• Please suggest a new steed for me..........

Hi All,

I am planning to buy a new bike in the mid of march so please help me in shortlisting.
1. Budget - 1-1.1(can't do even 1.11)
3. Height- 5'9"
4. Weight-68
5. Intended usage: Weekend rides, Daily Office Commute, some long rides maybe
6. Fuel Efficiency requirement :35-40
7. City & Highway percentage: 70:30
8. Approximate Monthly running: Not fixed but at least 700 kms.
9. City / Town /Village of residence : Hyderabad
10. Brand / Bike type preference: None as such but I like naked bikes. I don't like faired bikes.

I was almost about to buy Pulsar 200ns in April 2015 but due to some reason postponed my plan to 3 months later and by that time lightning had already struck me. The production was stopped
.

From that time since kept waiting and getting delighted by the rumours of its re-launch but all in vain....

So now without waiting anymore and singing the song always in my heart (Meri kismat me tu nahi shayad kyu tera intezar karta hu...........) I have decided to purchase a bike.

Please give your valuable suggestions.
Cheers,

Pragyanand

The 200AS and Apache 200 would both be within your budget and satisfy your requirements methinks!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

The fix budget and the 200CC pot does not give you much options to choose from.
200AS and Apache200 are your only options.. test ride and then decide.

Also you should think about the pulsar 220f if your confused with the controversial looks of as200...since you mentioned about long rides, let me tell u as200 or 220f is anyday the best sports tourer available in india....

Thanks for the replies bros.....
Ankey: Yes Buddy I had my mind made up for 200ns so accordingly I am looking for options.

Yep only pulsar as 200, 220f and apache 200 are the currently available options.......but i guess Apache will come in April (correct me if I am wrong) and IMO we should wait for customer reviews of the Bike for at 3 months or so......that I cant do I cannot wait for another 4-5 months. So the only available options here are as 200 and 220f

But I guess I can stretch around 20k more maybe. So please let me know if anything till 1.3 lacs is there for me.

Brothers any news on the NS coming back?
Cheers,

You are absolutely right in not buying a newly launched bike, the first few batches always have niggles in them, Duke had electrical problems, Gixxer had rusting and wonky gearbox and so on. And Apache is said to be launched in April. add another 6 to 8 months to get it free of problems, that is a long wait. Cancel Apache.

In 1.32 Lakhs you can get a R15, but I don't think you will want that, as you are tall. A good bike in every way though.
Same goes for CBR150R.

Sorry bro, I'm out of options. Maybe others can help.

Do u have any problem with the as 200 or the 220f ??? Coz naked bikes r not at all suited for long tours....and r15 or cbr 150 may feel a bit underpowered compared to these sports tourer and are more of track bikes....please tell more about your usage...☺

Re: Please suggest a new steed for me..........

Try to pull a little more money out of your pocket and look into a RS 200 if AS 200 and 220F is not your cup of tea, it looks like a transformer and has decent package for the money it is looking for. (But the full fairing is another huge maintenance to work on)

Also just because Apache 200 4v is a new bike it doesn't mean it will have as many kinks as Pulsar rs200, or as 200 is having as they are more problematic to open up and service and a local mech or SVC, also Apache 200 4V has way better fit and finish then Bajaj/KTM(they do have good quality but not so par with other company's') When the Apache 180 was launched, it had it's own issues but they were quickly taken care of. But on the other hand TVS Apache 200 has gotten a major help from BMW on the quality part and I will personally be getting one to own as soon as the ABS version is launched and will be giving a very unbaised thought out detailed review of the bike for everyone to lead on.

Until then, your choices are very very limited, I would suggest to wait a few months to decide by April there will be new paint jobs and new lots of the rs 200, as 200, and news on upcoming Apache updates on their 180's and 160's.

PS:- just before people say I'm an TVS Fan, Im not i never owned a tvs and this will be my first but from all the reviews of their bikes and the colab with BMW, i'm confident about them improving more then before.

Ankey: Yeah thought the same things. But I am not into fairings I am not a very big fan of faired bikes. But thanks for the valuable suggestions.
maxi: Buddy I do not have any problem with AS200 and 220F. I like those bikes but as I said I like naked bikes more. And about my usage, the normal commute to and fro to office is like 25 kms per day. But whenever I have time I go on solo till my mind says "Thats enough you idiot now you are already out of the city limits".
Sometimes I have ridden around 100-120 Kms without having any specific thing to do there.
3 Times when I didnt got a ticket in a train I have covered from Delhi to Lucknow(500 kms approx..) on my trusty passion pro and star city....
shadcool786: Brother I have a capping of 1.3 lacs and I cant go beyond that and I have already waited a long time for the 200NS to come back and now I am thinking not to wait more.

So I guess I am left with as200 and 220f.
Cheers,

Not just you bro....mango ppl including me are having similar budget requirements. Not many options for us. Either P220/AS200/RTR200. Sad that hero screwed big time with the classic Karizma's, which were better all around capable bikes compared to the options we have for now.

If naked is all you long for, look at the Duke 200. Nothing is as good as that in that particular price/capacity point.

I own an AS200, have taken it on long road trips ~2.5K kms at a time. It is brilliant! The seating posture, suspension, torquey engine and linear power band is a blessing for highway as well as ghat sections. The major downpoint ofthe AS is the tyres, which is a sorry excuse for anything rubber! So, as you've increased your budget, i would advise the AS and a tire upgrade!

Thanks Jon. But brother I cannot extend another 25K at this point of time as I have reserved the extra funds for gear and all....

I think with your advice I am feeling myself shifting towards AS200

As200 is a good choice but is it worth it? Check the ownership experience in this forums before committing to it other then that gixxer is a good option, or Honda hornet which is a lower cc bikes but provide good fun on the road cost less and has some cool options. Other then that I'm waiting for Apache myself and for a on road price of 98k for carb, tvs tyres and non abs its VFM.

If you can wait for RTR200 it would be worth the wait , the new draken concept styling and would give better FE than AS200.
