Which bike for city ride? URGENT!!!!
Hey everyone! I am from Kolkata. My friend (65kgs 5'8" ) wants to buy a stylish faired bike and is confused in between R15 and RC200. Price is not going to be the deal breaker in his case. He will be mostly riding it inside Kolkata city traffic and very occasional highway enthusiastic drives of about 100kms or less(twice in 3months ). As far as city riding is concerned he will be doing 25+25 kms of up and down to the college with me ( 63kgs 5'7" ) as the pillion, every weekday. One more thing is that he currently rides a Honda shine and personally prefers the looks of RC200 but is also concerned about the uncomfy seats (me too😂 being the pillion ). Please share your valuable suggestions regarding bike selection for the given usage as well as overall characteristics of the bikes as well as any other points you might feel relevant!!!! Thanks...waiting for urgent replies....Tags: None

The R15s is probably the most comfortable faired bike in the market currently!Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!
Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

a) none of them is going to be comfortable for city traffic.
b) The RC has a better pillion seat than the R15 v2.0.
The RC's pillion seat is even better than the Duke's. "Conversely, the softer, forward sloped pillion seat on the RC is actually more comfortable than the short, hard and flat pad on the Duke that can be quite unnerving for passengers." KTM RC 390 Vs KTM 390 Duke In India - Comparison By Overdrive

Re: Which bike for city ride? URGENT!!!!
I would say R15S,Looks great.
But lemme ask,Why the hell is a fairing required for riding inside City ?
He will be better off with a Naked Bike (200NS/RTR200) or even a Semi-Faired Bike (200AS/150AS)[My Motorcycle]

But on a serious note, I would say go for the R15-S, its more practical from a Pillion's POV. But I am not sure your friend is gonna like it compared to the R15 V2.0Last edited by RoyalIndian; 03-10-2016, 03:46 PM.

Re: Which bike for city ride? URGENT!!!!
R15 v2 is spefically what is desired...r15s is out of our list.... In fact I myself suggested him but that's not his choice...only these two bikes are considerable and I want to know in depth compare in between only these two...some who has extensively ridden both would be able to quench my thirst😂

Re: Which bike for city ride? URGENT!!!!
R15 V2 should be the choice. Here's why:
Reliable and robust Yamaha engine.
Fill it and forget it approach because nothing ever goes wrong, unless you crash it (I own a March 2014 model, so speaking from experience).
Even if you crash it (which eventually you will), the spare parts are cheap than RC and more easily available. (Note cheap than RC... not cheap in itself a headlight assembly will set you back 5k + labor)
Service and maintenance is pretty cheap compared to RC.(paid service for R15 is 1500 and for RC is 2500)
Build quality, smoothness and reliability better than RC.
Being 150CC machine, will give you more mileage which is important when you are a student. (Mine give 50+ in the city)
Both bikes are equally uncomfortable for pillion, so no contest there.
The service center for Yamaha are good at some places, terrible at others, but for Bajaj I have never heard about a good one anywhere.
Considering the above points, you decide. if you want to know about long term ownership of R15. ask away, I will be happy to help.
Ride safe.Last edited by Ankey; 03-10-2016, 06:40 PM.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Re: Which bike for city ride? URGENT!!!!
I have ridden only one 150cc bike thats pulsar 150, the current model, and I feel it was underpowered for fast city rides whereas my 220 does the job pretty good and with oodles of power left....so I am pretty sure how powerful the rc200 will be (will be in the same league of 220) but will r15 feel underpowered in fast city rides (may be with pillion ) coz I have never ridden a r15.... A 200cc plus bike never feels different with a pillion (almost!!! That's what I like in 220 )....if please some1 could elaborate???
