ok after trying my hand at my friend's Apache and Pulsar I finally decided to buy a new bike my options are Apache 160 and Gixxer .

Reason for Apache 160:

1.I like the graphics & design of bike ,it touches my heart .
2.160cc performance good pickup.
3 spare parts are cheaper then honda & suzuki.
4.Pulsar gone very old & a common sight .

Reason for Gixxer:
1. fresh bike ,good design ,performance

negative about Gixxer :
Spare parts / service doubtful as only one show room of suzuki exist in Dehradun.
short seat length although doesn't matter much.


Today I went to TVS show room I was quoted 78k on road price for single disc Apache 160 which I feel is high considering ex showroom price is about 69k so the dealer is taking 9K for rto ,tax,insurance ,leggaurd where as Bajaj guys asking about 4-5K for tax,insurance etc. Is this 9K a legitimate demand of dealer or if I am taken for a ride ? The Suxuki dealer Quoted me 80k onroad price for Gixxer which I feel better to go for if I am getting Apache at 78K ,what do you guys say , although I have shot an email to TVS company about this Issue as I feel dealer is demanding Illogical amount ,hope to get a good response form them as I genuinely want to go for APACHE unless Bajaj Launches there Pulsar160 NS all of a sudden before 14 JAN

Please check the price from one of the portals or call any other dealer and write down the breakup. Make sure you ask for all the components. Please make sure you buy zero depreciation insurance with the bike.

It's not Normal but is better than GiXXeR overall.Please try another TVS Dealership near you.Actually you can get the RTR 180 ABS for 98K on road which is what I can't believe what you said on the On-road price 9K Demand.Don't give anything more than 80K.Let me ask the on-road price of RTR 160,TVS Showroom Nesapakkam.

@Hitesh100 : As asked please visit other dealers and get the written break up of the amount from them. And different states would have different prices, and same with different manufacturers.

I think you misquoted me I said 9k (9000INR) as tax,insurance. , any ways I checked with the other Dealer he gave the same price so I am getting Apache rtr 160 Duel disk for Rs 80,235 , Gixxer for 80,800 ,Bajaj Pulsar 180 for 78,400 After considering the price I feel the Pulsar 180 is true value for money but I like Apache lets see if the Apache dealer is ready to bring it to 78,000 other wise I might go for Gixxer or if Bajaj 160NS if they could launch it by 13 JAN

Dealers dont negotiate, its not a vegetable shopping. Max they can do is that they can add more accessories but I doubt that they will lower the price.
By the way Bajaj 160NS? or 150?

Well I have a understanding that leg guard & saree guard should be part of ex-showroom price ,Bajaj is offering them with ex-show room price so I think TVS can do the same instead of adding 2000 extra for them , or i could ask them to remove them as i don't need sari guard & can get the leg guard from market for less than 800-900 rs

Leg guard and saree guard are mandatory as per norms, you can opt out of not getting them. But they wont deduct the money. Different manufacturers have different way of selling accessories.

If any manufacturer thinks that that can sell things like that then its there loss, as a customer I have to see the best price. 2000 is not a big amount but it should be logical ,anyways getting CSD discount too so might go for best one . Any Idea when pulsar 160/150 NS voing live ?

Being a corporate they have to follow some rules too. Do you know even the N650 and harleys come with Saree guards, that look more like a tandoor grill. Owners just remove it after getting the registration done.
There is no concrete news of the NS smaller sibling as of now.

I know its gov regulation to have those thing mandatory for manufacturer & I too agree as safety first but that's not my the point , I have an Issue if a manufacturer thinks that they can get extra bucks in the name of accessories which is a mandatory part of a bike either don't call it an accessory if its integral part of a bike or don't charge the customer in the name of accessory at profitable rates

We get your point buddy, but arguing among ourselves will gain us nothing, its the company policy and neither we or the dealer can do anything. Yes you can go ahead and argue with the dealer or the company, but they are not going to budge. Its just the way it is.

Went to suzuki for test ride ,have to say that was awesome , cornering was better ,bike felt lighter ,engine sound was sweet to ear .Show room guys were more than eager to explaining the features of bike unlike the TVS guys (may be due to a new product so they being more enthusiastic ). I clearly mentioned about my doubt about after sales service to which they tried to assure me about there service . Now I am little inclined to wards Gixxer as they are offering all accessories with in ex-showroom price & also offering lucky draw offer to win some prizes like jacket ,gloves ,bag .
