  • Partial bike for 70% daily use and 30% touring

    Hello friends,

These days japs bikes on role.. Launching great products day by day..
Bajaj lack engine refinement, and hero these days lost some where...

I am staying in Delhi with height around 6 feet, on average built... And on 30+ age

I used many bikes ( 7 nos)goes from pulsar 150 (2001), Apache in 2003 and last yammy szr (was impressed with smoothness)
I was not having any bike from last 2 years due to some reason..

Now I am in process of finalizing one...

    My criteria are

    1. Engine refinement...
    2. Milage
    3. Must suit my height and built..
    4. Comfortable for pillion too.
    5. Enough power to pull both ...
    6. Must have touring abilities...
    7. Good presence...
    8. Must have DC electronic

    Bikes which I liked..

    1. Yammy YZF-r15s
    2. Hornet 160r
    3. Fz FI
    4. Fazer FI..
    5. SZRr

Can anyone suggest from above on basis of my criteria

      1. Yammy YZF-r15s - engine refinement, mileage, good presence, dc electronics.

      2. Hornet 160r - engine refinement, mileage, will suit your height and built, comfortable pillion seat, can be used as a tourer decent looks.

      3. Fz FI - engine refinement, mileage, will suit your height and built, comfortable pillion seat, can be used as a tourer, decent looks, but at some point with pillion the bike will feel.underpowered.

      4. Fazer FI.. Same as FZ only added thing is bikini fairing and windshield. Hence less windblast.

      5. SZRr - although it has everything, I personally won't use it for touring looks very puny.

Of course, touring capabilities of a bike is a subjective matter as folks are touring on tvs star city, and on related bikes.

My pick of the lot will be hornet 160, it looks fresh and honda reliability and the superb CBS system.

But since you have already considered honda 160 the price is going to shoot approx 90k on.road for CBS version. Why not consider the AS200 it will suit all the requirements you have mentioned.

      Cheers,
      Sanjay

One of the most important safety aspects in touring (or regular riding) is lighting. Honda has its quirks here! Tail lamp is DC, pilot lamps are DC but the head lamp is AC 35 watts.
One can't upgrade! No bigger halogens or HIDs without rewinding/DC conversion.

Get that thing out of your mind. Post NS200 bajaj has come a long way in engine refinement.

How many failed NS200, AS200 or RS200 you have seen failing or any user complaining about bad quality on either of the pulsar triplets.

Yes as compared to japanese counterparts it lacks smoothness but not by a huge margin.

You can check respective threads of NS/AS/RS 200 and you will come to know that bajaj bikes have improved a lot better.

Only thing which screws a nice bike is the SVC and IMHO every brand is suffering from the same In INDIA. Be it Japs or Indian make.

To be very very genuine enough. I love the revving of NS200 a lot when I compare it to my CBR250.[emoji4]

            Cheers,
            Sanjay
