• Superbike:deal or no deal

Hey guys,

This is kundan ghanekar. I had just completed 1400 kms tour on my CBR 150. I know it doesnt proove anything but i just want to analyze myself, thats why i choose this big tour. And i m very happy to say this that CBR 150 helps me in analyzing myself.
But my sister wants me to buy a superbike and thats why my father is going to help me. i used my income to buy this CBR 150. But now my parents are helping me, i want suggestion on super bikes.
1. Which one is good between supercars and superbike?( indian road conditions)
2. I heard something about traction control...is it necessary?
3. Price range may be upto 20L.
4. Right now i m in pune but i found that mostly superbikes showroom in bangalore, mumbai or delhi. What should i do?
5. Which one is good sports touring or super sports?

whats your pick?

rgds,
kundan ghanekar

Query Approved

With all due respect you seem to know absolutely nothing about bikes, let alone superbikes. Machines like those kill a person rather easily.

I would suggest not to buy any superbike anytime soon. Buy a Ninja 300, it is a lovely bike and fast as a rocket to boot. And when you feel the need to upgrade go ahead.

Money can buy you a superbike, it can't buy you riding skills.

I hope you will make a decision that will keep you safe and sound.

All the best
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Since you already own a cbr 150r i would suggest to spend sometime with it learn some more skills and update gradually.

As The Monk said, ninja 300 seems a decent upgrade.

Re: Superbike:deal or no deal

In line to @The Monk, Please note the 150R is a jolly good ride for a novice biker. Gather knowledge about bikes now. If you REALLY want to upgrade, no matter what, get an entry level dual cylinder now. The Ninja 300, Z250 are both great ones. I won't even suggest a Duke/RC 390 to you, let alone a Superbike. Might sound bad, but you feel confident riding the 150R. Doesn't mean you will manage a Panigale.
Still, if you are hell bent on having a Superbike, take a look at the N650.

Please do not take it in a different sense, am giving you my best possible suggestion.

That 1400 km trip you talk of. In how many days?

And your dad says he will get you one, because you sister says so? Wow.

1: A decent superbike costs 20 lakh. A decent supercar costs 1 crore+. And yes, a supercar is better, because atleast you wont kill yourself in one.
2: Necessary? NO. Good to have? Probably. On second thoughts, nope. All you are ever going to do is to ride in chappals, without a helmet, showing off on the roads. So nope. You dont need it.
3: Look at Triumph, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki, Aprillia, Ductati, Yamaha, Benelli, BMW, Harley, Hyosung
4: Pune has plenty of showrooms. And the ride to Mumbai is not that far off.
5: Depends on your usage.

Look dude, a superbike is not like a mobile phone. That you look at which has more RAM and better processor. It has a soul, a spirit. Something which a poser like you will never understand.

Kundan, looks like your sister n dad were jovially teasing you and you got serious and aired this post-but seriously do test ride the superbikes to realise their potential and match with your abilities and only then take a call.

Brother, first of all, for how long have you been riding 150R?
Secondly, upgrade bikes in baby steps dude. After 17bhp, you cant just jump off to 170bhp. You have money now, put it in a bank and use it after 20 yrs to buy yourself a superbike/car. Till then learn the art of riding properly. Upgrade to 200-300cc segment first.

Dude, you got money, but, have no experience riding a superbike. Take some time to understand the various technical aspects of a superbike, maybe attend a superbike school for some initial courses and then decide on the bike you want. Like everyone mentioned, upgrade to 35-45 bhp machine (benelli tnt300, Duke/RC 390, Ninja300), so that you can acquire more skills. As you mature and feel confident in riding these bikes make an informed decision and purchase the bike that suits your needs best. Don't just jump the gun.

Kudos to your family who want you to pursue your passion. You must have told them how much you love riding and your 1400 km run on the CBR would have further confirmed it.

My suggestion would be to use the cbr more and more. Also tell your parents and sister that a CBR 250 is max that you need on Indian roads. Your CBR 150 is also good enough for touring and you proved it already.

Thanks guys for quick response. Themonk- thanks for approving query. You are right, i dont have any experience of riding but i m going to get it and refine my bike riding skills. sanjaysangar1990-i would do what you suggest. May be go and take trial of ninja300.
@achyutish-i already took trial of rc390 but not on street, so i cant tell you if i m ok with it or not. HyperRetard-sir,1400kms in 24 hrs with breakage of 760 kms in 12 hrs. And sir, i m not poser. Only thing is this that i dont have experience...but i m getting it...it may take many years but when should i know i can ride it. anarchy911-honestly, i have bought cbr just a month ago. But as you say,go by baby steps...i think you are right. AmitRavi07-is there is any driving schools in india or workshops. I googled it and found california superbike riding school in india. Is it worth?

firstly, thanks to all your replies. I decided to stop myself and get a good riding experience, and then go by chunks. I know my parents dont want me dead due to biking.
Xbhpians always support well and i respect them. They helped me during my first long ride, so i have full confidence on them.

The only one I know about is California Superbike School which holds its classes in Chennai. Its reputed to be one of the best, but, I have no personal experience with it.
