My first thread in xbhp. Need help in deciding one of these bikes. Should I go with Yamaha R15S or the Honda CBR 250R (ABS). Usage will include commuting from home to office everyday (a total of 35 kms too and fro) and some occasional weekend highway rides. Have gone through some of the ownership reviews of Yamaha R15S and saw that many people had neck pain, wrist pain. Hence, booked Honda CBR 250R (Pearl Amazing White) with a waiting period of 30 to 45 days. But the war still goes within me everyday whether should I go with my heart ( Yamaha R15S) or with my mind (Honda CBR 250R). Suggestions are always welcome!

Query Approved
Bikers are bikers because they go by their heart. If not we would all be driving around comfortably away from wind, rain, heat in Tata Nanos!!!Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!
Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Go with the CBR250 if fuel efficiency and budget is not a criteria, it is more practical of the two and upgrade keeda wont bite you for another 3-4 years atleast. The beautiful handling of R15 cannot be exploited unless you visit track frequently but CBR will keep you happy in both city/highways with those extra ponies and comfortable position. It is also more safer of the two (in case you choose ABS version).Fun Starts at Redline!!!

Ergonomics and seating posture is unique to every individual. Somebody else's pain may happen to be your gain!
If possible, take a prolonged test ride from an owner. R-15 is still a looker. One of my friends have bought R-15S early last month and till now, hasn't faced any sort of discomfort while having his wife or daughter(6 years of age) as pillion till date. I'd suggest you R-15S.
On the other hand, CBR250 is a beautiful machine with more power. But, you have to decide whether you need that power on a regular basis or not.A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Re: R15S (Heart) vs CBR 250R (mind)
Both are great bikes, but you are comparing bikes from different segments and that too with a massive price difference. Ultimately the simple solution here is, if you have the $ to spend on the 250R, get that. Otherwise R15-S
Technically speaking R15 isnt designed for daily Commuting but some people still do it (dont know why) For this very reason I am hoping the MT15 comes to India which is a Streetfighter/Naked and makes much more sense for daily commutes.
CBR250R has proven to be a great all-rounder.Last edited by RoyalIndian; 12-14-2015, 07:29 PM.

RS200 is also a great bike and its seating position is very relaxed and not too aggressive like the R15. It is good value too and its reliability is going to be as far as you are willing to care of it. If you ask me, it would be worth it to go with teh ABS versionOriginally posted by judebrent View PostWhat about the Pulsar RS 200?

I am planning on buying it, just that I am 5 feet 7 inches and it's just my toes that touch the ground! Scared about that and the weight!Originally posted by RoyalIndian View PostRS200 is also a great bike and its seating position is very relaxed and not too aggressive like the R15. In that case you will have to practice supporting the bike on one leg in traffic situations. Its not necessary to hold the bike with both legs, but supporting with one leg requires more skills. Practice that with a normal bike and then decide on getting the RS200. Also pulsar 200NS Fuel Injected version is rumored to arrive in January. If you are interested in Naked bikes, you can wait for it.Originally posted by judebrent View PostI am planning on buying it, just that I am 5 feet 7 inches and it's just my toes that touch the ground! I have been riding the Karizma R for over 3 years now and thinking of moving on to the RS! That's also 150+ but over 10 KGS lesser and slightly lower on the height front as compared to the RS.Originally posted by RoyalIndian View PostIn that case you will have to practice supporting the bike on one leg in traffic situations. from a 150cc I suggest you go for a 250 and TNT25 is gonna launch soon. hello brother,,,,if u compare CBR will surely gain some point over R15 on various parameters,,,, it is whole lot a better package indeed,,,
i myself using R15 v2 for 1 and half year rode around 49000 kms,,,, trust me all those pains will vanish for sure,,, i have ridden my yamaha for 800 kms in day on several occasion so dont u worry for those pains ,,,trust me upon it,,,,,
now most important biking is all about passion and passion comes from heart not mind,,, ,,,,, if u start listening ur mind trust me u wd;nt be biking some day,,,,
