 70 kms daily on a Karizma may not be enjoyed for long. Mileage of 45+ on highways is true but under sane riding. Keep it <85 kmph.
    Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
Because everyone who passes, isn't a martyr!

Hope you arent confused between Karizma R(Zma) and ZMR, If Zma gives a milage of 45-47 consistently then there is something wrong in the bike But yeah the ZMR gives that range of mileage and said that, ZMR doesnt come in 1L price bracket.

My 2003 Karizma returned a FE of 43 kmpl on the highways.. mixed riding conditions.. insane and sane riding.. but gotta agree with you, if a Karizma - R is giving such FE, then something is definitely wrong with the bike.. probably running in too lean AFR...

You can try out the GS 150 as well. 6 gears, smooth engine, comfortable enough for long rides. Mileage is good too!

            Hi Jithosh,

first of all iam a owner of HUNK-2011. and yeah its really an wonderful machine. will give you most comfort, mileage will be 55-60 in highways if you keep yourself below 70kmph. since you are ridding splendor, this bike will give you a powerful feel. 0-50 will be more punchy and 60-90 will be more powerful with reasonable torque. it is a solid machine at high speed. for your height it will be suitable.
but regarding karizma, it is more for a tall person, and the seating position is of bit sporty. but for highway ride i would prefer karizma over hunk(iam 6ft) obviously due to higher displacement and taller top gears. but for your height, karizma may not be the good option.
            Go for hunk.

P.S: i waited 6 months for my bull.

Yes; I also found that the 2014 Karizma R has a sportier stance which may not be comfortable for long rides as compared to the earlier model. Are you tended towards looks? If not, then close your eyes, go to any Suzuki showroom nearby, and book a GS150R, a reliable bike made for comfortable long journeys. If looks and peformance are your priorities, then a Pulsar200Ns or a Pulsar220f will do for you.

Check out the new CBZ Xtreme.
It has a fresh new look, a 150 cc engine and the reliability of Hero Motocorp.
The service centers are fairly good and the bike is low maintenance and very reliable.

I too went for TR Karizma (ZMR). (love the revving sound) Dropped the idea of buying it because of the pillion height.
Got myself an Xtreme on the same day. I am around 5'8" and xtreme is 'xtreme'ly comfortable for me.
Please note that pillion height in Xtreme is also on a slightly higher side.
