  • hi again. need suggestion for my new bike

    Hi friends.

Iam thinking to buy a new bike before diwali.
I have only 150,000 rupees. I Personally dont like 200NS, duke 200 or any Hero motocorp bike (this is my personal opinion)

    So. My picks are RTR180, R15, 150R,etc.

I previously owned a discover 100t. Which was quite good bike, but i need more powerful bike8 now.

Re: hi again. need suggestion for my new bike

I travel 9-10 kms everyday Mostly on highway. And 50-60 kms on weekends. Mileage no issue for me.. the bike should be fast enough to reach 100 km/h easily. Iam 19 year old. 6"2' and 62 kgs

        Thanks for the suggestion

But i heared rtr180 has vibration issues. And it doesnt have gripy tyres.. :/

I can take some loan for CBR250R or RC200. But i dont know how these bikes are.

both cbr250r and rc 200 are good bikes, they are good in their own aspect

          cbr250r- relaxed tourer, good suspension
rc 200- foucssed handling bike, ride quality is on the stiffer side.

since you will not be riding much, go for rc/duke 200 and you will never reget the decision.

Re: hi again. need suggestion for my new bike

CBR 250 standard will cost you somewhere around 1.75 On Road.. the RC200 will cost you a little more..

There is a rumor that the CBR250 is going to get a face lift by the end of this year.. can't be so sure though so if you are going to book a CBR250.. I suggest you hold your horses and wait for the new CBR250.. it has a proven engine which is more than just reliable..

whereas the RC200 has been just launched and we don't know about the niggles just yet.. Yes, it shares D200 Engine but they have done some remapping which makes its character change a little.. You can wait for a couple of months from ownership and see how the feedback is..

on the other hand, go have a test ride of both the bikes and choose which you feel suits you the best..

We are here to suggest but it is you who has to take the decision.. Think wise and take a wise decision.

            Cheers,

Try R15. Stick with it for a couple of years and then upgrade. You are still very young save the money. R15 will teach you a lot about committed riding positions and handling.

RTR180 has it own advantages and disadvantages..

Good revving engine with good reliability.. the engine is rock solid. Like the Karizmas before the updated 2014 bikes the engine is not updated.. my opinion on the apache in new avatar is fugly.. no matter how much i try to like it. I jusy dont seem to find it lookimg good. The old avatar was superb and i guess they still sell them.

Me and a friend had a bad experience with TVS ASC. They are not at all hood when it comes to deliverables.. they dont keep up with the time frame..

The spares are not too costly and at the same time last longer..

The bike stability is simply awesome but i would suggest changing the stock tires soon as they arent good.. especially in wet conditions..

The bike has heavy vibrations.. once i was riding rtr160. My friend who owns it said dont think its going to be butter smooth like my Hunk back in Chennai.. i turned on the ignition and pressed the self start. The engine roared and I loved the beat.. i revved it a bit and i started saying the bike feels good and it is smooth if not as smooth ad Hunk.. i was riding @ 40s and felt the bike smooth. Then opened the throttle and moved to 60kmph and thats when the nightmare began. The vibrations cropped up everywhere. Foot pegs, handlebar and the pillion foot pegs too.. i turned to my friend and he smiled sayimg didnt I tell you??

After i rode RTR, my hunk felt ultra smooth [emoji3]

Other than vibrations the bike is bullet proof.

Re: hi again. need suggestion for my new bike

I own a 2014 RTR 180 (without ABS). The bike doesn't take long to reach 100 and is stable at speeds of 110 kmph. It can be ripped all the way to 133 kmph but loses stability after 115 kmph honestly. The vibrations are something I'm still taking time to get used to even after 6 months of ownership. At about 4k RPM in the 5th gear you instinctively try to look for a 6th gear (RTR's major weak point). But beyond 6k it isn't felt as much and oh does it speed!
The brakes are good for a sub 200cc bike but the tyres are mediocre. My rear tyre has slipped many times even on dewy days. I'm planning to get it changed soon and from what I've heard from fellow owners, the results are very satisfactory (although performance does take a sliiightt hit).
Since you're planning to buy the ABS version you may not encounter as many problems but yes cornering is always a very cautious process with their Eurogrip tyres.
Seats are comfortable. Definitely better than R15 or the Duke or NS. After Sales service is satisfactory in Mumbai at least.
It looks like you have your mind set on the RTR. A very sensible upgrade from a 100cc bike. Go for it!
                    Cheers!

Re: hi again. need suggestion for my new bike

If you ride with a pillion, then RTR180(ABS) is the one you should go for.
And, if you prefer to ride alone mostly, R15 should be the choice.
Both the bikes have similar top end and 0-60/0-100 figures. Apache scores in ABS while the R15 scores in overall quality.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

                        +1 for the above post.

If you want a fast bike with ABS, and can deal with vibrations, go fro RTR - it is cheap to buy, cheap to run and cheap to service and maintain.

If you want a Japanese sports bike with delta box chassis, butter smooth and robust liquid cooled engine, build quality. go for R15.
But it is expensive to maintain, service costs twice as much as RTR, spare parts are more costly than the TVS. and if you have a crash - it will burn a hole in your pocket .
                        Choose wisely.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Since you don't like NS or D200, from your pick, 180 ABS will be a good choice. I am not sure on the height actor. I am just 5'8". So Apache suited me well..I was able to grip the tank while cornering. Better take a TD and decide. If all goes well. 180 ABS (try matt black if its available) should be your choice.

R15 personally is a bike for a lone rider. I don't recommend pillion riding as I have seen many accidents where pillion falling down as there is no place to hold on for..except the rider.
