  • GS150R / Unicorn / RTR-FI

    Hey all,

I'm following xbhp for a long time but recently joined to be able to post a query. I own a Yezdi Roadking(learnt biking on it ) and a 2004 Honda Unicorn. Being a Uni owner I know what a smooth drive in a 150cc bike is. Now, I've relocated to B'lore and going to purchase a new ride.

My requirement in order of prefernece are:
-Smooth drive i.e. No vibration (Uni spoiled me )
    -Above 50 mileage
    -Less than 75 K
-Preferably a heel-toe gear shifter as I wear formal shoes n don't wanna spoil them
-Comfortable and fast on highways for inter-city pleasure drives
-Latest tech gadgets (which Uni lacks )
-Good service n availablity of spare parts

I'm looking at Suzuki GS150R, Honda Unicorn and Apache RTR-FI for now.

No Pulsar coz its damn common (although its a wonderful bike)
No FZ-16 coz it lacks in comfort for pillion n smoothness factor (my opinion)

Leaning towards GS150R at the moment as Unicorn is a bit outdated and RTR vibrates like crazy. Please advice

FI is completely diff bike than the other two.....
they both are COMMUTERS to the core of it.......
and the FI is all about RAW power........

if it's only perfprmance in ur head than go for the FI....
                  it's the best for 75000......

the other two dont even come close........

                    Power too

Performance is not my main criteria .. I like to give the bike an occassional zip and drive at an average speed of 80 (whenever possible ) and like my fair share of street racing with complete strangers ... my knowledge of GS150R is limited to all bike forums and have seen it only once .. I like Karizma also but for I kinda dislike that single gear shifter which requires to move your feet constantly over and below it, I live in b'lore now and thats one of the worst traffic in the world so involves a lot of gear shifts

I would have definitely gone for RTR-FI but for its vibrations

If you are comparing a RTR-Fi with a Unicorn, yes the vibrations are a lot. But it is as much or sometimes lesser than a pulsar etc (Its my personal opinion). My friend has a uni, and he wanted to take my bike for a couple of days. I felt that riding a unicorn after a RTR was like an electric scooter (I dont mean to offend any Uni lovers or owners). Its coz Uni is so smooth that it makes me too relaxed and lazy. But if you are looking at riding comfort etc, its Uni. I cannot comment on the GS150R as i have not ridden it, but it did look good on road.

And btw, the rtr has a front only lever.

come on guys, everyone knows tht RTR is an excellent bike except for those damn vibes.. accept it

                        @TS
the RTR Fi has the best mix of Raw power and fuel efficiency, ppl report 45-50 on an average..

if vibes arent ur cup of tea, blindly go for the GS150R
When everything comes ur way, u r in the wrong way ;)

you just said you're not into performance man........

and the FI becomes the king of the vibration hill after exact 5800RPM...
till then you'll find the speedo doin 76kmph....

tht's more than enough for you without a hint of vibration cuz it's butter smooth till 5500RPM.......
