        Thanks.
A friend of mine on the other riders group has suUki V storm and another friend has triumph tiger explorer 1200. While bother e bikes are fantastic on off roader they are tall bikes. They will be difficult to manage for me.

Suzuki gixxer 150 is almost similar to FZ 16. I don't like the looks of old unicorn. I haven't seen new unicorn so can't comment on it.

One concern I had was that can the 150.cc bikes do Ladakh with luggage and can they be easy for a solo rider.

I know even kinetic Honda scooter had done it but it was with backup technical support and with a group

So I started this thread here to get suggestions and learn from experience of experts.

As I intend to do some solo rides

          Hello,

Sir I thought the height would be manageable for an experienced rider like you. Anyway, I have two other suggestions if you may consider. Those are BMW F650GS and triumph bonneville. You can get it modified with a windshield for touring and they can cruise comfortably! Also the suzuki gs150r is a different bike and not the gixxer! gixxer is a street bike whereas this gs150r is the older model which is very much more relaxed and used by middle aged men mostly for long commutes. There is also a thread here from a senior member called hoodibaba(57 year old i guess) who did ~5000km ride to northeast on this bike of suzuki's.

Lastly consider Benelli TNT 600 GT, and hysosung aquila pro gv650 hoping that you can manage the weight because of their short height. Sir, as you doubt do not go for 150cc to ladakh considering the factors that you've mentioned. Although these bikes are light and easily flickable, I feel, they ll be underpowered with rider and luggage and will compromise on your comfort.

          Thanks!

            Re: Born again. Buy again.

Sir long solo rides on a 150cc will be more of a mental challenge i think, why go for a 150cc???when you are using the ninja 650.I think its better to go for a bike in the similar cubic capacity than a 150cc.
I ride Honda dazzler(discontinued) which is a unicorn in new body panels. Its a nice city bike but on solo rides(approx 400Kms round trip) feel exhausted and always feel like it should have more power.

              Re: Born again. Buy again.

              Neil.

              I'm with you on this.
My issue is my weak and operated upon knees due to which I can't take the load of the bike on legs. That's why the reluctance to tall bikes.

Frankly I like Triump Explorer 1200 and V storm or BMW bikes. It's sad that my physical limitations are preventing me. And of course age is not on my side as I'm not getting younger and stronger

And yes my trusty Ninja it is till I find an alternative . Have 2 medium distance rides planned before this year end. Mumbai Baroda Mumbai -- morning evening
And Mumbai Goa Mumbai for new year.

I take this opportunity to wish everyone at XBHP and all members a very happy New year.

                Re: Born again. Buy again.

Sir, I sincerely suggest you to take a friend's Karizma R/ZMR once and go on a long ride (say 40-50kms). Try out high speed cruising, braking, cornering etc. BTW this applies to any bike you feel is a contender. Its definitely worth taking long test rides since you are planning for all India kind of trips. You shall at least know if to exclude or include the bike in the list. But I feel Karizma would suit your needs easily.

                      Re: Born again. Buy again.

Raj sir, from what I have read is that you would like a light bike and that would limit your choices to bike with low cc. As all the other bikes are going to be heavy. I would have suggested KTM 1050 adventure but it is a really heavy bike. Seat height is 850 mm. The only thing to consider is that the commuter bikes would not be that comfortable and nor would you be able to push them on the highway. So best of luck with your choice of bike and enjoy your trips. From the two tours that you have planned they seem to be highway trips. You need a bike that really zips as highways are really boring to ride on and you want this part to be over as soon as possible.

I think you should consider the Triumph Street Triple. not so aggressive ride posture, good touring abilities, lightweight (~167 kg dry) and seat height of ~800mm...
Also think about the Triumph Bonneville... it is heavier than what you require but definitely a very nice bike...
Also, do give a look at Benelli.

                          Thanks Raj0690

Yes Triumph ST is in the zone of consideration.
Bonny I find is heavy. Has hard suspension. And though no comparison it's in the Enfield region

Triumph tiger xrx with lower seat could also be worth a Dekho.

I think there will be some interesting bikes coming in 2015.

                          Will have to wait.

                            Hi Krishan

Yes KTM Adventure would be tall though not so heavy.

Yes majority trips will be highway or state interior roads. Not much offs road as such. And no hard core off road as I'm not into it.

                            Till then Ninja will do.

                            Thanks.

Let me put my 2 pence on a bike which I think has not been mentioned here, Pulsar 220. Its average weight, comfortable riding posture, loads of power and good torque, manageable seat height. I have been tripping on one for sometime, have done 2 back to back New Delhi - Kolkata round trips in extreme summers and rain and it has not let me down. The projectors have an added advantage. I use Motul 7100 which takes care of vibes at triple digit continuous speeds and has run the same day long. Have done ladakh with a pillion and luggage and was dependable. You might consider the old warhorse which still holds a candle to the new age machines !!!

Also, Z250 would be worth considering (Wt: 168kg and Seat Height:785mm)... Its an awesome bike if price is ignored.
