  • Kawasaki 300 or Yamaha R25

    Hi All,

I own Yamaha R15 for 4 years now. I am looking for replacement of my bike.
I have a little confusion in selecting between Yamaha R25 or Kawasaki 300.
Should I wait for Yamaha R25 or shall I go with Kawasaki 300.
Also say something about Kawasaki 300 in terms of after sales service, reliability etc.
Personally I like Yamaha and had no problems with my R15.

    Query Approved

There is absolutely no information of when (or if) the R25 would be launched in India. Go for the N300 or you might end up having grand kids before the blue company wakes up.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

There is an old saying 'A bird in hand is worth two in the bush'. I too have a R15. About 24 months back when I was ready to upgrade to a bigger bike. I was looking at a number of options including Daytona and the R1. Alas the Daytona got delayed and a family emergency ate up into the kitty saved for the R1. Being a lifelong fan of Yamaha, I was tempted to wait for the R25 (which was just rumours till then). However, I opted for the N300 and have enjoyed my biking to the fullest instead of waiting for the mirage to become a reality in the R25.

The odds of R25 being launched in India before the year end are too long. You are willing to wait for the bike for another 10 to 12 months you 'may' get your hands on it. But in the meantime Ninja riders are out there enjoying their rides to the fullest.

Man yamaha is not the only one who knows how to make sports bike, kawasaki too is a outstanding motorcycle manufacturer, there is no need to wait for R25 particularly when nothing has been said by the company on its India debut just go for Ninza 300 and i bet you will love every moment riding the bike.

Like posted in earlier posts, its not even sure if Yamaha would release R25 in India or when they would. If you have the money to even consider Ninja 300, go for it and enjoy your time, rather than going through an agonizing wait for something which might never see the light here.

              Ride safe and have fun.

Re: Kawasaki 300 or Yamaha R25

@TS: The R25 is not going to trump the Ninja 300 in any department. That is a well educated guess from my side based on the info available.

                - The Yamaha is 50cc and few BHPs short compared to Kawasaki. So the Ninja already has the power advantage.
                - The frame/chassis of both is more or less similar as it appears. So the handling difference, if any, isn't going to be a deal-breaker/maker for either of these.
                - Styling is a subjective matter, so no comments on that. But since I have seen the Ninja 300 in flesh, I can tell you it looks fantastic, simple. But the R25, from the pics, looks pretty fantastic as well.
                - Lastly, the price. Ninja 300 is on a higher side since it's not made here. I am assuming the same is going to be the case with R25 as well if it launches here. In that case, R25 isn't going to be drastically cheaper than the Ninja.

                OR

                - Yamaha might launch the rumored R3 here to directly compete with the Ninja 300. That will be a new story then

Point is, if you can buy the Ninja then go for it. Whether R25 launches here or not, the Ninja 300 will remain as special as it is now in every way.

Re: Kawasaki 300 or Yamaha R25

Don't depend on speculations. R25 will not be released as yet. So, why wait for that? Go for Ninja 300 eyes closed. Beautiful machine.
But one thing is for sure. If released, either of R25 or R3 will be helluva machine. One'd know if he had ever been atop a RD350!

Spare parts availability is always a problem when it comes to a premium bike.. you might have to place an order only after which they will bring it to the service center. After sales service? Isnt that a problem everywhere??

True! But fast moving consumables like brake pads, cables, levers etc are stock-ed to a certain extent. Body panels and related components are ordered because the bike isn't made in India.
Any news on N250 for India yet?
