    Born again. Buy again.

    Hi.

    53 years 5.6 height 80 kgs.
    One knee operated upon.
    Beginning of arthritis
    Angiography done.
    Diabetes on. BP on.

    Tail bone pain on cruiser style posture and on hard rear shocks.
    Knee pain on feet forward and extreme rear set foot pegs.
    Never been to gym.

    Stressful CEO job..
    So left job. And got bitten.
    Well bitten by a bug known as motorcycling again

    Wow. Sounds like fun

    So please suggest me a bike
    A) around 150 kgs weight
    B)..less than 800 mm saddle height
    C) Non back breaking shocks
    D) comfortable seating posture more upright commuterish
    E) with DC powerful battery n headlight as may fit extra lights or HID
    F) Good breaks.
    G) reliability. Easy maintenance..almost anywhere

    Budget felxi.

    Purpose.
    Long distance touring ..with luggage. Mostly solo ..no pillion ..2-3000 kms per ride all over India. ..all kinds of terrain..

    Present bikes
    Ninja 650
    Avenger 220
    FZ 150
    Ray

    Sir, i think you just described the Karizma!!

    You can also check out the Suzuki GS 150 and the recently launched Honda Unicorn 160.

      Hero Impulse . Nothing beats it.
      So and so (medium) terrain?
      Duke 390.

      P.S Impulse is not liquid cooled. Can't say about longer rides.

        You seem to already have all the best bikes that match your description in your garage sir but I guess you could try karizma zmr and if budget is flexible to a few lakhs the Hyosung range of cruisers.

          Actually took a short spin on karizma. Felt that The new model has a more sporty posture.
          Have heard a lot of good things about it and also read horror stories about shortage of parts etc.

          So was confused.

          Feel that if only Ninja 650 was at least 40 kg lighter it would have made a fantastic tourer for me.

            Well if the weight is a constraint then maybe the KTM 690 would be good. I heard it was up for launch here, don't know if its true but worth looking into and the Hyosung bikes I felt were quite light weight. There was a naked sport bike in the lineup last I checked perhaps that would be a good addition to your stable.

              Hope that it's better than the 200/390.for seat comfort over long distances and is not so cramped.

                I like impulse. Had ridden it n found it was very comfy. Unfortunately new ones are not available. Some dealers have 2012 models for which they are asking 72-73 k.

                I don't known whether Hmc has intention to relaunch it. It is a good bike but little underpowered. It is a bit tall bike for me but after mounting it the seat height gets lowered a bit.

                Wish Hero will relaunch it with powerful engine

                  How come you know its a 2012 model? I'm gonna buy a bike soon so is there something by which we can determine the year/month or batch/lot of bikes? Any numbers on chassis or somewhere to look?? I don't know about it so asking

                    Usually the last four/two digits of the chassis number are year of manufacture. I don't know if its different in new bikes but that's how it is for any bike upto 2012 I think. Anyway the production has in fact stopped for the impulse so its common knowledge about the year of manufacture.

                        Well the 690 comes with a balancer shaft which means vibrations will be down, so I guess that's a plus.

                          I was told by more than few dealers that Hero stopped manufacturers of impulse in 2012. What we get thru dealership is the unsold stock. They are all honest as the RC book will mention the year of manufacturing.

                          Yes there is a VIN. Vehicle identification No. From which one can decipher the year month and country of manufacture.
                          Every mtg has some different codes.

                          I have seen The website which used To decipher or tell the coding as per mfg .
                          Will post the link if I recall

                              You do have a ninja 650, which is an excellent bike.
                              Its practically vibe free, has exceptional fit and finish and gallops like hell.
                              Why are u looking for something else in that case ...?
