  • Best buy at 65k

    Hello All,

I am a 27 year old guy my height is 5'7" and weight 60 kg. I have never driven a geared bike, now I am planning to buy a new bike and I need suggestion. As suggested by friends, I am not going for heavy bikes (Also my pocket doesn't allow it )My budget is 65 k. My requirements are: Low Maintenance, Comfortable ride, Good Looks, and milage of around 50 would be good.
I have gone through many threads and other websites as well and sorted out 5 bikes, please tell me which would be best?
    1) Yamaha ss 125
    2) Hero Ignitor
    3) Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS
    4) Honda Shine
    5) Bajaj Discover 150 F.

Thanks for your time and help.

Discover 150F. Mileage + power(more than fz v2) .. a decent deal, for 2-3 years I don't think it will give any problems after which you can sell it any day
Else the trusted one is Shine.

2014 Bajaj Discover 150 F/S Test Ride Review | MotorBeam – Indian Car Bike News & Reviews

^^ This will tell why you should buy 150F over others ..

If u want looks n power then 150f, if you can manage with the looks of shine then its the best bet.

I don't think many people on XBHP might have ridden this bike. But sure the review says its a comfortable bike, they have made it keeping the commuter section in mind.
And I ride Apache, so hell yea, all bikes are comfortable than it

My personal opinion: its the best among all those bikes that you listed.
The only competitor here is Shine, but certainly Discover has more features and power than Shine.

Yamaha ss125 - butter smooth engine, superb build quality, very very reliable, good service centers, cheap to service and maintain.

Hero ignitor- looks sporty, most good looking bike in yuor list, smooth engine, hero reliablity, fairly good service centers, cheap to maintain and service.

Honda shine - plain and simple looks, good and smooth engine, honda service centers are pathetic.

There is a similar thread active here named "bike suggestion" chech it out, it has lots of info regarding your query.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

according to your requirements, pulsar 135 is best for you..
you should give it a serious consideration..
it has got many modern features, such as 4 valve.
it will give you the mileage of a 125cc bike and performance and power of a 150cc bike..

shine is good as well but the looks are way too simple.. also it costs as much as pulsar 135.
ignitor is one of the better looking bike in 125cc segment.. but it might not give you the power like pulsar 135.

I would vote in this order.
                    1. Discover 150F- For its power and looks.
                    2. Yamaha 125SS - Great built quality, descently powerful. Milege will be on lower side of 50-55kmpl.
                    3. Honda shine - Bulletproof engine(Thats it, I dont like anything else in the bike). Bike doesnt seems smooth post 60kmph
HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

                      1) Yamaha ss 125 - Smooth engine, very good overall build quality, feels like a 135/150cc after 40kmph, amazing road presence due to low visibility, cornering is fun, almost zero vibrations, good maneuverability in city, good ASS. Low initial pickup, a little less FE.
                      2) Hero Ignitor - Good styling for youngstars, good initial pick-up, split seat - a boon for riders, basically an extension of Stunner, nationwide network of Hero, reliability. Lacks in top end, vibrations over 70kmph.
                      3) Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS - Most powerful sub-150cc, great pick-up and top end, split-seat, good city and highway performer, best power to weight ratio, ASS is ok if not great. Not so smooth engine, a little behind in overall quality, vibrations @ high speed due to lightweight.
                      4) Honda Shine - Most fuel efficient of the lot, silent engine, good build quality, comfortable, good maneuverability in city, tubeless tyres. Vibrations over 60kmph, pathetic ASS, only 4 gears not ideal for highways,
                      5) Bajaj Discover 150 F - New entrant, ample power, fairings add to highway stability, Bajaj's network, engine is better than previous generation Discovers, good low-end torque. Behind in engine and overall quality, you don't know when Bajaj stops the production of a Discover series bike.

After all it's your choice as you will be the one who will be riding the bike. TR all of them and decide which one suits you best.

Do you Think SZ RR would be better then SS125?
It is definetly more powerful and has 150 cc engine, but handling, comfort and other aspects?

Pulsar 135 LS is going out of production by the end of this year, So think twice before buying.
SZ-RR is a very good 150 cc bike. All the good features of SS with a bigger and more powerful engine.
