  • FZ-S Fi or Trigger

Hi fellow riders. This is Vinodh from chennai, currently I have Honda shine since 2009. It's a good work horse - reliability, low maintenance and mileage are the key features. Also I travel around 60 to 75 kms daily to work. For some time now I feel that it is a little under powered. I can cruise on 65 to 70 kmph anything above that it's really tiresome.

I'm looking to upgrade to 150cc not more than that coz of mileage and budget.

I have ridden unicorn and xtreme in the past both have not satisfied me. They don't have the handling and flickability of my shine. Even they do not give feedback as much as shine. (IMHO) It's like sitting on a ship while riding them.

I haven't ridden FZ or Trigger ever but I think Fz 2.0 will have better handling than trigger according to my riding style.
Also, occasionally I have to give a lift to spouse or mom to markets, etc. So pillion comfort is very important. What is the on road price and mileage of Fzs2.0 and trigger in chennai.

This is my first thread ever in any form so please excuse my naive language. Noob here[emoji4]

choose between fz v2 or gixxer 155.
fz v2 may deliver slightly better mileage than gixxer due to fuel injection. but difference is very small (of course it depends on your riding style).
go through each bikes ownership thread and choose the best for you.
i have already booked my gixxer and i suggest you to go for gixxer as well

Even I would like to suggest you to consider Gixxer along with others. Test ride all, then decide.
And About "Unicorn not handling well as a Shine..."- You must have rode a very ill maintained Uni. Do test a new bike. It was one of the rarest bike from past, which was a great handler.

Thanks Anuj & srt99. If my mom sits in the pillion seat (legs on one side), will Gizzer be comfortable? As its pillion seat is a little high.

Also, I dont have anything against 200NS as it is a solid bike from bajaj. But it does not make sense to me.

Thank you, Sambit. I'll do a proper test drive on Unicorn.

Also, does the upcoming unicorn 160 makes any sense? The current one is very plain and I don't like the chrome strip above the headlight.

if pillion comfort is priority then fz v2 would be better.. fz v2 has longer pillion seat.. it's not that gixxer has horrible pillion seat, but gixxer would not be comfortable for pillion for longer journey..
also the pillion seat on gixxer is slightly higher than fz v2.
better take your mom to suzuki showroom and take a test drive of gixxer and take your mom as pillion rider and do the same for fz.
              and decide which suits best

If you want power and you want to cruise on or around 90kmph than you should choose gixxer with eyes closed because it is powerful and torquier than fz. Gixxer is faster to 100 by good 2-3 seconds which means it cruise smoothly around 90kmph with enough juice to overtake. Fz is good for low and mid range only whereas gixxer feels much better than fz after crossing 85kmph mark. Only prob with gixxer is it looks a bit small than fz and its pillion seat is slightly less spacious.

Thanks Naveen. IMHO Gixxer's styling is somewhat different not in a good way though.

Styling is all depends on personal choice. I thot you are concerned about performace as you mentioned in your query. That is why I compared both performance wise.

                        Re: FZ-S Fi or Trigger

You can choose any one between them as both are almost similar. In fact, Gixxer was launched keeping in mind FZ V2.0. Though I'd suggest FZ2.0, almost all the Gixxer users are satisfied. FZ scores in pillion comfort and FI(better FE and throttle response). Gixxer scores in exclusivity and being more powerful.
                        Choice is yours.

Even I was stuck at the same croassroads from few days.. Finally decided to go with FZS FI which costs me around 94K .( Feeling a bit over priced though)

Does yamaha give any offers for Christmas/Newyear like accessories free or something ? If there are any possibilities I would like to postpone buying a month.

I would vote for the FZ v2. because of the fuel injected engine, and yamaha reliability and build quality, the pillion seat is comfy and is light and nimble to handle.

The Yamaha service centers are good and can be found easily, whereas the Suzuki service centers are very hard to find, and the availability of the spare parts might be a problem for suzuki.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Gixxer hasn't yet proved to be a long runner yet unlike the fz . Fz is the original street fighter naked bike which is a product of Yamaha . Gixxer provides goodies to attract the youngsters towards it. Suzuki has been successful in the scooter market and also will also show the same successful nature with Gixxer. Personal opinion :take the new FZ its from the heart 😉
