  • Comfortable bike for a tall guy

    Age - 21

    Height - 6'3"

    Weight - 90 kg

    Budget - ~90k-100k (on-road Hyderabad)

Daily commute (90% on a highway with moderate traffic) - 90 km (to and fro)

I've been riding an old Passion Plus for about an year or so, and it's time for me to buy a new bike. Small bikes are a complete no-no. Comfortable riding posture is mandatory. Mileage of around 40 in the city would be acceptable. I'm open to all bikes in the 150-220 cc range, provided they satisfy the mentioned conditions.

Also, I'm not really a speed freak. I'm just looking for something that's not as sluggish as a Passion on a highway, so please advice me on whether to stick to 150cc or whether I should be considering faster bikes.

I've been given many options by several people, ranging from Pulsars, Unicorn, Karizma, even the Gixxer SF, but I have nothing in mind currently. All advice would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks!

        200NS is having good height.
200AS is more or less the same.

You may check out Suzuki Gixer SF as well.

Karizma/zmr are going to be updated in the coming months. Only then it will be a good decision to buy.

Gixxer/gixxer SF will look puny on your stature, I felt the same.

Pulsar 200NS/ AS200 satisfies your questions. Pros :
          1. decent street fighter
          2. Mileage above 40 if on highways and ridden sanely.
          3. Cheap spare parts means easy on pocket.
          4. Leap ahead of quality when compared to older generation pulsars.
          5. Ample power to take on highways.
          6. Can maintain 100-110 all day long.

          Cheers,
          Sanjay

Re: Comfortable bike for a tall guy

Bro all the 150 bikes give you a mileage of 40kmpl in the city very easily and you can also cruise at 80kmph speed on the highway.

But if u want to cruise at 100kmph go for pulsar 200as/ns.it gives you 35kmpl@100kmph speed.

              Ok, let me answer.

If you want to get something in 150cc category there is hardly any option which suits your purpose of size properly. Have a look on Gixxer SF, Pulsar AS150 both of them are good in city and can be ridden easily at 80kmph long day on highways. If you really need a very smooth machine then have a look on new Yamaha Fazer it also serve same purpose as AS150 and Gixxer SF.

Now coming to 200cc bikes, you can have a look on AS200 its looks bigger than AS150 and perform pretty well in terms of everything, you can cruse 100-110kmph all day on highway and suitable for city ride as well. You can have look on Karizma ZMA or if you like new Karizma (But according to rumors its new version is on the way) also, The ZMA version is proven comfortable and very much suitable for highway cruse with pillion.

Re: Comfortable bike for a tall guy

Alright, so here's a few updates:

                1. I've local visited the showrooms of TVS, Suzuki, Yamaha, Bajaj and Hero and test-driven the Apache 180, Gixxer (SF wasn't available), FZ-S v.2.0, Pulsar AS 150 and Karizma R.

                2. After trying out the Apache 180 and the Karizma R, I've decided I'd be happy with a 150cc bike. Can't really make use of all the extra power from 200+ with the traffic.

                3. Apache is too short for me, and the sitting position is a little awkward.

                4. FZ-S has far too low mileage for what it gives in terms of power, which makes quite an impact, given the distance I have to travel every day.

                5. Gixxer felt pretty solid, the only problem being that I couldn't try out the SF, and that there's a 3 month waiting list on the booking. I need to get my bike before October (at which point I have to return the Passion to my uncle returning from abroad, so it's cutting it too close).

                6. Pulsar AS 150 is pretty good, too., I love the throttle response and straight-line steadiness. Overall a great bike.

So, at this point, it's come down to Gixxer SF vs. AS 150. I don't mind waiting for the Gixxer, but only if it's substantially better than the AS 150. Ride quality and performance were pretty much similar for both of them (unless I missed glaring differences in the short test-drives - please do mention them), so I'm guessing it comes down to servicing, parts, etc. Please do shed some light on this.

                Thanks!

For quality and durability go for gixxer and for anything else get the pulsar as 150

                    Go for Pulsar 150AS.
You should've tried the Pulsar 200ns/200as too, in my opinion.

Re: Comfortable bike for a tall guy

You should really consider an second hand Yamaha R15 . Because am using one in same scenario ( 6.2 height , mainly highway rides , etc )
If you doubt about sitting posture , well it really suits a tall rider because one of main problem am facing while riding the other bikers are cramped sitting position and my leg get hit in handle bar while turning in tight curves , the bike ticks both my demands along with descent performance , mileage and built quality.
