• RS 200 or CBR 250???

i recently sold my 10yr old 150-dtsi and i am in the market for an upgrade. however i am VERY much confused between the current offerings, specifically between the new RS 200 from bajaj or the CBR 250 from honda.

here are my current impressions-
-> the style and the tech of the RS is far ahead of its time, and comes at a very cheaper price.

-> but i felt the overall build quality of the CBR is better, although the price is quite quite steep (around 50k difference for the abs models).

please help me decide.
the most important factors in my decision are - engine reliability, ride quality, build quality, low maintenance costs & resale value.

Query Approved

There have been rumours about the CBR 250 being replaced by the 300 'very soon'! Factor that into your decision as well.

Also go through the ownership threads for both bikes to get more information about the maintenance and quality of product. You will get all the information you need.

All the best

i have heard about the 300, but the expected price tag is well beyond my budget.....
so these two are my final options

Cbr250 is still in production but churning out low quantity. Book it fast. It will take care of all the points which you have mentioned.

Cbr has dual channel abs whereas RS has single channel, CBRs suspension is plush and with pillion it is just breeze to ride. Pillion sit of RS a bit small but manageable.

Go get the CBR eyes closed.

Cheers,
Sanjay

just considering what is available right now, which of the two is better.....

lets just talk about the bikes at hand and please lets not discuss the 300 or 650 upgrades

Hi Aritri88! Well to be much more precise, figure out what your intended usage of the vehicle is going to be. If you're looking for an all round reliable tourer, the CBR fits the bill. If you're looking for a city commuter, and not much of a highway runner, then the RS it is.

Comparatively speaking, the CBR has one of the most efficient cooling systems in any bike it's class! The temp gauge never goes beyond 3 bars (unless there's something horribly wrong). However, the CBR is somewhat tough to maneuver in heavy traffic (personal opinion). The CBR's tech is actually quite advanced too, i'd say, Bajaj is only learning this through KTM's merger, when Honda released the same tech 4 years ago.

I have a CBR 250(std) and an AS200 in my stable. I've taken both on long rad trips and through heavy traffic, on the commute to work. I find the CBR's engine better during road trips, there is almost 70% lesser vibes when compared to the AS, and i'm guessing the RS will not be far off since it's the same engine with FI. I'm 6.2' and i find the AS comfy and surprisingly flickable in the city, compared to the CBR.

You say reliability? Honda is the most reliable one in the lot. It will last a long time, with proper care and maintenance. The Pulsars are good, in fact i actually love their free revving engine a lot! But then again, you have to decide which will serve you the best, based on your usage and your perception of what you are looking for in a bike.

Good luck on the search, and do keep us posted!
