  • Pulsar AS200 or CBR150r..??

    Hi,

I am Hemanth Kumar Reddy from madanapalle. I am planning to buy a new bike for long rides. i am 5.11 feet long and 90 kgs weight. i am confused between CBR150r or Pulsar as200..?? if i choose cbr 150r then how i looks like on the bike . Because i am little bit chubby.. Coming to Pulsar 200as, it looks like new model of Discover 150 but tech specifications are same like NS. Normally i will ride my bike 80-90kms per hours on highways.. Somebody told me cbr is high rev engine so you need to pull the accelerator so hardly.. is it true..?? So friends please give some valuable suggestions..

From your post i am not quite sure of your motorcycle G.K.! But the 200AS would make a better highway companion in my view. And at your height the seat height of the Pulsar shouldn't be a great concern either.

Do read through the ownership threads of both motorcycles here on xBhp.

    All the best!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

It should be AS200 or CBR250 ( if budget permits )
Just my suggestion let our experts pour in their comments .

Test drive both bikes and then buy the CBR150r then repent after 3 months for not having enough power.
It's a lot like nuts and bolts - if the rider's nuts, the ride - bolts!

          And you care because.................?????

          And your point is.....................??????

Yes, that is somewhat correct. The 150R produces its peak torque very high up in the rev range.

Today i ridden AS200 i felt very comfortable perfectly suits for my height .. it's very refined engine than 200ns and also it doesn't make noise .but i want to know it is also a rev hard engine like cbr 150r..??/ is there any problem in AS200.. cbr 150r test drive is not available so didn't..
My height is 5.11 and weight is nearly 90kgs. if i sit on cbr 150r how i will be look like ..??

AS200 uses the same engine as teh 200 NS so technically its not more refined than 200NS. However AS200 is a good motorcycle, its pretty stable on the highways as well. As for the 150R, try different showrooms for a test ride. You are close to my height and I have ridden 150R, that motorcycle will be fine for you

Yes you are right.AS200 Engine is smoother than NS. This was also covered by the Bajaj engineers.
Regarding the rerevebility of engine yes you can rev it to your hearts content.you can pretty much rev it from 2nd gear and probably redline it and the engine doesn't feel stressed at all.infact the bike loves to rev

The question is how much do you want it to be?

Why would you buy a cbr to go at 90? Even a splendor can do 90. The cbr150 can do 145 speedo, so you can keep doing 120 kmph all day.

In cbr150 you can get 70 kmph at 5k rpm.

I am not sure about the speed of CBR150.All I know is its a track oriented bike and absolutely low on power until u rev at least 8K rpm.no way you can compare both the bikes as both are of different league.

Coming to AS200 its a power hungry bike.but power hungry till 110speed.after that you have to pretty much tuck in to gain speed.I have touched 137 while going to kolar ccd some time ago but I have noticed it goes easily till 115-120 and after that it doesn't go that smoothly.just once I got to that speed. however for city rides its just awesome. Full on power and you would love it.

If I were you I would first see what I want and what sort of bike I need.as for me I wouldn't go for CBR150 as its really low on power compared to price.
As feels premium and no problems hover around the bike .
