I am not a big fan of used bikes, so i would suggest choosing between the FZ, Gixxer or stretch your budget a bit and get the NS.

Used vehicles are unreliable unless from a trustworthy owner so should be avoided unless you are absolutely sure. Go for the FZ or Pulsar 200 NS if you can extend the budget a bit.

@monk - Im not a fan of bajaj anymore after using my pulsar 150 ug iv for 5 years, 5-6 times steering stem bearing, 2 times swing arm bearing change, its simply a non reliable company and nothing else. No bajaj from now. btw gixxer is newly launched, so issues might come up now and then.

Hello brother,

Please try to avoid second hand bikes if possible, and specially second hand bikes like duke. These are high performance sports bikes and the previous owners are bound to rev the nuts off it and there is a fair chance that it had been crashed. SO a second hand duke will not be reliable, and you wont be happy if you have to take it to service station every 2 weeks. Also the duke wont give you a mileage of 40, a second hand one... maybe 30-32, don't expect any more.

The other option Yamaha FZ V2.0 is a good street bike, it has fuel injected engine, very, light and nimble in city. The fit, finish and build quality is top notch. As you currently have a bajaj, the FZ will be a big upgrade in these terms.The after sales service is good.

The gixxer is about the same as fz in everything except that it is missing fuel injection system.

If you want more power, go for bajaj pulsar 200ns. and you being the owner of a bajaj bike will know about it more than I do.

Take test rides of each and then decide. A five minutes of test ride will tell you more about a bike than a week of reading online.

Thanks for the suggestions brothers. I've heard about rim wobbling in gixxer just a minute ago in the ownership forum of gixxer. I'll be sticking to fzs fi for now until Honda launches its 160cc . If its again a dazzler pro plus or premium, I'll buy fzs fi in January . some are saying fzsfi is slower than gixxer, but then again is fzsfi better than gixxer? There are no many companies that come close to Yamaha in terms of build quality, refine-nes and reliability.

I am not a long term owner (my Yammy is just 8 months old), but I have been following yamaha for about 5 years since the time it launched the R15 and I have never heard complains about their bikes.

yes, if the rider crashs it, and then cry that the fork is mis-aligned or the tire wobbles... thats not exactly a manufacturing defect.

as for the rim wobbling in gixxer, if its in a single bike, it may be a defect in one piece only, but if a lot of riders are complaining about it, then it is a issue. for example: the first batch of dukes 200 had electrical problems all over India, so it was a manufacturing defect, it may not be so in gixxer... as you are going to buy the bike in a few months, I would suggest you to go in wait and watch mode.

You have a lot of time, to wait and review your choices, check the ownership experiences every few days and find out which one is the trouble free.
Maybe just maybe honda launches a new 160 cc in new year.
Choose wisely.

Go for FZ V2.0 any day. Gixxer is a good bike no doubt. But, this is a new model and one doesn't know about the potential long term problems and their remedies. Don't know about Kharagpur but in Kolkata, it's very tough to find a Suzuki showroom and spare parts. One of the main drawbacks for FZ was mileage. That has been taken care of to some extent in V2.0 by adding FI.
Also, by now, you must have known the the eagerly awaited Honda 160cc is nothing but a weird looking upgrade of the legendary Unicorn. IMO, they have not done justice to the beautiful machine by this 'upgrade'. But, if it suits your style, you can have a look.
My vote would go for FZ V2.0 anyway.

Thanks Bro, saw yesterday on the forum about Honda 160, piece of crap with digital meter , I'm going for fz s fi. Will buy on January or bike will become 1yr old in a month so January

Studds Shifter.
Its retails for some ~₹1600. Has an secondary sun visor and built quality is also good.

Shifter is a good one. But, I'd advice you Ninja 3G. Preferred by numerous people. Yes, a little heavy. But very sturdy and safe.
Go to Wellington Square. It's between Sealdah and Esplaned. There are at least 15-20 shops selling helmets. Go to the 2 big shops(can't remember the names- sorry) located in the bylane just opposite to the petrol pump. Also, you can check out in the few shops in and around for a better bargain. In Kolkata/WB, Wellington Square can be called as the ultimate destination for anything related to biking. Cheers!
