    Honda Dio or Yamaha Ray Z

    Hello Guys,

    Need an opinion to choose which scooter to go for. I am going to buy this for my wife. I have narrowed down on 2 - Honda Dio and Yamaha Ray Z.
    She will be travelling anywhere between 10-12 kms one way in Chennai traffic. We decided these twO just based on the scooters running on the road currently, since they look a bit trendy.

    Power or performance is not a big concern, as long it pulls easily of the line, then it should be fine. Mileage of >50kmpl if possible is a boon. I have read multiple reviews about the shock absorbers on the Dio and Ray Z. Dio being inverted and Ray Z being telescopic.

    How will these 2 bikes perform on bad patches of the road, Predominantly it will be driven solo. Occasionaly with pillion. How will the pillion comfort be, again, the foot pegs for the pillion is like reaching for the stars if they are a tad short.

    Please do suggest me which one is best to go for. My budget is limited to 60k.

        I haven't rode a Ray till now, but have ridden enough of the Dio from old version to the current one. I feel Dio is on the heavier side compared to Ray. Ray was only targeted on female audience initially, however to cope up with the sales figures they made the Ray Z to attract male audience too. Since Ray is designed with respect to womens it is light and nimble. With spec on spec comparison you won't find much difference, a test ride would give you some clarity. My vote is for Ray, as you are purchasing it for your wife!

          According to company websites of Honda and Yamaha, Dio is 105kgs and RayZ is 104kgs. Only 1kg difference is negligible. Ride both and see which one "feels" right.

            Yeah...I will surely take a TD of them, but wanted to hear upfront from fellow mates who owns/owned/driven one.

              My vote is for Ray.
              Both of the shortlisted scoots weigh the same, so weight should not be an issue.
              Telescopic suspension up front helps a lot in traveling on bad roads, so thats +1 for ray.
              The honda authorized service centers are very bad, whereas Yamaha are fair, not too good, not too bad, so +1 for ray.
              Spare parts are not as expensive as honda, +1 for ray.

              As for the pickup, it pulls very well, and gathers speed pretty quickly. But only you can be the judge, so test ride both of them and choose the one that suits you the best.

                Cant comment about dio. ..but own a
                Ray ....so i would vote for ray ..it has been 8 months and a no nonsense ownership till now .

                    You dont have to talk her out of it, Just let her test ride both the scoots, I'm sure she'll choose Ray. Looks fresh, handles well and I dont have to say anything about Yamaha build quality and fit and finish, its the best there is.

                        My vote also goes for Ray-Z. One of my colleagues was in a similar dilemma two months back. They selected Ray-Z and are very satisfied till now. I'd say, this is an underrated scooty as of now.

                            I was in the same Dilemma.. I finally decided I will get my wifey a Vespa... She likes it too.. Pink :banghead:
