My main requirements are priority wise)
1. Great looks and sexy appeal( i know this should be last but somehow this dropped in as a first for me).
2. Good after sales and service network
3. Comfortable seating position, a little agressive stance would be fine but not as in RC 390.
4. Good for long rides.
5. Preferably a fully faired monster( but a naked would also do).
6. Value for money.
7. Easy to say bye bye to after 2-3 yrs, if i wish to upgrade.

All suggestions, ownership experience, inputs and performance statistics are welcome and pl dont suggest me HD Street 750.

Regards
Abhishek
!!!
PS: pl elaborate on the importance/need of ABS on a 600 cc bike whose main job is weekend rides and touring.....i have got really very mixed responses/opinions about ABS...some say it actually is a life saver..some say that w/o ABS you learn proper braking techniques...so a thorough input would be appreciated...and also how many "almost crash" instances have any of you encountered without the ABS if any...

Okay guys how about the Hyosung Aquila Pro GV 650 F ..i somehow had the mosconception that it didnt have ABS...but it does...So hows this option in the price range..heard good reviews of this though....

disclaimer: plz take a popcorn tun and read the post [emoji14]

Any body who says Without ABS you learn proper braking...He is an idiot!!
ABS helps in antilocking of wheels that's it. This doesn't mean rider or bike doesn't skid... OR Bike/Rider wont fall. ABS doesn't gaurantee any 100% that you wont fail in braking or fall.

if a rider rides the bike without ABS then still he brakes same and as ABS rider does.

Both the riders will avoid a sand/oil patch on road.

I am riding CBR250R ABS from past 1.5 yrs and I still brake the same as I use to on my R15.

I dont see much difference between two bikes (with n without ABS). You thank god or manufacturer only when you came across such situation.
Even a ABS rider dont ride rough taking ABS for granted.

People ignore ABS over power and style. All those who went for N300 & R3 are more concern on performance and power over ABS.

Few think ABS as must but others dont. Braking has a technique front more and rear less. 70-30 ratio but belive me i brake all time same. My bro rides a discover without front brakes. I have told multiple times to repair front brakes but he is like the work is done so next time ll go for brakes etc.....

So the end point is.... If you are riding and suddenly a dog or auto comes in between , No matter how great rider you are YOUR BIKE LL SKID AND CHANCES ARE YOU END UP DASHING THE AUTO OR OVER RUNNING THE DOG!
IF YOU HAVE AN ABS THEN YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO CUT THE DIRECTION WITHOUT SKIDDING WHICH HELPS A LOT IN SUCH SITUATION.

My own incident :
I was at 100-110kmph and suddenly in Bhuj Mandvi route in remote village outskirt a buffallo came from bo where at 10:20pm in pich dark and i braked hard the road was with few sands as well. I had my friends On R15 & Rtr180. I braked so hard that even behind fellow rider was able to hear the ABS thick thick sound and brakepad was smelling.

I am sure in such scenario other would had taken a troll.

So its better to have an ABS, no one knows when would you nees it.

And its no where to get it only if you ride daily or weekend. Panic can happen even at 5kms and not even in 5k rides
Sorry for the long post..
I currently have a CBR250R ABS and was hell bent on not buying a bike without ABS due to just one incident which happened in my 20 years of riding.
I had a Honda Phantom TA200 for the 4 years I was in singapore. Beautiful bike. Never had any issues with it's braking. Even from 100-120 kmph. But once had to panic brake at 20 kmph in the rain as someone started crossing the road without looking. Ended up standing sideways less than a foot from the person that was crossing the road as I had locked my brakes in the urgency not to hit her. I would have stopped fine if the weather had been dry, but overestimated the grip in the wet. Now there might be people who would have managed it perfectly fine, but I realised I would prefer having that extra level of protection. This incident was in my 18th year of driving non-ABS bikes. Maybe my riding is sub-par. Make a decision for yourself.
Having said that, the number of times ABS has activated on my CBR250R is zero. But still prefer having it around.

ABS aka antilock braking system itself says what it does.

ABS does not interferes in your braking neither does anything extra when you ride a bike compared to NON-ABS. the only thing it does in layman's language is to prevent wheel locking.

let me elaborate further. in both the tires there sits a sensor which depicts the speed/motion (works above 10kmph). now in day to day riding when you brake you will never notice a difference as newer hydraulic disk brakes are capable enough to stop the machine quickly however there are times when you come to a screeching halt and the rear wheels drags for a long distance. so ideally what has happened here is the friction force of Tyre is being overpowered by the power of brakes hence the skid/drag.
here is when ABS comes into picture. it detects the wheel lock and momentarily the computer lets some power off the brakes and then get back again. which then let the Tyre gain friction/grip and brake again. this drastically reduces the brake distance hence prevents collision.

this becomes a very powerful and useful tool in situations like dust/wet roads where the tyre is running with far less grip than normal dry tar road.
its indeed a life saver and you don't need a crash or close calls to gain proper braking experience. each machine is difference over a period of time you will learn about it. its a bond and a learning curve which will never end.

personally i would be a mile away from anything that says or relates to Hyosung. thats just my opinion.

Re: Confused in the mid segment 400-800 cc tourer

Thnx guys sorry for the late update.... But i got a Kawasaki Ninja 650(a used one though) ... And it fulfilled all the qualities of what I desired.. I will not say that it is an out and out macho bike... But boy does it deliver..... Bang for the buck.... Completed almost 5ks on the 650 in 4 months and I m loving it... Plus the braking has become better because of the galfer steel braided lines... Completed two long trips(900kms plus).. And the comfort it offers is amazing.. Haven't felt the need of ABS till date as she has delivered in crunch situations.. IMO the best sports tourer in this price category (benelli yet to establish I had my heart out for the 600gt but then the trust factor came in and nothing comes in betn Jap bikes and trust) ...
So thnx everyone for the inputs and happy miles on ur rides

Nice to hear that even pre owned kawasakis performs better than few of the brand new bikes of other brands

Hats off to japanese quality!!
