  • Suggest needed between three completely different bikes.

Hello Guys, I hope this one is not repeated or duplicate of any existing Thread.

Since long I was anticipating a move to a different state and hence kept the decision of buying a new bike on the back burner. Now that I have moved to HYD I am buying a new bike. There are THREE choices that I am swinging between and they are as follows: (and EACH OF THESE three are different breed of bikes, I know).

    1. Royal Enfield TB 500
    2. HONDA CBR 250 STD
    3. KTM DUKE 390

I would also like to put My Perspective into words out here so you can understand the thought that has gone into narrowing down to These Three options and can help me out choosing ONE out of them.

    1. RE TB 500:

This one is chosen purely out of the Heart. I completely and absolutely, love this bike and the likes of it. Apart from that:-
    Pros
    Cons
    1. HONDA CBR 250 STD

Honda CBR is the most Logical Choice to me. And I like this bike and the Honda Reliability that comes with it.
    Pros
    Cons
    1. KTM DUKE 390

Duke was chosen for its Street fighter nature and Sharp Handling abilities as well as light High Power to Weight ratio.
ProsConsLet me go over the FAQs:
My budget is within INR 2Lacs, I am 31yrs old. I am 6 feet tall and weigh 95 Kilos.
Intended usage is city commuting and occasional long drives, with the office commute being 104Kms of return trip, Daily through free roads as well as through traffic. This will be my second bike and the 5th two wheeler over the course of 16 odd yrs. The bike Will Not be used for grocery runs and errands as I have another bike for that purpose.

Pillion comfort is pretty much a deciding factor as I do expect to ride with my better half at least 25% of the time if not always.
At present I stay at HYD. And nothing much about fuel efficiency as the bikes I have narrowed down to, have pretty much similar fuel efficiency. Bike should be pocket friendly to maintain too in terms of periodic service and cost of consumables.

(PS: if this is not a thread violation, kindly also suggest a good dealer/Reliable Authorized Service Centre for the choices. I am at Pin Code 502032 at RC Puram in HYD)

    Query Approved

You can write off the Duke from your list, if you are going to be riding with your wife. Pillion comfort doesn't exist. Pillions on KTMs don't exist either.

The CBR is the best bet, though a newer was supposed to be in the pipeline, not sure what is the update on that news currently.

REs, only if you love it to a point of...

      CBR baby...Ceebeearrrrr....

With ABS as optional, its a proven tourer. Considering your daily office commute of 100+ kms...and occasional pillion accompanying you, it would be the best of the lost.
Yes, your point about keeping it safe in public is one thing. But we have seen so many CBRs parked. Not that it has become a common machine now, people have seen it enough and would end up fiddling with RC these days more.

      That would be all..

CBR and CBR anyday... but 104 km everyday for office ????

service center - fortune Honda - sp road - begumpet ( mechanic - naresh )
pratul honda - begumpet - near bottles and chimney ( mech - ramu )

both are best CBR's mech in hyd and honest guys.

chuck duke out of that list. its a fun bike but......

you have service center at neredmed as well just next to rc puram but they dont service CBR neither at ECIL.
        begumpet is the next stop.

Yes, thats 52 onwards and 52 in return trip. The 52 Onwards is the FUN Part when the roads are not crowded and i can Glide through, and its stress busting; like Meditation for me!. The 52 on my way back are...well lets just say they are a pain in the Neck

Actually for your kind of commute you should consider the new Avenger street 220.

New avenger 220? He says 104kms of daily commute in city and despite that you are suggesting avenger.

CBR 250R it is..! It was never ever difficult to find a parking space for her.

Good suggestion, given the new designs, But i somehow dont find the bike appealing, no offence to the Avenger Owners here!

I am in the same dilemma as well. Would commute around 70kms roundabout along inner ring road to hitech city.

What is the FE of Cbr 250 in hyderabad city traffic?
Any heating issues in B2B traffic?

Currently considering Pulsar AS200 due to VFM. Any inputs? Are there any upcoming launches in Autoexpo 2016 falling within Rs.1.5L budget?

AFAIK Mojo is not yet available in hyderabad. Also its way beyond my budget.

What is the FE i can expect from CBR 250r in B2B traffic?

If it returns around 25kmpl then I would be happy to write CBR off my list.
