• Ktm rc 200 vs cbr 250r

Hi guys, my name is Manu, I'm 22 and i'm planning for my 2nd bike. I have an apache rtr 180 from the past 4 years. I'm planning to upgrade my bike. After a lot of convincing i have convinced my parents to buy me a new bike. I have a thing for faired bikes so I'm planning to buy KTM RC200, but i'm a bit worried about the cost. My budget is around 2lakhs, the duke 200 is around 1.6 and since this is a faired one along with abs it might cross he 2L mark. So if it does what other options do I have in the faired segment. My daily travel is around 20km and i go for long trips frequently. Mostly i have to use it in the city. I stay in Bangalore and the traffic here sucks. So what other options do i have and also I need the fuel economy above 30! I was thinking about CBR 250R as my other option. Can anyone tell me how's the fuel economy and maintainance. Thanks in advance !

Query Approved.

Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

THE END

RC series hasn't been launched yet and we don't have any concrete info on when it will be launched. So the whole point if this query become invalid.
mods.. You guys should not approve such queries. Many 'What Bike' queries are already there which are filled with the same discussion.

Ride safe and have fun.

I have talked with the ktm showroom guys and they said it's going to be launched on September 9th. And as far as your reply is concerned you can tell me if there's another bike which suits my needs. If you don't know then kindly refrain from replying. Please read the entire post. Cheers

Whoa whoa whoa! You sure got arrogance for a guy who's just 3 posts old.
Cool your heels off, kid. Nobody's your slave here.

And returning to your query, get a used ninja 250.

Lol, was that arrogance? and yeah I'm 3 posts old. But I don't think I've offended anyone here. If I've I'm sorry. I wanted a proper reply . Kid? Seriously? Anyways I don't want to fight. Thanks for your reply. How much would a used ninja cost? And what about the maintenance and fuel economy?

As for used ninja, go check OLX
And for costs, check ninja ownership thread.

You sure want everything spoon fed, dont you?

Cool down there. There is no need to get aggressive.. Nothing Bout the RC200 or RC390 is confirmed. We dont even know which bike is coming on the 9th sept. Some sources say the 200. Some say 390.. some say both.. so nothing is known..

People here have patience and inrequest you to reply patiently. He said that hecause there are many wannabes who join just to ask about a bike which hasnt been launched yet and its been a pain in the ARSE when they keep asking about price and specs blah blah..

What are your requirements?? They are both completely different segments... note down your requirements and then decide.. cbr is a good tourer..

Hmmm I agree didn't mean to be rude, yes I agree they're of different segments. Rc isn't a tourer. Do you think cbr with c abs is worth the extra money or should I go for the non abs as budget is limited.

Manu it might be that you did not intend to offend anyone knowingly but your words are suggesting otherwise(may be unintentional). The people who have replied to your query are senior members and certainly know a thing or two about biking. So, please read out some similar 'What Bike' threads.
You will only find some speculations on RC200 as it is not launched yet - so, no ownership reviews or positives and negatives. CBR250 is a capable tourer with proven engine and performance. Go through the ownership thread to find out the pros and cons. Suits your budget and expected FE too. If you don't have any urgency, you can wait for the launch of RC200 and at least 2-3 months to get the initial feedback of the same.
Otherwise, go for the new Karizma. Proven performer with some new additions. Though top-end will not differ much, still addition of 45 ccs can be considered a good upgrade. Also, within city, you'll barely get to utilize the full power band of a 225cc. Proven tourer like CBR250. You will be able to save good amount of money and with that, can add some good riding gears to your arsenal.
Choice is yours. Best of luck!

4 years ago, the question was P220 vs RTR 180. Now replace P220 with CBR250 and RTR with RC200. Now do your math and decide what you want.
A Solid Tourer with much better Top end and Comfort(CBR) or a better Handling, Short stroke, Nimble, light weight, brilliant revving Machine(RC).

ABS any time mate.. the RC comes with ABS as standard I believe.. non ABS is also a good option if the budget is limited.. but the chances of those extra 30000 in saving your life is more..

give it a thought.. ride both the ABS and Non ABS models and see which you like in terms of braking.. if you are comfortable with non ABS, go for it with no doubt..

P.S. don't go for a newly launched bike as there might be some niggles that the manufacturers will sort out in the later models.. as in, don't go for RC 200 immediately after launch.. wait for it to reach the market and go through ownership reviews for any issues (remember, it is your parents hard earned money (if they are getting it for you)).. besides, the waiting period might be long as they might not be producing many number of bikes unless and until there are requirements.. all this in case you decide to go with the RC200...

Not the 200.

Only the RC 390 comes with ABS.

Dude, getting the CBR at this point in time doesnt make sense, unless you get a substantial discount.

Why dont you wait for the 300R
