  • Superbike that does NOT compromise on Comfort

I ride a Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS currently. Its a good bike, it packs punch to go fast but not comfortable when I want to cruise. I generally drive it in city, but riding 30KM or more I find my bike to be pretty uncomfortable.

I'm looking to buy a new super bike that is comfortable for cruising while reserving enough punch to go fast (in both acceleration and speed). I'm a average guy @ 74KG and 5'8". I'm not selling the Pulsar off (its still a good ride for short distances and city riding).

    Requirements are as follows:

    1. Bike should be really comfortable to ride, and rider comfort is top priority.
    2. Bike should be comfortable cruising at highway speeds (100-140KMPH), while reserving enough power to accelerate when needed.
    3. Bike should be reliable for long distance use.
    4. Braking should be good enough to handle Indian drivers' erratic behaviour
    5. Comfortable for both city and highway use.
    6. Budget upper limit 7-8L. If multiple bikes cover my needs I'll decide based on comfort for with middle ground between cruising and power as deciding factor and if comfort is also same and then price will be deciding factor.
    7. Update: Maintenance is also a concern in both price and availability of service.

    Bikes in my mind:

    1. Ducati Scrambler
    2. Kawasaki Ninja 650r
    3. Triumph Bonneville
    4. Honda CBR650F
    5. Harley Davidson SuperLow

Any other suggestions are welcome. Also I am fine with 2-3 years old bikes if it fulfills above requirements and falls in my budget.

Also I think this will be my first and last super bike so I want it should be fun to ride and want to get the max out of it.

    Query Approved

If possible in between the Pulsar 135 and the superbike, try riding some other machines that lie in the middle!

Of course it does not mean that you will be unable to ride a big bike, but it is always better to make a gradual progression if possible.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

You list has mix and match of all cylinder types, Parallel twin, Inline-4, V-twin ...So, whats your liking. Which turns you on the most while riding ? All the afore mentioned bikes will take a toll on your maintenance. Every service you ought to spend 6-8k and dont forget the premium fuel too, you dont want to ruin the engine life sooner by using unleaded from crap bunk.

Having said that, Bonnie is born for highway, N650 is a great tourer, no idea about 650F as it is yet to be launched and review from outside countries praises it a lot as city commute and tourer too (I dont know how will it pan in India). All the bikes are capable of doing the ton under 6 seconds and can cruise efforlessly at 130kmph without a finch.

650F comes with ABS as standard.

Re: Superbike that does NOT compromise on Comfort

You do have an exhaustive list of requirements from speed, comfort, reliability, frugal to maintain etc etc. Lets be clear you not going to get it all. And most probably none of them is going to be as easy to live with as your pulsar.
What you really need to specify is your riding preference, two up or single , touring or city , type of engine , faired or unfaired , cruiser or sport to name a few.
Once these parameters are set its going to be easy to suggest.

A little bit of more money and the bandit 1200 will be the wisest choice.

                Cheers,

                  Thanks for the info.

I understand that the maintenance will be around 8K. From what I have gathered the bike needs to be services every 6-8 Km or one year which ever is earlier. At the same time I am not willing to wait for months for spare parts.

I am fine with any type of engine as long as it's comfortable and fun to ride/cruise at highway speeds while reserving enough punch to accelerate or go faster.
Although I like the idea of having fast bike, but not so at the cost of comfort. Mostly I like to cruise at high speeds, and occasionally revving up the engine.
I think I will go and take some test rides to find out what I like.

According to your requirements ninja 650r is the top choice closely followed by bonnie. If u can stretch a bit then the Bandit.

Ducati Scrambler all the way, The bike is fast and comfortable.
Can cruise at 100-140 with ease while power left to accelerate further.
I Don't know about the SVC, that can be a problem.
