    Gixxer or Gixxer SF ?

    Hi Moto Enthusiasts,

    I'm planning to buy my first bike and I'm confused between Gixxer and Gixxer SF. I rode both the bikes. I'm very comfortable with Gixxer except I'm confused whether I can make occasional long rides (200 - 250 kms). This is where I feel whether I should buy Gixxer SF. On the other hand, though I like Gixxer SF since mostly I will be commuting in the city I'm thinking Gixxer SF will be an overkill. I also have little problem with their Mirrors which I do not that comfortable.

    My only query is will I able to make an occasional tour on naked Gixxer.

    What bike query approved!

    Occasional long hauls won't be a problem at all on any naked bike. The problem with touring on naked bike is the wind blast and the resultant fatigue that it causes. Otherwise, a naked street bike is always preferred for long rides for its relatively comfortable sitting position.

      Both the bikes have the exact same specs, brother. So it is just a matter of preference and budget.
      You can use both of them for city commutes and long tours.

      Choose what you prefer, you can't go wrong with any of them.

      If you like faired bikes and can spend more, go for the faired one.
      If you like naked street bike, go for the normal one.

      Remember..The money will also matter if you crash, a faired bike will cost you much more in repairs than a naked bike, if you crash.

        Go for gixxer, there will not be any major discomfort for occassional long rides trust me..☺

          I have a gixxer and there is no problem whatsoever while going on long rides.. The longest ive gone is around 400kms... And no issues So just buy the naked version

            I guess from next fiscal year,

            SF will have FI and rear disc-brake soon.
            naked will have rear disc brake only.

              The best bike is always the one you like. If you wait for 204 months the new Gixxer will be launched near your dealer.
              With rear disks and FI if you get SF.
              I would suggest going for the newer model since it will have more features and a little better mileage over the carb version better throttle response.

              I would go for Naked if I was doing a ton of City riding and some long rides but def would go for SF with FI if i wanted more smooth bike.

                Hi everyone . . . thank you for all your suggestions. Decided on naked gixxer with rear disc as I feel I enjoy the naked more than the faired one . I'm not sure when Suzuki will exactly launch the naked with rear disc option. Keeping fingers crossed.

                    Hi everyone . . . . I just read in other xbhp post that Suzuki will not launch rear disc variant till next year (xbhpian mentioned that he got that reply from a regional manager in bangalore)

                    Now I'm confused. Also I have been reading rave reviews of apache 200v. The base version is just around 9k more than gixxer which comes with petal rear disc.

                    I don't mind shelling extra 10k or so. But I have never driven an apache, so back to dilemma mode again.

                      Eh no, its coming in about a month so relax. Most launches are taking place in APril, so sit tight.

                      Apache 200 is a whole different ball game. First decide whether you want a 150cc bike or a 200cc performance bike? Can you handle a 200cc bike? Price is a different aspect.

                        You can wait and TD a RTR200 , new edition Gixxer will not be coming till April 2016.

                            Handling is not a problem for me. On the other hand Mileage will be, as they say Apache 200 will give just around 30.

                            If Gixxer is not launching in April, I might have no option but to go for Apache only as I'm keen on rear disc.

                            That is my plan. Though not doing a TD is ok for me as I'm very much impressed with Apache 200 Reviews. On the other hand, I very much like Gixxer and atleast I would like to have a choice between Apache 200 and Gixxer Rear disc when I'm buying my bike, which will be mostly in April.

                              If rear disc is your thing, then Hornet 160R has rear disc version with CBS and it has Petal discs too.
