Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF-FI vs Pulsar AS200 vs Others

The CBR has an excellent cooling system. My bike has never overheated or give problems on hot start, even in Chennai traffic, where temps go up to 38-40.

Mileage wise, I get 30 in the city, and 40+ in the highway, if cruising at 90 kmph. Doing 120-140 kmph gives 29 mileage.

Stability of the bike at speed is so good you feel like doing 140 all day long.

There is no old tech in the CBR. The niggles have been ironed out, and if you have a good Honda SVC nearby, you can go for it.

The only grouse I have with the bike is that it doesn't go faster. Plus the small tank which gives range of 300-450 kms only.

To add to my earlier points, I also intend to upgrade to a bigger motorcycle in 2 years' time. So how good is the resale value of the bikes in my shortlist:

      Suzuki Gixxer SF-FI
      Bajaj Pulsar RS200
      Honda CBR 250R

Also, when can the DSK Benelli Tornado 302 be expected to launch in India?

Hmm if you intend to upgrade in two years, buy a used CBR 250. Cheap and you will not take too large a hit in depreciation. Bajaj stuff depreciates fast, so does Suzuki because they are not an established brand with the Indian public.

Its fairly a new bike so early to comment.
          Bajaj Pulsar RS200 -
Pulsar never has a good resale value. The moment NSFI comes people wont be taking RS that much(Coz of its weight )
          Honda CBR 250R -
Honda always have a bulletproof Reliability and this bike isn't phasing soon,at least for one year. You might get a a good resale value.I have seen resale value totally depends upon your skill how you convince the other person in buying it from you at ta good rate.I have seen people selling 20Kms old NS at 75 thousand and 5000Kms old at 60000.Its just that how well you convince the other party. For eg if i have set my mind on buying an RS then if its well maintained i can shell out ,but definitely i would try tyo bargain.

          This year July.

Since you are a student ,i would request you to stay away from benelli. These things need Service every 4000 Kms and costs a bomb. And its a twin cylinder. So try not to buy itYes it looks hot but down the line after 2 years when you bike a Superbike or a twin/quarter etc bike you will have a better knowledge of motorcycling and then you cna use its Pros to full potential

            Did you short-list your bike?

Waiting for the launch of the Gixxer SF-FI to see if it gets any power bump.

And will also be visiting the local Bajaj Showroom on Monday to test ride the RS and AS. Will also talk to the Service Manager there and ask him if AS customers are facing issues and whether they will be resolved by the ASC and also if they have trained personnel to service Fuel-Injected bikes like the RS.

Will also be looking out for good deals on used CBRs in the meantime.

That's very unlikely, Suzuki is very conservative.

Not a good idea to find out problems if any. Check the ownerships threads and blog posts for better/authentic complaints.

Also do keep in mind the SF_FI version will be available only in the MotoGP livery.

I've test-ridden the RS, I can tiptoe but cannot flat foot both feet. Will that be a problem or can I get used to it with time? I'll also be test riding the AS tomorrow so that will make things clearer.

BTW do you ride a Black AS? (guessing from your DP)

Congrats on your ride, 150 or 200? What other options did you consider before opting for the AS?
