Well i would like to stick to fz only .. but want to know that as a new rider .. how can i get the max mileage of my bike while long distance trips..[i.e at what speeds constantly i can get 45+]

          Mileage chodo bhayya...
I am getting a mileage of 42kmpl in city conditions and 46-48kmpl on highways(i mean for a long steady run)... i checked it only twice(b4 first service and after first sevice)... for my FZ...

P200 definitely a screamer... i liked its quick response... but horrible horrible thing for all the bajaj bikes(don't know abt p220)... "RELIABILITY"... in my personal point i haven't ridden a pulsar which is in a good condition after one or more than one and half years...

If reliablity is the big concern never ever go for an pulsar...

There have been reports by FZ owners here in xBhp itself that once you cross a certain speed, the mileage drops down drastically. I don't know how far that is true, but all in all, the FZ should return a better mileage if the same rider is riding both the bikes similarly.

You would miss the poke you get in the P200 in the FZ, especially after speeds of 80. That's the only downside, if any.

Pranay is right. Beyond a certain speed say 60, and an rpm say 4500 the bike does not return a good mileage. I have an FZ and my friend rides a 200. We keep switching bikes to do a sort of comparo. Here's how it is.

My friend is 5'10 and i'm 5'5. He weighs 70 plus and i'm around 55. The average opinion about both the bikes is that the 200 is a dream when it comes to power. You just want to ride it all day at speeds above 60 and it begs to be taken faster while The FZ is a bit of a laggard after 60 but pulls well till 80 and then its takes a lot of time compared to the p200 to reach speeds of 100 and above.

But at any speed the ride quality that FZ offers is greater than the 200 in terms of handling and the low NVH(noise vibration harshness) levels. The bike is more than ready to be thrown into corners and it will come out victorious. In comparison the 200 is respectable too we cant undermine its good braking and handling. Cornering, i havent tried that too much on it but i guess it should be ok if not as good as the FZ.

For me the 200 felt a bit heavy when i had to reverse it out of the parking. On a slope i have to get off it and push it if i have to park it uphill. Dint have such problems with the FZ. Its a bit tall for shorter riders. So depending upon your body stats choose what suits you.

In terms of maintenance my bike is too new to comment. But his 200 has given him a few typical 200 niggles during the 1 and half year of his ownership.

So at the end, if you want a powerful straightliner close your eyes and choose the p200. Its good on highways too. You can ride at higher speeds while with the FZ you'll end up wishing it had the 200's cc and bhp too. In city FZ is a bit more agile when cutting through traffic. However one important thing we noticed was the FZ manages to catch up with the 200 at lower speeds. Its not faster than the p200 but it can tail it easily. So if you've chosen FZ dont worry, you have a good bike with you. Just dont let road rage creep in and try to race with a 200 on the street to remind yourself that choosing FZ was better than 200.
