  • Buying a preowned Pulsar 200NS

    Hey,
I have extensively ridden over 20,000 kms with my CI Electra 5S and looking for a switch. I am tired of the service delivered by RE apart from spares and the FE being dropped (26kmpl) which costs me a lot added to my recent hobby of mountain biking. I have crusied over 10s of 400 stretches without any pain but still the tranquility of mind with RE is quite inadequate. Now, I am planning to make extensive rides, read, going places. I am nonplussed with raft of bikes available given my weird aspects under 80k.

    Requirements
Tall Rider (I am 6'3" with longer inseam and pretty average build. Weigh around 80 kgs)

Weekend rides (200+ ?) and Office Commute (10+10)
Ergo - Should be super comfortable with back, legs and wrist.
Power delivery - Primitively I cruise at 80s in highways and rarely at 100s, not any more than that. So, doesn't matter as long as the engine can cruise at 80s with getting vexed
    FE - 38 kmpl+ (2000+ kms in a month)
    Affordability - Servicing and Spares

I would like something so flick-able. I do zaps with RE in highways and it is something I would like to love.

I have picked some, but be great to hear from guys. I am searching for pre owned bikes as I wish to upgrade to a car sooner.
Pulsar 200NS - People say its meant for tall riders. But for how tall? 6'3"s??
Hero Impulse - I really like the dirt bike design
    Karizma ZMR
CBR 150/250 - Will I get one at this price range?

Thanks a ton for reading out.
Mustard Yellow 2013 200NS - Suave Bloke in the town
Retd. Royal Enfield Electra 5S 2009 CI - Best of CIs ever made.
    Giant Talon 0 29er - Rockshox + X5 + Deore + Exilir + Howitzer
Mongoose Tyax Comp - XCM + Deore + Alivio + Draco + Kenda
Trek 4300D Should I say anything about him? He is the Versys of MTBs
    Giant AnyRoad Cyclocross build
    S-Works Prevail for the head

Re: Moving away from RE Electra to Tourer

While I don't know much about the other bikes, I will fill you in about the CBR250R.

Price - Depends on your city. Where are you located?

Tall Rider (I am 6'3" with longer inseam and pretty average build. Weigh around 80 kgs) - I'm 5'10" and am comfortable on it. A couple of friends 6' are good with it as well. You should take a test ride and check it out.

Weekend rides (200+ ?) and Office Commute (10+10) - Great for the weekend rides. Munches miles without any issues. Tank capacity of 13 litres might be an issue though. Commute in the city with b2b traffic is not recommended. Can be done but not the best bike to do it in. My arms start to kill me if I do this for more than an hour in bangalore traffic.

Ergo - I'm very comfortable on it on the highway. Rest as answered above.

Power delivery - Very peacefully cruises at 100-120 kmph

FE - I get 35+ kmpl. Your mileage maybe more. I'm not a very patient rider.

Affordability - Not very expensive. But of course the other bikes listed willl be cheaper.

I would like something so flick-able - Not a very good bike for flicking. More of a sedate highway cruiser.

      Good luck.

I think based on your requirements you should consider the GT continental, else you can wait for the new Apache 200.

Try the AS200, it should be good for you, else Apache 200 is another option

            Thanks. No more REs.
Apache 200 is not an option for me. and AS200 is already in my list but still I am yearning for NS200 and so the others I have listed. Let me know if there any apposite elements I should include in my list.

              What does that mean?

Cbr 150r ticks all the boxes you asked except a relaxed seating position. It's flick able, fuel efficient, capable city commuter & tourer. The comfort is good but not very relaxed as you are expecting.

One thing with the As200 is the vibes from the fairing are irritating. Apart from that it's a good machine.
              Ride Safe!

              Cheers,

Im still looking for something better apart from what I listed. I don't mind drop in a little performance but I dont compromise on comfort.

To discuss frankly, after considering all these facts I finally ended up buying a used Karizma R, feeling good, saved some money,

You cant go wrong with Karizma (except when you are working in product design/development team with Hero or Eric Buell )

Doesnt it deliver mileage in sub 40s? Also how would you rate comfort against all the listed above? I still believe impulse is an eye catcher.

Any one among the Karizma twins should do it for you. An used Karizma should not be hard to find with a price range of 60-80K depending on the condition of the bike. Is comfortable, smooth and good ervice network. Can manage 90-95 kmph all day long with ease.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

And yes, the NS is perfect for you. So is the ZMR.

The CBRs, you will not get any good ones in that price, and the Impulse makes no sense as your only bike. Its slower than your current bike AFAIK.

If Comfort and ride quality with performance is evaluation then-

                              Thunderbird > Electra > (Pre-facelift) Zmr/Zma > (may be)220F > Avenger

Owe it to the conventional rear suspension. No, other indian made bikes can make the above list. Not even in the near future.

                              Disclaimer: Purely my opinion.
