You might also wanna wait for the CBR300 which is on it's way to India very soon. Other options for fully faired bikes would be the RC series & Pulsar 200/400 SS which are coming very soon.
I also liked the built quality of N300 but only concern are brakes as ABS option are not available.
I think RC series launch still have some months and no pulsar for me
I have test ridden D390 i must say that its performance is impressive along with its standard ABS but again those issues keep me bothering over its reliability.
Unfortunately no N300 here in raipur for test ride so couldn't test ride it.

          Re: Duke390 or ninja 300

I would have bought n300 myself but the thing is Kawasaki itself is not commited to Indian market, and Bajaj isn't willing to invest that much.
Let me give you an example
You have parked a ninja and a duke 390 and a truck comes and knocks them both over. ( I am not going to take an example of a rider falling off for my own reasons )
Both will go to the same workshop, and citizens of this forum will tell you which bike will be repaired in what time.
The spare parts of ninja need to be shipped from some where in south east Asia maybe Thailand or Malaysia. The parts inventory kept at central Delhi workshops was very hopeless (if there is any inventory at all)(speaking from my personal experience since I fell from my friends 250r last year July and bike was delivered to us in mid august)
So the whole point of my post is- Kawasaki and Bajaj are the biggest hindrance in selling the ninja in Indian market at present. Maybe in future if the conditions improve go for 650 straightway like I would do some day.
Right now 373.2 cc single trumps 296cc twin

But is D390 reliable? I have heard many issues like oil leakage from engine head, and moreover recently ktm recalled their D390

Recalling bikes I might think is a sign of responsibility. Most indian manufacturers don't even bother. They just rectify it in the next version and buyers make do with it like its a generic problem. Even my CBR250r was recalled for change in brakes. All at their expense though.

Have you test ridden both bikes? It's the best and only way to finally know.

I have test ridden D390, N300 was not available for TD in my city. My only concern for D390 is reliability, i am expecting same reliability which my R15 gave these years.

I think that kind of Japanese reliability and build quality comes with a costlier price tag when it comes to Kawas. Also I expect cost of ownership also to be higher on the Ninja. Completely worth it of course. Depends really, one is a fully faired supersports bike and the other a naked currently being compared for reliability.

Tell me one thing, if these is no Kawa service center nearby then you might just consider Duke390 itself. That way at least you have help and spares nearby.

But there are far more experienced people when it comes to duke390 and Ninja300... I've seen both owners love their machines like their wives so good luck mate.

                  Cheers.

The 373.2cc engine in my opinion was made in a lab and put into duke 200's chassis with minimal testing
Product was not launched in USA till couple of months ago fearing firm threatening lawsuits of safety and manslaughter. 12 months After Indian launch current bikes bear a lot of workarounds & modifications.
                      Modifications include
                      1. Radiator fan moving in opposite direction at low speeds (in order to tackle tandoori legs issue)
                      2. Idle rpm and clutch pulling rpm increase (in order to tackle stalling issue which used to happen due to clogged injectors )
                      3. Rider seat modified from underside ( to tackle issue of battery terminal being unbuckled)
And many more that I am not aware of
(The last two were shared by my friend from Pune who works at Johnson Controls- who designed ems and speedometer etc)
I would say this would be the right time to go ktm's way (be it duke or rc)
If they have balls to make this product in India for the world, it surely is a world class product (now)

As far as I know, ktms and Kawasakis are serviced at the same workshops which used to be bajaj workshops once upon a time.
But yes spares were, are and will be a issue until Kawasaki and Bajaj come together do something about it

If I had to choose between these two bikes in the current market, I'd go for the D390 owing mainly to quicker, better, cheaper and faster support and also lower owning and maintaining costs. But then these are my requirements based on my budget.
