Re: KTM Duke 200 or Yamaha R15?
I didn't included engine oil prices while saying 500. And, 500 was rough figure of basic service(charges which are eliminated in free services) charges. Even I'm a huge KTM fan but from a expenses conscious point of view I'd prefer R15 over KTM.Originally posted by Chandan92 View Post

Please tell me something about Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS too. Seems like a good performance bike in budget. Took a test drive of it just now. Please shed some more light on owner experience.Last edited by Vijay Murugan; 08-10-2014, 04:20 PM.

I have pulsar 200ns and the engine which it is used is 80% ktm duke 200cc except the upper part and when i ride it under 50kmph speed it return 48kmpl without pillion and about 40-42kmpl without pillion when ridden at 80kmph speed and it gives 37-38kmpl with pillion at the same speed.i made my trip from ludhiana to dalhouise 250km one side and it return 37-38kmpl me 60kg,pillion 85kg and with 10-15kg bagand other stuff and the engine is smooth and average speed is 80kmph...riding in the night around 10pm to 2am to pathankot and from 6pm to 2am from dalhouise to ludhiana.suspension work well when we have a pillion on board for the pulsar 200ns.

I don't know if numbers would matter all that much between the two rides you mention.
Eventually it's about how you ride and your riding style... If you are a tourer you'll consider wind blast, if you are a city splitter then you'd consider lightness to be more important.
Trust me, both mentioned rides have their equal qualities of addiction and you'll find an equal number of people on both sides vouching for it. That's the problem with choosing between two very good bikes.
In the end what matters finally matters is, which bike do you see standing on your front porch?
Do test the machines thoroughly if possible and also properly consider the NS in the mix of d200 and R15.
PS - engine refinement is the genre of the Japanese.

Ya you are right. Now i'am including the Pulsar 200ns in my choices. Going to do some more intensive test rides to learn more about those bikes. As you said that Jap engine is soo smooth that i never felt a vibration. Pulsar 200NS is a bit heavy compared to those bikes, but seems to be a good contender with a superb pricing. Now it has become very difficult for me to choose a bike. It was so easy for me the last time, but now lot of good bikes with different pricing the competition is intenseOriginally posted by Vykier View PostI don't know if numbers would matter all that much between the two rides you mention.

I felt the bike is a bit heavy and seating is high raised, me being 5.6 can land one leg firmly and the other partially. But the engine performs like a dream, this is the first time i am including a bajaj bike in my choice so tell me some more details about the bike regarding the spares, service cost and service station experience.Originally posted by deep007 View PostI have pulsar 200ns and the engine which it is used is 80% ktm duke 200cc except the upper part and when i ride it under 50kmph speed it return 48kmpl without pillion and about 40-42kmpl without pillion when ridden at 80kmph speed and it gives 37-38kmpl with pillion at the same speed.i made my trip from ludhiana to dalhouise 250km one side and it return 37-38kmpl me 60kg,pillion 85kg and with 10-15kg bagand other stuff and the engine is smooth and average speed is 80kmph...riding in the night around 10pm to 2am to pathankot and from 6pm to 2am from dalhouise to ludhiana.suspension work well when we have a pillion on board for the pulsar 200ns.

Re: KTM Duke 200 or Yamaha R15?
Thank you everyone. I am settling down with Duke 200 and i personally feel it is the most exciting bike that i ever ridden(thoroughly tested the bike, every bit is enjoyable). R15 is really a good bike but falls short of power and comfort but one hell of a bike! Thank you all my dear friends for helping me choose the best bike for me. Soon will be here with my Duke 200

Spares are easily available in the service center and cheap, service cost is 470 for Bajaj engine oil,74 for oil filter,60 for chain lubricant.so total cost for the service is no more than 660-700.
The mechanic at the service center are of bakwas and they not even know simple issues and take a lot of time to rectify it.
Regarding ktm duke 200 it will more than 50000 costly as compared to the pulsar 200ns but the pulsar 200ns outperformed it on the highway in the top speed.this is the reason I am not buy it because the pulsar fulfills my entire desire and I am able to save 50000 rupees and enjoying cheap services of my bike as compared to duke and parts are also cheap overall totally value for money product

Re: KTM Duke 200 or Yamaha R15?
Thank you for the reply buddy. Ya Pulsar 200 NS felt good in hands. But i feel Duke 200 has an edge over Pulsar 200NS most possibly the weight, refinement and bulit quality of the bike i think. Then i am not going to drag race with anyone anywhere so i dont care which one wins, i am just going to cherish each and every ride. My gut feel says go for duke for its built, agility, refinement, power, technology(PGM-Fi) and many more. So i'm going for duke, spending a 50K extra on Duke is worthy i thinkOriginally posted by deep007 View PostSpares are easily available in the service center and cheap, service cost is 470 for Bajaj engine oil,74 for oil filter,60 for chain lubricant.so total cost for the service is no more than 660-700.

Re: KTM Duke 200 or Yamaha R15?
You have a great selection in hand as all the bikes are toppers in their respective segments.
Biking(and bikes) is a mixture of many things - looks, comfort, power, smoothness, reliability, performance, fuel efficiency, pride of ownership, after sales service and spare parts, build quality and most importantly, overall quality. You will 'never' get all of them together in one bike. All comes down to your priorities.
If you are more inclined to power, go for Duke. Very fast and nimble. Lightweight too. Suspension is bit stiff.
Otherwise, go for R15. Despite having one of the worst(personal view) pillion seats, it's powerful enough to let you cruise ~ 100 kmph all day long. If you think you need 120 kmph all day long, go for Duke.
But, if you ask me, 100-110 kmph is fair for me in highways. With great power comes great responsibility. The light weight of Duke makes it the fastest in class but that very thing goes against it in highways. Mileage of both of them is more or less same. Spares can be an issue with Duke while touring AFAIK. Owners can correct me if I'm wrong.
Decision is yours. And if you have already decided on Duke, congrats for that.A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Re: KTM Duke 200 or Yamaha R15?
Considering the bikes in comparison the duke is a wild child. Its acceleration is mind blowing comparing to the competition in the 200cc segment. The R15 is a great motorcycle with excellent engine refinement and handling. The pulsar 200NS is no match for any of the 2 bikes. Its like an old muscle car with a powerful engine but no balance and proper weight distribution. Its difficult to drive in traffic and still retains the bajaj vibrations. Its a carb engine with 3 sparks. I mean whats next .. A bike with 4 spark plugs. I would seriously recommend you not to go for the NS. The duke or the R15 both are good options. Go have a test ride and see which suits u better..

Brother, you just revived a 2 year old thread.
The top left of the post contains the date when it was posted. Please check the date of the last post of any post to find out how old it is. if it is older than 2 weeks, assume that the person has got the information he needs and the thread is dead, and you don't need to provide any more info on the topic.
Take care. Cheers.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.
